Even though the win for Barcelona against Madrid was a narrow one, I wasn't expecting something of such, mostly in a period where they had to win matches to get to the top....so appalling. Real Madrid got draws in both of their last two games in the league. I think it is time for them to start winning again. Their next game is a home one against Espanyol. This is a very comfortable game for Real Madrid on paper. Benzema isn't expected to play due to ankle injury but I still expect them to be comfortable in this one. I totally agree that Real Madrid is a very big club that shouldn't be written off for whatsoever reason but come on! They're are still in contention for the Champions League title which I think is their major concern right now considering the fact that they are trailing by 9 points to Barcelona who's at the summit of the league. Barcelona on the other hand are out of any European competition for the rest of the season and that's why I think they will be more ruthless in the league than Real Madrid and also the reason why I think they will win the Spanish league this season.

Benzami is old but he is experienced too, also he is a dynamic forward which means he won't stay in the box and wait for the ball to finish it he also helps the teams with other rules like a midfielder and this needs a lot of stamina and that's what Benzema have even if he is 35 I guess he still got enough stamina for playing in La Liga and champions league but still Ancelotti can give him some rest and keep him fresh.

Yes you're right, Benz is a dynamic striker although his old but he is still fresh and become the most important player for Ancelotti. But he also gets injured too often, because he is a dynamic player which often make troubles Real Madrid opponents, Benz contract is also end this season and I hope Real Madrid can find a dynamic player like Benz for next season. Because next season for title competition will probably be difficult in La Liga, aside from Barcelona we have Real Betis and Real Sociedad which are getting stronger as well as Atletico Madrid already returned to their best performance.

Villarreal's current standings are pretty good, it's nice to see them in the top 6 teams. But their fixtures in the coming weeks are quite difficult, their opponents will usually be strong teams. They have matches of Real Sociedad, Real Betis, Real Madrid and Osasuna ahead of us. All of these teams are pretty close to Villarreal and they are strong teams Cheesy

That's why I think their ranking in the league will change. Villarreal will lose a few matches again

Villarreal were a dark horse in previous seasons and they were one of the clubs with a pretty good defense when Emery was there.
The start of this season was like a transitional period for them with Quique Setién becoming the new coach but it seems Quique Setién has found good momentum to improve their performance so that they can become one of the dark horse clubs again, at least for now their position is still safe and they can still return to the euro zone with the current point conditions.

That is what they are playing for, the Champions League qualifiers and that's it. They have been losing too many points early on in the season and it took then quite a while to stabilize their defensive game, actually the strength that they are usually known for.

Now the distance is too big and there is no realistic chance for them to get close to Barcelona anymore. The Copa del Rey is also over for them and now it is all about defending the 3rd or 4th rank against Villareal and Betis.

The team is quite good I think and they could perform better than this. Not sure if they are going to do much on the transfer market for next season.

With the current conditions, like it or not, Madrid must be able to score points in this match because if not, I think it is certain that the trophy this time will be in the hands of their rival Barcelona.

Liverpool would normally not qualify for the quarter-finals against Real Madrid. The record for the meetings between the two tends to favor Real Madrid, especially when playing at home. Madrid's probability is good, while Liverpool are expected to give their best resistance so that the game really isn't boring.

Liverpool could have won, but they didn't qualify. Real Madrid's main focus in the second leg will be keeping on aggregate, but as Liverpool have looked to be on fire again I can expect them to score as well. But there is still plenty of time to prepare strategies until the second leg is played and the two teams will each play one match in their respective leagues.

Real Madrid are sluggish in their pursuit to get closer to the top of the table. After my carefully analysis of this Real Madrid team, I think their manager Carlo Ancelotti has already conceded that they are not going to be Spanish champions at the end of the season and that is why they have prioritized the UEFA Champions League as their only chance of winning a major silverware this season. They have a domestic match to play against Espanol on Saturday at their home turf and I think they'll win the match but their Champions League second leg game against Liverpool on Wednesday is more important match to the club and that is the match they are more concerned about.

No, I'm not at all surprised by the goalless draw because basically Real Madrid are not in the best form to win the match.
Real Madrid were also held to a draw against 10-man Atletico Mardrid before the match against Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey, while Barcelona successfully beat Real Madrid before being held to a draw by Real Betis.

Even I wouldn't be surprised if Espanyol were able to hold Real Madrid regardless whether it's a draw or beating Real Madrid. It's by no means important, but Real Madrid have been really under pressure and are desperate to get out of form and fight for better.
