Benzema is like half of Real Madrid power. He is main supply of goals for Real so if he can't play, Real Madrid will be less powerful with their attacks. Benzema is not only a striker but he is also a very good player to connect with other players in attacking system. He can do well in many tactics and in his career, he adapts to his team mates so well from Bale, Ronaldo to Mbappe, etc.

They are old players especially Modric and soon they will lose their capability to play well. We see what happened with Ramos in past 3 seasons. He lost his performance and fitness very fast when ageing is not waiting for him.

Most probably because of long list on injuries in their squad ahead of their game against Osasuna.
