But we should be concerned about the virus?  I never thought about this.  But you mean the outside of the packaging or the ledger itself?

There is always a risk, it does not necessarily mean that the shipment will come infected from the EU, it can be infected by anyone in the delivery chain so it is best to to pick it up in gloves, throw away the envelope and disinfect the Ledger packaging.

Anyone know how long it takes to receive in the US now?

I assume the delivery time would be about 7 days under normal circumstances, but due to the current situation it is likely more than that. There is an alternative to ordering the device from authorized resellers in the USA, which certainly shortens the delivery time.

Has anyone bought this recently shipped to the US?  I will most likely do so when I get back to the US since my nano ledger s display is extremely dim.  You can barely read the screen display because its so dim.

I think you meant to say 9 hours, right? I believe 8-9 hours on clothing are the numbers that are circulating in media these days. It can survive the longest on metal, up to 12 hours. At least scientists seem to have discovered that the virus can't be transmitted over paper bills.

No, I think up to 9 days based on this link : Persistence of coronaviruses on inanimate surfaces and their inactivation with biocidal agents

Of course, the survival time of a virus depends on factors such as temperature and humidity (check Table 1 on link), and it is therefore possible to get infectious package, because for us who live in EU, delivery time is usually 3-5 days.

Today I got email that there is less than50% of discount codes left. It means Ledger sold over 1000 devices with promo codes just in few days. I don't think it's bad numbers considering current situation in the world and crypto markets.

There is msny different researches which tell different numbers and we can't know which one is right. I saw article which says that virus can survive up to 3 days on plastic and stainless steel.

...be careful and disinfect the shipment as the virus can survive up to 9 days on different materials.

The way the crypto market looks now, I would never spend Bitcoin for such purchases. I'd much rather spend my fiat than giving away 40-50% more Bitcoin.

Nice offer, but definitely bad timing. Not only because of the possibility of getting infected with COVID-19 if we consider how many hands package need to change, but also because of the crypto price that has fallen below all expectations. If one chooses to buy, be careful and disinfect the shipment as the virus can survive up to 9 days on different materials. Good luck to pick a valid word Wink
I agree - it's terrible timining. I think that chance to get infected from package is low, it's more likely to get infected while you take package from post office.
And probably in current situation, getting hardware wallet is very low on people's priority list. There is so many more important things right. And especialky, when crypto have fallen so much, interest in it have reduced very significantly.
But I suppose that Ledger aren't selling many wallets these days. So, they have to react somehow and push sales a bit.

I didn't want to create a separate thread just for this post so this one works as well.

Ledger is offering a new 20-25% discount on their wallets Ledger Nano S, Nano X, and the Backup Pack. The offer is valid until 31 March.
If you have registered to their newsletter, check your email.

If not here is what you need to do:

1. Add the product you want to buy to the cart.

2. Pick a word from the bip list and enter it in discount code area during checkout. The full list of words is available here.
here. A word can be used only once! If you receive the message: "The provided code is invalid", you can try another word.

3. Complete your purchase.

All info is available at https://shop.ledger.com/pages/2048-discount-codes

But in terms of using it, is the nano ledger x better than the s?  But i believe the nano ledger x... you can send btc without having it connected to a computer right?  I know with the ledger nano s, you need to connect it to a computer... am i right?
You still need SOMETHING to connect to it... You cannot send directly from the Ledger Nano X. As with the Nano S, you still need a computer or phone, it's just that with Bluetooth connectivity, you don't need an OTG cable to connect to your phone..

If both were same price, do you get the nano ledger x or the s?
The Nano X obviously. It's newer and has more storage and features. There is a reason why the Nano S is cheaper than the Nano X Roll Eyes

I got this email as well.  If you already have a nano ledger s, should you buy this deal?  I mean if you have no hardware wallet, is it a no brainer to get this since you are essentially getting 2 hardware wallets?  How much is total price including tax?  What about shipping?  When i ordered my nano ledger s years ago, i did expedited shipping and total cost was like 130 dollars or more i believe.  Now i see the ledger nano s price is a lot less.

But in terms of using it, is the nano ledger x better than the s?  But i believe the nano ledger x... you can send btc without having it connected to a computer right?  I know with the ledger nano s, you need to connect it to a computer... am i right?

My nano ledger s i had for 2 years, the screen i notice recently is very dim.  Anyone here ever had this issue?  I read nano s does not use a battery but does last for 5 years.  So anyone had to replace it because of a dimmed screen?  Im close to positive i did not do anything with the brightness as i never even touched that ever.

