I don't think anyone should make a big deal out of it. He is a lot older now and he should not be considered as the first team player, especially in a team like Barcelona.
Another thing is his skills have surely deteriorated over the years and now I think it is not best for him either to hope that he will be the first choice of the Barcelona squad.
I hope that whatever Barcelona chooses to do, they do it with caution because I don't think they are in a position right now to buy players who cost anything more than 30 to 40 million.
Maybe Pique has gotten older and is playing worse, but then just put him on the bench and fulfill your contractual obligations that you have assumed. That would be a civilized approach.
