Personally I'd rather have preferred to see them build a stronger device (or a new version of S & X) than something made of shitty plastic and a poor quality circuit board. And fixing the buggy Ledger Live

I wouldn't mind Ledger making one such a durable and more resilient device, maybe something like Trezor One Metallic, but you have to be aware that such a device would have a fairly high price - in case of Trezor 600+ EUR (but it is also limited edition).

Since I own both models (S&X), I can tell you that the X looks much better made, the metal part is a little thicker and the device itself is much firmer and more compact when you take it in hand. However, to the best of my knowledge, hardware wallet body parts are manufactured in China and assembled in France. Some users are right to complain about quality, and I have identified some small deficiencies with a thorough review, but luckily it's not anything that affects security, which is most important to me. That link is posted 10 months ago, so I believe that improvements have been made in terms of quality. As for Ledger Live, I personally have no problem using the S or X model on Windows 10

Ledger Nano X Build Quality Issues

I would have no problem paying a higher price for something more solid even if the price is multiplied by 3 or 4, depending on what is added of course. All other components are of good quality, weld seams included but the points I mentioned suck. Ledger live, I'm still using the December version, I never managed to find a solution to their bug and I gave up

I didn't know this version of Trezor but I think the $600 price is too much. For such a price, you can get something done with gold plating lol.

I would love this. I already posted about it 1 or 2 years ago, rugged waterproof version of Ledger would be very needed thing. Current devices looks very vulnerable and easy to break. I always afraid thst I may accidentally drop my wallet on the floor and break it.

If a day you try to disassemble it to see how it's built inside you will see how easy it is to open it, even a 5-year-old child can do it with a screwdriver. Even removing the battery of your smartphone can be harder.

The circuit board doesn't even have a treatment against humidity. It may seem a stupid thing but actually it's not. That should be the basis.

It's really the 2 weak points of these devices. The microcontrollers, connectors, etc are fine otherwise. And since you talk about dropping accidentally your wallet on the floor... It happened to me, now the device is like if I own it for 15 years.

Later today they announced partnership with Crypto.com, where you can purchase Ledger wallet using Crypto.com coin and get 10% cashback. But I'm not really sure that's same thing as they advertised in previous tweet. I expected for something bigger than this. Maybe adding some important cryptocurrencies, instead of useless tokens or partnership with big exchange like Binance.

I saw that tweet, and was pondering what it could be.  If I'm to venture a guess I'd say they are planning to integrating some type of exchange capability into Ledger Live.  A P2P type of exchange would be cool, but I could see them partnering with an established exchange also.  Either way, that would be a pretty cool feature.

Any ideas? It's not the crypto.com partnership, is it?

No, it's a bitcoins generator. you deposit x BTC and receive x BTC automatically

Just joking of course...

It wouldn't surprise me to see a partnership with a company or to add Atomic swap.

I didn't want to open a new thread just for this.
Ledger seems to be working on a new feature. They are keeping it secret for now but they gave a hint: crypto integration

The codes are invalid now. Can you help me to get another working code? I want to buy 2 or 3 new devices and I won't refuse a discount. xD
There are definitely only a few valid words left. I started the script at the start of "L" (for LeGaulois Tongue), and let it run through all L, M, N, O, P, Q and R words for a total of 595 entries. The only valid code it found was "motor" for 20% off.

I wouldn't worry about missing this promotion, though. They have some sort of sale on every other month it seems.

I'm a bit lazy to make something with Imacro and more to look manually.

DireWolfM14, you may need to look at the user's post history so some things will become clear. I'm not hard to anyone if I tell the truth, and I don't think I wrote any lies when it comes to the user in question.

Of course, it is better to ask than to live in ignorance or to make a cardinal mistake, but one must also adopt shared knowledge, and not act in a way that he forgets all that he has previously learned. I am not competent to say what is in his head, but if he does not begin to understand the things that have been explained to him for years, it is only a matter of time before he will make that one fatal mistake.

I think that jerry0 in fact just thinking aloud, and I think the next week until the action runs, he won't actually make the order. If by any chance he does, and if he buys an X model, there is no need to doubt a whole new dimension of confusion that will overwhelm him. Personally in my almost 5 years on the forum, I did not see such a paranoid and confused person who shows up every couple of months with the same questions...

I wouldn't be so hard on the guy.  He's obviously confused about some things, and asking questions is better than making assumptions.  There's no such thing as a stupid question when one's wealth is at risk.

I would rather see a dozen people asking "stupid" questions than one person making a mistake that costs him money.

Ledger's most recent tweet mentioned there are 300 words still available. They even gave out one word for free.
https://twitter.com/Ledger/status/1242088620468641794

If the suggested words by o_e_l_e_o don't work, try to follow their twitter, maybe you get lucky and you are there at the time they post a new word or a bunch of them.

Let me know if they have already been used by the time you go to order, and I'll search for another one.

I made a quick and dirty script to auto-try a bunch of words to find one for you. The word silent will give you a 25% discount. Settle, seven, shell, shield, and shift are all still valid for a 20% discount.

Let me know if they have already been used by the time you go to order, and I'll search for another one.

Okay so when i order the device, open the package with gloves.
Unless you are planning to live your entire life wearing gloves, and changing them every time you touch something, then this is pointless. Just don't touch your face and wash your hands thoroughly.

Okay well that definitely sucks then that you have to keep trying all the words.  People must be taking an hour at least to get the code in now.

Someone said over half the word list has been used so more than one thousand has been sold... is that correct?  And if so, how do you know this?

3 days ago, Ledger tweeted that there were roughly 800 words left. They will probably tweet again when all of the words will have been already used.

Obviously i want to get the discount as well... but how do i know if there are still codes left?  Do i basically look at that word list and copy and paste it into discount code until i make a match?

Yes, you won't know unless you try all of the words.

Okay so when i order the device, open the package with gloves.  I still have to do this with the box as well?  But the moment i open the box... obviously remove the gloves when i touch the nano ledger s right?

So basically even if you touch something, as long as you don't touch your face, you are fine?

One other thing.  I tried to order it on the ledger site and tried a bunch of discount codes.  I went to the link that shows all the word list and randomly tried about thirty words and all say not valid.  Someone said over half the word list has been used so more than one thousand has been sold... is that correct?  And if so, how do you know this?  Obviously i want to get the discount as well... but how do i know if there are still codes left?  Do i basically look at that word list and copy and paste it into discount code until i make a match?

Anyone know how long it takes to receive in the US now?
Ledger's website has an update page here: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012650219-COVID-19-zip-codes-affected-by-the-Coronavirus-situation.
It states that some countries and regions are under quarantine and can't be shipped to, but it makes no mention of prolonged shipping times to other areas.

Anything can be contaminated at this time.
This. Everything that you buy, from hardware wallets to food and toilet paper, will have been touched by countless other people before it reaches you. It is completely unrealistic to expect people to handle everything with gloves and disinfect everything before using it. You are far less likely to catch coronavirus from the packaging of a Ledger than you are by going to your local supermarket and doing your normal shopping. Just wash your hands after you've unwrapped it and don't touch your face.

But we should be concerned about the virus?  I never thought about this.  But you mean the outside of the packaging or the ledger itself?
Anything can be contaminated at this time. When you leave your building to go to work and you grab the door handle, it can in theory have been touched by an infected subject just 5 minutes before you. Same with the Ledger, or the packaging, etc, etc.

Just follow the standard precautions and don't lick the door handle or the device  Grin
