Are there no great young players on Barca squad? Why not promote them instead of looking for players to buy?
Sometimes I wonder why these clubs have their young squad or school if they never use the players in the end.
Thats the thing with training players from the youth, in the end, things doesn't always pan out the way that you may want them to, Even with the La Masia academy their best exports so far are Messi, Iniest and Xavi trio and with the competitiveness of the La Liga, one can't simply wait for these players to develop and have to buy.
In some way money has ruined the tradition of having homegrown players especially in those top clubs. Top clubs in the top leagues simply don't have that patience anymore to wait for a player to develop for 5-6 years from childhood and the most painful thing is to have your player develop only for him to be bought off by another club.
Look at Arsenal, they even don't produce young great talent anymore because of that.
The few clubs that try to do that get their players bought off as soon as they show some signs of a brighter future. Clubs like Dortmund, Monaco and the latest Victim being Ajax have all suffered the same fate.

Why do you have to buy?
Because that's the instant way to get great players in football. If a club buys a well-known and great player, there is definitely an added value to the sale of merchandise. You can't just hope in the academy, because it certainly takes time for someone to develop again.

The defeat was not expected, but San Memes is not a turf where you go expecting easy victories, Athlectic Bilbao are a brilliant side who can hurt any opponent if they get the chance. Batca played much below par.

There's Puig, Oriel, Alena who are promising young talents. But the board has not been as efficient in managing young talents as it did a decade ago. Xavi Simon's was lost to PSG recently and others as well. The team now wants to buy talent rather than build.

That is the beauty of football, and it should be like that. An interesting match is the one where the result is not predictable or if the result is 180 degrees different from what most people expected. After all, football is a team game, not a single or double match.

That match yesterday simply demonstrated that there is an over dependence on Messi... When Messi is absent, Barcelona's fear factor goes away tooHopefully Real Madrid don't lose points too today.

I wrote in the old thread that I believe Atletico Madrid will open the league in superb form and take 1st position. I am seeing them as winter champions and then it will be a question if they are able to keep it when Barca and/or Real start playing better in few months time.