If both were same price, do you get the nano ledger x or the s?  I assume you could hold a ton of other coins with the x right?  The s, i know you can only hold a few and need to remove/install app each time if you have more than 4 coins right?  I see on the site you could install up to 100 coins... that is crazy.

If you plan to get another ledger nano s, would you say best to get this deal as oppose to just buying another nano ledger s?

To those that have both of these, which do you prefer?

People (I mean reputed resellers) can literally sell the other device locally and earn profit so this way Ledger would lose.

Everyone who sells something is doing it for profit, and so are those who resell a product. I personally don't know at what price resellers buy from Ledger, but surely the discount depends on the amount of units they buy. Ledger certainly does not lose anything in wholesale, and any reseller can sell devices at a price that brings him profits.

Of course, it doesn't make sense for resellers to sell at a higher price than the official site, unless the final price is identical or approximately the same when all costs are added up. So if you can buy device directly from Ledger for $100 included shipping+VAT, would you buy from your local reseller for $105? Makes no sense, unless it is a direct purchase in a physical store so you as buyer save some time on delivery.

In case if someone may be interested, Ledger have another offer.
I couldn't find this on the site directly but I received an email with that offer from Ledger. I guess you did as well and you took the links from there.
If anyone is considering buying a Ledger device my advice is to subscribe to the newsletter. They might have more of these special offers in the future.

They could simply sell Ledger Nano X at a discount but now I can see the price of Ledger Nano X and the combo price is the same. Earlier they were offering discount coupons which was more reasonable.

Or perhaps you can find a friend that is considering a hardware wallet... and you can split the $59 savings...

For instance:
One person gets Nano X for: $89
Other person gets Nano S for: $30

Seems like a win for everyone... or you can simply buy the Nano X and get a "free" backup Nano S... Whichever way you look at it, it's still a decent savings of around 30%

If I didn't have a hardware wallet already and a friend offered me the chance to get a Nano S for $30... I'd be like:

ETFbitcoin, it is true that only OTG cable gives almost the same functionality to Nano S, but still, the idea of Ledger is for users to use 2 hardware wallets (for those who need it) which certainly makes sense considering that they need a business strategy to sell the new model while retaining the demand for the old model.

I personally used Electrum on my smartphone, but when the Nano X was at a 35% discount, it seemed like a pretty good opportunity for extra security.

Another Ledger Nano X & Ledger Nano S bundle? They seriously want people to choose/use Ledger Nano X as their main hardware wallet rather than Ledger Nano S

Nano X is being promoted as a mobile HW (on the go) because it has Bluetooth, which is combined with Ledger Live mobile app. Definitely a far safer option than any mobile wallet, especially for those who like to spend some coins in physical stores. On the other hand, the Nano S is being promoted as an HW that never leaves home/apartment security and where most of the assets are stored. This definitely makes sense to me, but while the price of the Nano X is still quite high for most, the older model won't be so easy to forget.

Does anyone know about the upcoming occasions when new discounts that could occur?

Probably on the occasion of Easter, and maybe halving. For those who are considering buying an HW, any opportunity like this is a good thing. €59 savings it's not something that looks bad.

I probably should sign up for their mailing list or something, but I hate those kinds of things.
I have never received spam or bullshit emails from them, so you don't need to worry about that. I also used an email address that is not on top of my priority list.

@joniboini, @LTU_btc
You don't have to gift it to your partner. Buy the bundle together with a friend or sell the other one and get some of your investment back. Give it away or use it as payment for a service... the options are numerous.

We seem lucky this year, 3 months of continuous discount offers, starting at Christmas, Black Friday, the beginning of the year, Valentine and so on. Does anyone know about the upcoming occasions when new discounts that could occur?

I'm wondering why Ledger are giving Nano S wallets for free again? Maybe they want to get rid all remaining their Nano S wallets ASAP and remove it from market?

Generally, they offer almost the same offers with some features, and this may be an indication of the success of previous seasons.
Does anyone know how much profit has been achieved?

I'm just weirdly thinking that they almost celebrate every occasion that we have in this world. Lol. But at least you could say to someone that if they are interested in getting a Ledger, they could just wait for the next holiday to come and they could score the best deal with that.

I do think that making Nano X as the main wallet is good, I'm just not sure what you could do with the other one. I use mine as an emergency wallet that I wouldn't touch for anything unless of course, the emergency.

Sadly we're 12 hours apart and I doubt she likes an HW wallet as her birthday present.
It would really be weird to gift someone (not just your GF) with a crypto-related device and they got nothing to do with it. Maybe giving that to someone would lead them to support Bitcoin as well? Hmm.
