It looks like the La Liga is the earliest starting European league after we enter New Year. Because as of January 2 the games are underway right away. There is a Girona - Atletico Madrid on January 3 as well. This is going to be the most interesting game of that week for sure. Real Madrid might have a chance to increase the point gap with Girona while in the lead.
Morata's form has decreased a lot recently. Atletico Madrid really need him back in the game to be able to win more comfortably. Because while he was doing an amazing job with scoring goals they were more effective in the attacking line. If he has a good day against Girona then Atletico Madrid can collect some points there.
Yes we're in a long break, and for me it's quite boring because I'm used to seeing matches every week.
Girona have a tough challenge ahead of them at the start of the year, as they face Atletico Madrid who they will surely struggle to beat. But they have a good record against strong teams, except against Real Madrid as they were beaten by 3 goals without reply at the time. Barcelona they can beat with a score of 2-4, interestingly they beat it when Barcelona played at home. Now they have to face Atletico Madrid, 1 of the 3 teams that have a great influence in La Liga.
Atlético Madrid lacks to play very well and because of that they have won La Liga several times. Their team management is very good if they focus on the game and stay focused they can win the match. Girona are at the top position in La Liga this year and they seem to be playing very well in every match so Atletico Madrid will probably be under a lot of pressure in this match and it will be very difficult for them to win that match and they may not win. Although Atlético Madrid is a very good team, they need a lot of preparation to win this match
Girona stand out to challenge Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this season for the La Liga trophy and they're close to winning it, they just have a problem on how to deal with the club challenges currently, they need to be consistent whenever they're in the system. Girona are not on the same level with Atletico Madrid this season, everything comes with different results and I've watch Atletico Madrid strength and weaknesses. Diego Simeone have shown his concern for the club and him and his team are entirely working to restore hope and winning mentality back to the players.
Atetico Madrid and Barcelona are now 7 points clear of Real Madrid and Girona, which is not a good gap as it will be difficult to catch up. So far I haven't seen a decline in Girona, which is a good sign, but I don't know what the future holds, whether they'll be able to maintain their current form or even do better, or if they'll have to go downhill. Girona have the advantage in terms of schedule, as they're not in European competition and they're only in the Copa del Rey rather than the main competition, La Liga. That works in their favor as they can maintain their fitness better than the 3 teams in the top 4.
