Andriy Lunin signs new Real Madrid contract extension until 2028


Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has signed a new three-year contract with the club.

The Athletic previously reported that the Ukraine international, who had one year left on his contract, was expected to stay at the club during the summer transfer window and was close to agreeing a new deal.

He has now signed a new contract with Madrid that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2028.

Madrid and Lunin reached a verbal agreement over a new deal before the end of last season.

However, the 25-year-old had doubts about extending his stay at the Spanish club due to Courtois’ importance and the lack of playing time he might receive as a result.

Lunin joined Madrid from FC Zorya Luhansk in 2018 with a contract until 2024. In 2019, he renewed until 2025 — although the deal was not officially announced by the club.

In four league games, Atletico Madrid have been able to take 8 points from a possible 12 points which is also the same number of points Real Madrid have managed to pickup from their first four league games. The problem with fans and some football analyst is that as soon as a player who has been in a good performance signs for a new team they just want to start seeing results almost immediately and this is exactly what happened to Kylian Mbappe, when he played about two games and couldn't score for Madrid, a lot of people started questioning why he hasn't scored yet but as he scored in their game against Real Betis they started praising him again. Real Madrid players needs sometimes to get good bonds for better performance.

Yes that is what Julian Albarez needs most at the moment is time to adapt to his new teammates. Alvarez joined Spanish La Liga club Atletico Madrid after breaking his two-year relationship with Manchester City, but he has yet to shine in the few matches he has played for the club. His performance doesn't well in Atletico Madrid unlike Palmer that can really perform in Chelsea, I guess that's what encourage Alvarez to join a new team. Honestly his performance when he play for Manchester City and Argentina weren't that good, I think it's hard for him to improve due having many International trophies, this will make him pressured.

Courtois is already 32 years old, probably Maignan can still able to play for couple more years when he turns 30.

Maignan is a goalkeeper with good reflexes, but when talking about replacing Thibaut Courtois, I think Real Madrid should choose a younger goalkeeper considering that Usai Maignan is now 29 years old and is not a good long-term choice to defend Real Madrid. In my opinion, El Real should give a chance to Andriy Lunin, as a backup goalkeeper he is very good at guarding his goal, I myself was amazed when he played in the UCL competition last season. And honestly Lunin deserves the chance.

Honestly these guys need to wake up because they were among those teams that did well last season and seeing them playing like a team that was promoted to the senior division for the first time is worrisome. Girona are too good to see them struggle in a league that they're familiar with, imagine how they played against ATM without getting a goal and it hurt to support a team that we all thought would be champions last season but at the end they lost that composure of getting points from all corners.
They did very well to finish in the top 4 to grant them the opportunity to play in the champions league and now the pressure other teams faced when they (Girona) were dominating the league and staying on top of the table will show how capable they are to endure the pressure of playing different competitions. Is better to see them play in the champions league than only the domestic competitions, I want to see that strength they have.

It's hard to conclude it is a good decision for Julian Alvarez because he only had first matches for Atletico Madrid but I respect him by making this big decision and ready to accept challenge.

Julian Alvarez just arrived Spain before the season kicked off and hasn't played up to ten matches this season and shouldn't be judged by his few appearances for Athletico Madrid, though his performances so far for Athletico Madrid has not been as impressive as everyone expected for a player of his caliber but all I can say is that Julian Alvarez is a quality player and will always remain that world class player we all know him for when he was at Manchester city and when he plays for his national team. Julian Alvarez was part of the team that won the FIFA world cup with Argentina in Qatar a couple of years ago, and he also went on to win the UEFA champions league with Manchester City and so many other laurels with his former club and I think with time he will show the same quality he had when he was at Manchester city but for now I think it's too early to start talking about his performances at the moment because he needs time to adapt to his new club and the league entirely.

Everyone is accustomed to the fact that these are the two most powerful clubs and they decide among themselves who is stronger, but sometimes Atletico try to compete with them, in this off-season they intensified the team well, so I do not exclude the possibility of what they will try to do it again.
