If the next Barcelona match is still with a thin score, it means that Xavi must be able to fix this. Playing a draw or a narrow score is still not enough if you have entered the Champions League next season.

It is not attack that wins match, defence does win match. If thr Barcelona defence is good enough not to conceive and their attack gets 1 goal. They have gotten a complete 3 points.
If Xavi can put more efforts in his defence line, Real Madrid will find it difficult to meet up with Barcelona, let alone to overtake them because Real Madrid isn't scoring much goals their own.

Real Madrid's defeat by Villareal has indeed made Real Madrid have to be willing not to get any points in that match.
