Suarez is rumored to be sending his lawyer to discuss terminating his contract with Barcelona.
reading this news made me a little surprised...
Koeman really made a big change to the Barca squad, it is certain that this will affect Barca's game in the new season.

Not your keys, not your coins!

I got this from Barca's Twitter. Is this right or wrong? I can't prove it. I also had read that the new coach of Barca has also given rules for all players, nothing special about all the players they have management and all coaches have to respect it. You can view it here: https://twitter.com/fcbarcelonaorg/status/1298369403134922752?s=19
If it is real why was it leaked like that? The drama and the leak remind me about the past ugly actions from Bartomeu when he signed contracts with some companies to attack the club's key players. Did Bartomeu repeat it again with the Messi-related drama?

Anyhow Messi will stay or leave, Bartomeu has to leave sooner or later.

I am not sure that Messi really want to leave Barca or it is his pressure on Barca's president Bartomeu.

Surely Messi won’t leave Barca, he has acted like this, similarly in the past. I really can’t see him moving to Man City, it just doesn’t seem possible to me. We will find out very soon though.
I also dont think that Messi really want to move to another club despite the news about that. I think Messi is playing the role of putting pressure on people he doesnt like at the club and maybe thats the management and the coach. Barca will have to change their president and club coach as well.

The rumor of Messi move are simply pressure for the two of them to be replaced by another. Moreover, the coach, Barca must immediately realize the contract with their new coach and Xavi is the candidate that many fans want besides Koeman. I dont want Messi to move from Barcelona because everyone there likes him. He is a Legend there with a lot of achievement he has achieved with the club. If management allow him to go, then I dont think its a wise decision and its not an attempt to reward his success in bringing the club so many accomplishment.

If Messi does it only because he really want to leave Barca, I don't have any word to say. There are many legendary players who played for a single club and did not accept any transfer even from big clubs, like Real Madrid. They truly loved their clubs and sacrificed their career for their lovely clubs. Their loyalty deserve all respect from us. Steven Gerrad, Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi. I don't count players who played for big clubs and won dozens of trophies like Paolo Maldini, Raul Gonzalez, etc.

Let's see how the drama ends and see how big the love and loyalty of Messi for Barca.

Determined to leave even if the president resign...Prefer to refrain from posting rumours but if someone is searching it, he can find it in many sources.

It is intense over there in Barca. I don't understand the timing. As said by hilarious it is a little bit late now.
The club was suffering, many problems between players, between stuff and players, and Barca was kicked from all competitions but Messi just seemed to be angry and pissed. The humiliating defeat against Bayern might be the reason that made him start doing some pressure on the board for a serious change. The impact of the covid on the economic level of the clubs may made an eventual transfer a little bit harder. Although selling new club shirts with Messi names on it can make them profitable  Roll Eyes
We will see how this drama will end.

There was a clause in his contract which allowed him to leave for free, if he informed the club of his desire before 10 June [source] which means until recently, he wasn't planning on leaving the club. If he wanted to leave at the end of the season, I don't see why he would wait for the clause to expire and then try to initiate the buyout clause which is around 700 million Euros

Because he loves the club and wanted to give his best to win another Champions League? That clause has also been made in times without corona and it should have expired after season end. I see this either as a final effort to change politics inside the club or maybe he really had enough and wants to leave. Barca has to find a way to let him go for "normal fee" nowhere near 700M after all he has done for them.

I see Man City as the only club that can be his destination. They have money for transfer and wages, a coach in very good relations with Messi and a competitive league. PSG has only money and nothing else to make him go there. I will not even mention other destinations since they are highly unlikely. Messi in City would bring huge influx from merchandise as well and it is a deal City has to try and make.

I said it some months ago, that I wouldn't be surprised If Messi decides to leave the club this season, the crazy politics has been running for far too long in the within the club, that has been very evident with coaches and transfer choices.

But then I'm seeing this a very important step for Barcelona, I would have preferred Messi leaving on the best terms possible, as he's a legend and probably the most important image of the club till date, but then again he needs to leave for the benefit of both parties (as part of rebuilding the Barcelona team, the earlier the better, imo).

As for his destination, I was thinking Inter Milan due to the speculations that were circulating earlier this year, but Man City seem to be the most perfect place,  I'd agree with Trofo.

The club source said Messi, who has spent his entire career at Barca, informed the club about his desire to leave by sending a burofax, a service used in Spain to urgently dispatch a document that requires proof to third parties.

