No person or organization can control or manipulate the Bitcoin protocol because it is cryptographically secure. That allows you to trust the central part of Bitcoin, for its neutrality, transparency and predictability.

Most of the new Brands will fit the needs for most wallets, so you do not have to worry much about that. There are people

running desktop wallets on much older notebooks without any problems. You might have to invest in the biggest HDD you

can afford, because the Blockchain is growing bigger by the day.  Grin

I saw somewhere that someone was running a Full node on a Lenovo T440 Thinkpad with an Intel i5, 4GB of RAM and a

500GB HDD.  Wink

What does HDD mean and what is it's function?

HDD simply mean hard Disk and it's the permanent storage device of the computer.

Bitcoin Core is compatible with the anonymising service Tor, which can be used to hide your IP address and make it much harder for third parties to link your real name with your bitcoin transactions.Bitcoin Core downloads the entire history of all bitcoin transactions, the software can search through the data to discover which of those transactions include payments to you. By running Bitcoin Core, you are guaranteed to have perfect privacy in relation to your incoming transactions.

Coming to secure wallets, I feel that hardware wallets like Trezor are the best way to secure your bitcoins and popular altcoins like Ethereum. Desktop wallets are the second best alternative according to me and many others, but it does not matter what desktop or laptop you are using. The thing that matters the most here is how safely you secured your system from viruses(Can hack into your desktop or laptop and steal your credentials) and if you didn't do anything stupid like giving away your private key etc. If you have secured your system properly, you should not face any form of trouble.

It doesn't matter which laptop or desktop that we used, bitcoin doesn't have any connection with any specific laptop or desktop system companies. You can download wallets in your system for this the system company is not a big deal for this.

If you use a hardware purse, then it does not matter the brand of the laptop. The hardware wallet works well with any laptop. I recommend a Trezor.

I'm looking to purchase a new laptop and I want to know, which brand would be best compatible with #Bitcoin core wallets and upgrades.

Any brand. It's irrelevant...

Irrelevant to the security but not to reliability. I know many people who had trouble with certain brands.
For instance a friend had an Acer that had problems with overheating. I was repairing it for him and discovered that the quality of the product was very low.

I had a number of laptops in my life and have to say that most Dells, at least the ones from mid-high price range, are of good quality.
With a laptop you really want something that can survive being carried around and thrown around in a bag.

If we talk about security aspects please consider only hardware wallets.Noone is guaranteed in online world, spcially for crypto valuable assets. It is worth to purchase offline personal notebook and never use it for other things.
security is the both hardware and software. We only differentiate these things. Lot of threatening is happen in current market. We must careful to protect our things. But I suggest laptop is secured. This is easy to handle in any area and it will more comfort and convenient in user. They don't take more space. Antivirus is also easily fixed in laptop.

This is great. I've been hearing alot about Linux but I don't know what brand they are with or download the software?
Linux is compatible with any brand, you just have to boot your system. Most of the new laptops comes with windows installed so installing linux on that windows platform might be little tricky but there are guides on how to do this like http://www.zdnet.com/article/how-to-install-linux-mint-on-your-windows-pc/

Here is guide on how to install bitcoin core (node) in different operating systems https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node

What security services should I use?

Judging how no one is letting up in this fork debate I see that in the future bitcoin wallet providers will be speaking out on which chain they will be a part of. I just want to be as close to correct as possible.

Any brand will do sir. you are needing only a device to download wallet and store your bitcoin which we called cold storage. You can choose what you like or what you can buy with your budget.

Just follow the basics and don't download anything that you don't trust and stop visiting random websites. You don't need a antivirus if you follow those steps.

Any brand it doesn't matter, are you gonna use it only to maintain a full node?

If not you can install a OS in USB and you have very interested projects like bitkey

Whatever Desktop PC or Laptop you buy is irrelevant since you have a good anti virus installed and don't be a fool to fall in tricks and scammer websites. Brand is also irrelevant because the safety of your coins depends on what you are doing in internet and just make sure you have your private key secured. But there are some advices I can give you like buy a 64Bits OS, since they are safer than 32Bits, if you can afford a Mac would be great, but if you have just a few coins to store or something like that a laptop should solve your problem. A ledger nano (hardwar wallet) should be great if you don't want to mess with windows wallets etc, and they have many wallets to store coins like bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, dash, and they add more coins eventually.

 Smiley Hey ...
Any descent company will do also you know rather than company go for good specifications and nice warranty period.
Because wallets are available for every operating system thus you won't have any problems as long as you choose a wallet with nice security and you should always keep your private key safe ...also purchase a antivirus software so that you won't have any problems in the future, because if you are gonna use Internet then problems like this might arrise.

Anyways apple is a nice choice 😉

Whether it's desktop or laptop, the security is completely dependent on the users self interest on programming and exploring much about the different methods to improve the security. In specific different actions can be made to increase the security levels which needs complex solution generating source.

Thats true its the users habits which normally get them to download dodgy stuff. But i will that the new Microsoft 10 privacy updates are a concern and I would recommend linux before it anyday.

For those people that are telling that the brands of laptop doesn't matter. Okay go get and buy some those laptops that aren't branded because there are class A's laptops that aren't even lasting for years. I'm not going to mention one of it because I won't to tell or destroy their reputation here in forum. Just buy those known brands and you are good to go if you'll just going to use it for wallet apps.

I think that electrum is the suitable wallet for your laptop at the moment. It is a good wallet which you have full access to your bitcoin as well as your private key. Moreover, it is not heavy like the CORE. YOu do not need to download the whole blockchain to be able to use the wallet. Well, and you can also use trezor or ledger wallet with electrum because it supports those hardware wallets

Damn I didn't know that thanks
