Real Madrid is currently one of the well-balanced sides in La Liga with their attack and defense both are doing good job which helping for having good results but sadly their players confidence level is not good which create problems for them in big games their lost against Barcelona surely setback but still they can do comeback in few next games.

We have defeats for them against Barcelona 2 times AC Milan, Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao but their win against Atlanta was surely one of the best for them and their fans here just needed good confidence and better depth into their players which will bring good results in the future. Most chances they will be not brought any new player into this January window, but few changes are expected into summer transfer window which will surely increase their quality and players confidence which are most important.

I agree with you, if the contract renewal and national cases had been prolonged or had not ended in barcelona's favor, it might have made the team's situation worse but achieving the desired result has helped them regain their morale and shine.