Intense rumours, well apparently not only rumours, say that Messi has decided to leave Barca and informed the board about it. It says also there is an urgent meeting, the president decided to resign if Messi stays maybe?
It is too hot in Barca these days!
I am not sure that Messi really want to leave Barca or it is his pressure on Barca's president Bartomeu. If Messi want to leave the club, they should let him go and get a huge transfer fund back to rebuild their team. If Messi want to stay in Barca, the club has to do their best to keep him there. It depends on Messi's reaction. I don't say Messi is too important and he should be played on top of club's benefits and future growth but as I said if Messi leaves the club, it will be better for all.

It's probably just a power play by Messi to get both more money and the people he doesn't like out of the club. He's left it very late if he seriously wants to leave and the time frame he has to hand in his request has seemingly expired, though he's apparently trying to argue that because of the Coivd delays it should be extended. Both the PL and La Liga start on the 12th along with many other of the big European leagues starting around the same time so that's not long. What team can even afford him and who would be willing to buy him at such a late stage? I don't think many if any clubs would match what he's currently on at Barca so he's probably best just staying and I reckon he will, just on a bigger pay package and probably getting his own way behind the scenes. I really can't see him going to another Spanish team, so if he does leave it will likely only be teams like Man City, Bayern and PSG, but I'm sure those teams have already spent most of their budget on new players and they'll possibly have to break financial fair play rules if they swoop in for him, though maybe if he goes for free they can get around that. Man City aren't going to want to get in any more trouble with that though. He's almost certainly going to want the same if not more money than he's already on at Barca and a wage that will see him overtake Ronaldo as the highest paid.

It is time for Messi to leave this club.
He still has time for new opportunities in less competitive leagues.
There are so many teams that want him, Manchester City is the most popular but in my opinion he should go to Asia and in the Chinese League to spend his rest of his career there.

The need to move away from Barcelona might be associated with the current politics in the club along with the clubs recent bad season. I think if Xavi was appointed as manager of the Club instead of Koeman. Chances are high that he could have stayed.

But this is unlikely to change anything for those who must leave. At least 5 people from the starting lineup must leave. Whether Barcelona can buy an adequate replacement and whether they can fit into Barcelona's game quickly enough is a big question.

Depends on how you define 'quickly'. The upheaval now at Barca will take time. For me they aren't favourites for next years title at the moment. When Ronaldo left Real they also needed a season to adjust and replace him as a team. And in Barceloa we might see even more important changes in the team. Even before their humilating defeat in the UCL and a season without any title, Barca had plans to get rid of a lot of their player. Now Pique, Suarez ... heck, even Messi might leave them. I am curious how the starting line-up will look next season. The new coach however could be a chance to integrate Coutinho, Dembele or Griezmann into the team again. As I said, challenging but interesting times ahead for Barca.

To integrate the named players, you need Messi to leave, which is quite problematic. Not every team can buy him. The price is too high and the salary is too high. But I am sure that Messi will play in Barcelona for another year. And you shouldn't write them off. .I think that next year they will take LA Liga. Real Madrid must also be rebuilt.

Hey guys, I have updated the OP a bit. I have hit reset button on the poll so you can go and cast your vote for the champion in the new season.
Done. I have voted to my favorite club as before and I hope they can win again in the next season.  Grin
Anyway, it seems I am the third person to vote after you reset the poll. Let's hope we have more voters this season.

We managed to hit 163 pages in one season time so it seams there is a lot of opinions in this thread.
Yep, I am not surprised if one season we can achieve 163 pages. As long as there are Real Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga, we will always have a lot of comments daily in this thread. The rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona is the most exciting nowadays. So, don't be so surprised if the next season we will have more than 200 pages.  Cheesy

Slava Ukraini!
Finally we know all 20 teams who will play in next season La Liga. Last team is Elche - they won promotional playoffs yesterday after beating Girona. Well, Elche isn't team which I preferred to see in La Liga. Their pitch quality is terrible and I expect to see them in the bottom of table next season. I really wanted to see Girona and their leader Stuani in La Liga again. He is just too good to play in Segunda - 31 goals this season. Unfortunately he got red card yesterday.

I am feeling now Barcelona is going for many new players as few hours ago on twitter we have koeman told Suarez and Vidal look for new clubs mean they are going to change too many players before new season its really amazing.
I don't believe that big changes is going to happen before new season. First, season is going to start just after few weeks, so it's not much time for serious rebuild of squad. Another problem - now Barca simply don't enough money available for it.

Bartomeu deserves to loose next year’s election, and due to his ego it’s quite possible that we may see Messi leave on a free transfer in the 2021 summer transfer window.

I don't know exactly how this happened. If management wants messi to leave,  I think it will be done before the contract runs out. The decision has to be made, of course it will be bad at first. But for future projections I think this is the initial plan to renew the team, for the better.
