Its quite clear that they won't win the LA liga because their performance in the league has been quite confusing as they constantly drop points in matches that are not convenient enough. But you can't say this for their brilliant performance in the champions league, it seem that real Madrid are a totally different team when it comes to the champions league and if I hadn't known better I would have thought that they lost this match on safety reasons prior to the semi final clash they have with the most inform teams in the world at of now which is Manchester city.

Of course a defeat like this is very embarrassing and very disappointing for me. To be honest, I never felt that we had to suffer a heavy defeat and fail to prevent one player from scoring 4 goals in this match, but I no longer expected Real Madrid to really focus on La Liga since Barcelona created so many points advantage.

For me, Real Madrid have to prevent defeat like this when they are favourites. I might not mind if Girona won 1-0 at home, but not 4-2. Ancelotti has to take responsibility for this match, I really have to be humbled by the result.

I think the highest domestic league in Spain, the Laliga seems and appears to be far from the reach of Madrid after losing against Girona, and their rival Barcelona closing in on the title but I believe Madrid is keen on keeping their rhythm to best prepare for the champions league semi-final against Manchester although Madrid played very well controlled the ball they had three chances to break the deadlock 10 minutes into the game but failed to, Girona played a great game against a great team.

I mean how do you even explain this, the big guns of Madrid did play and still conceded 4 goals which is quite too many

for a team I thought had a good record of not conceding too many goals this is a bad result tbh!

Ball possession equally was in favor of Madrid which stood at 72% and the still lost, but how??? Pundits should be crying with such a result, so unbelievable...Perhaps their hopes to catch Barcelona is gone and are just playing the game for formalities...

Real Madrid's defeat today was Ancelotti's big bluender in determining the line-up against Girona. They should have realized that it was very difficult for Barcelona to beat Girona, who at that time was playing at the Estadi Montilivi, then Real Madrid were humiliated by 4 goals from one Girona player in one match.

It looks like Real Madrid's loss can help Atletico Madrid go for the second place once again. They can make the gap two points by winning against Mallorca home and I don't think they would leave any point in this comfortable match as well. Maybe Atletico Madrid haven't been in a title race in this season but at least they are trying to finish the season at the best place they can.

However even if they finish the season at the second place I don't think it will be enough to satisfy the fans. Because there is an obvious problem about this team and it is consistency. They weren't showing a dedicated performance like this at the beginning of the season and it went on like that until they got far away from the leader. They didn't even have any focus those times. I mean their effort in the Champions League was also poor and said goodbye to it too early. There is a big change needed and I think it should start with Simeone's being replaced.

There is no chance that real Madrid will catch Barcelona this is so clear, real Madrid players seems under pressure because they know that their next oppenet in the champoins league will be man city, also real Madrid team already know that it's impossible to win la Liga so they didn't put much efforts on this match

The quattrick scored by Castellanos against Real Madrid is indeed extraordinary. We can see how fragile Real Madrid's defense is on all fronts, they always make wrong intercepts which makes it easier for Castellanos to score goals. However, this is a new record that has just been broken by Castellanos with Girona, previously in 2013 Real Madrid had also conceded 4 goals scored by Robert Lewandowski (at that time Lewandowski was still in Dortmund uniform). It seems that there is really no hope for Real Madrid in La Liga matches, they are so bad and it is difficult to be consistent.

Finally I can say that Real Madrid has given up on Spanish Laliga this season, they want to focus more on their game against Manchester City in the Champions league.Gerona is leading by 4:1 already and I don't see Madrid ever coming back in this game even as they keep possessing the ball more than the home team.

I believe that Real Madrid's lack of interest in La Liga is evident in their recent performance against Girona, which has nothing to do with Benzema. Despite playing without any wingers, Girona managed to score 4 goals against Madrid, with just attacking midfielders supporting their striker. This indicates a failure on the part of Madrid's defensive midfielders and midfielders to hold down the opposition's attack.
