It really hurts me as a Barca fan to see the way the team played last night, getting desperate with their shots even though they actually had the game in control. Even took me so long to finally write about it.

This was a long time in the signs already of course and we really need fresh blood. Fans say luckily Real are also in decline, but we forget to respect others like Athletico and Sevilla.

In my opinion,  it's not good and healthy when one team depends so much on one player.
Messi is probably one of the 3 the best players in soccer history but he is not young any more.
How long he can still play?
What will happen with Barca when Messi retire?
Who can replace Messi?

It is certainly a problem for any club to depend that much on one player, but i don't blame Barcelona that much.

Messi is such a brilliant  player that it would be the same in any other club. When you have  such a talent, it would be foolish not to build the system around him, and take the advantages of his strengths. And as we can see, it worked well so far, with Barcelona being most dominant team in quite some time. They might constrain him more, but in the process that would maybe mean less trophies won. They even sacrifiesed another great player, Ibrahimovic , in the process while loosing Etoo, that fitted that Barcelona perfectly.

Barcelona will certainly have huge issues after he retires, but i think it was worth it, it was a good trade off for Barcelona in the end.

Yes,  I agree with you.
When you have such great player like Messi,  you build team around him.
But,  I don’t see that Barcelona have some long term strategy for the "world after Messi ".
What about their sport academy?
Young players?
They just buying new players without any concrete plan and strategy.

That is true, La Masia is not effective anymore, not producing quality players like they used to and this will become problem in future unless they change something.

Few years ago they lost one very interesting player that impressed me during Euro U21, Dani Olmo that won Euro with Spain team, while being one of their best players. He  did unexpected move, left their academy and went to Dinamo Zagreb where he developed into very good player, basically more offensive Modric, with a bit different skill set but same potential of becoming great player. They might bring him back, for maybe 30-40 million. That is nothing for them nowadays and i think they will have to get used to buying players like all the other top  teams.

But then again they  don't have strategy regarding buying finsished players either, when we saw what happened with Coutinho.Time will tell i guess.

Just voted on the poll and viewed the current result, it's surprising no one has voted for Atletico Madrid to win the league title this season, while Sevilla and Valencia has gotten picked (most likely by club fans).
I think Atletico do stand a very big chance this season to challenge for the title and make the race exciting.
Barcelona of course leads the poll, and after eight league titles in eleven years you would expect so.

I think it's still early to tell the right team to win the title, In fact, Atletico deserve the title for this season, but to win the championship must make a long way to fight Barcelona and Real.

After Griezmann left, It will be very hard for Atletico to win the title. They are weakened a lot.
And apart from that, Real made some important transfers. I think that after the mid - season they are going to dominate the championship and apparently win the title.

I remember a couple of people here stating that Joao Felix was an overrated inexperience kid whose price tag was going to be a waste of Money for Atletico Madrid but as things are, considering the Preseason matches too, kid  has been so impressive.

I was one of them and I am not afraid to admit I was wrong. 120m still looks a bit much for unproven player but I must say Felix really impressed me at the start of season. If he continues like this he will quickly pay off his transfer fee.

So last night's results told us what, except the teams people are thinking will have an outside chance of winning the league, are confirming the hype. No surprises here at all, unlike Granada hitting 4 at Villareal last night. Joao Felix sort of impressed too I guess, mostly quiet but he had that solo run leading to a penalty, so Atletico will feel they have a chance.

818 days since Real last topped Barca in league table, by the way.

I believe in Diego Simeone, he has the ability to bring out the best in players and in a couple of years, Felix will be targeted by most major clubs across Europe

Off for a new start

Up next will either be Dembele or Malcom. Players are failing to make a mark in Barcelona and finally having to go some where.
What could be happening?
Is it that the most recent coaches have been clueless about how to grow talent and improve on the new payers' confidence?
Remember
Arda Turan and Paco Alcacer?

This year started well for Real Madrid as they won against a losing game that Barcelona made a false step.

In this league usually the ones that start with the right foot they continue to do well but we have to see how it will go.
I believe Real Madrid will be the favourite to win the league this year.

I believe that's the reason why they are so intent on bringing Neymar back from PSG, Messi is getting older and with age comes the injuries so he won't be able to help them all the time and with Suarez, his time is almost over and Coutinho didn't really work out for Barca and with Dembele, he is still young and still in his developmental stages. Getting Neymar should be a priority at the moment for the catalans or they risk him joining Real Madrid.

Atletico are kind of the dark horse among the top three Spanish teams, they had an incredible summer transfer window, despite losing their best player to Barcelona, (and maybe having to over pay for one of their sign-ins.
Then again, it's just one game and the season is going to be a long protracted one.

It looks promising for Atletico Madrid, they certainly have chance to win league this year, both Barcelona and real Madrid don't look invincible.Joao Alex will need some time to get used to Atletico Madrid, it wasnt easy game for him last night, defenders really focused on him.
Of those new guys, i liked Tripper too, he was very good.
Never rule out the possibility of these two team to take up their games and become what they were in the last season, they lost to their opponents doesn't means that they can't do far better than what they do in the picth of play, Atletico M are better but personally am not seeing them as the team of this season.

Till 2 months ago I used to guess Real Madrid will be the champions of 2019-20. I expected Zidan to manage to win this season with. But now my mind has changed a bit. I still believe there's aprobability that Real Madrid will make it. But I don't faith in Real Madrid as much as before. Real Madrid's pre-season results were really awful. It doesn't seem that Luka Jovic can be a big goal scorer.
I also expected Paul Pogba to be brought to Real Madrid. So, I think, there will be problems in midfield too.
Now I think Atletico and Barcelona have greater chance of winning this season of La liga. It's really difficult for me to choose one of these two teams.

Real Madrid has bought a lot of new players during the transfer window.
They will need time to perform at their best, so all we can do is to give them time.
I don't think that Barcelona is going to win the title again this season. I expect them to have problems in their defense and concede a lot of goals.

Yes, Sooner or later Lionel Messi will retire and most probably what is now happening for Real Madrid after Cristiano Ronaldo will happen for Barcelona too. But I am sure that effect won't be permanent. Barcelona is a big club with great academies. I expect them to manage to find an alternative. But it will probably take some times.

Are there no great young players on Barca squad? Why not promote them instead of looking for players to buy?
Sometimes I wonder why these clubs have their young squad or school if they never use the players in the end.

There's Puig, Oriel, Alena who are promising young talents. But the board has not been as efficient in managing young talents as it did a decade ago. Xavi Simon's was lost to PSG recently and others as well. The team now wants to buy talent rather than build.
I agree with your thoughts. Who is the last player from academy who plays in starting squad of Barca? Sergi Roberto? There is so many academy talent wasted in recent years and hundreds millions spent in transfer market. And many times these millions been wasted. Alena, Puig is very talented player, but there is no guarantees that they will become future of Barca.
But I'm not concerned much about loss of Simmons. Yeah, he is great talent, but when 16 old teenager lesves team just to get a bit more money, it shows that not everything is ok with his attitude. But knowing that his agent is Mino Raiola it's not surprising...

Betis loss cost me some money. They got very early red card and weren't able to play good football against Valladolid. Not the best day for me, because also bet on Chelsea win earlier today. Hope thst at least Atletico will win. 20 minutes left and they're leading just 1:0.
