Suchmoon has answered your question, LoyceV also gave the same answer which is perfect. This is not about defending you, a newbie-like legendary posting 2 to 3 line contents should not be the one correcting you.
You misquoted the post, it was my post as if it was written by smartaction while that answer was devoted to me. I think you need to fix it.
True, some people tried to correct and some others tried to provide solutions and I think both are useful to me. Now I know what the problem is, and as you said, I have a solution here on what to do next.

Thanks for the corrections and constructive suggestions. I locked this thread in 24 hours.

Most of your posts are in the gambling, Bitcoin Discussion, Speculation section and your local Board  (Indonesian) You post here just to cover your weekly signature post.
Then which boards do you want the posts to be?

if you want to get merit you must create quality and useful posts. try it to get merit
I have just gone through your merit history, no merit received in  the last 120 days, no merit received in 150 days back till now as well. You have only received 13 merits in total since merit system was implemented, the remaining 1000 merits were automatically given you when merit system was implemented. That is a sign that you know how quality post can be and which boards to post.

But of course, I'm not defending it but I just want to assume about what is quality and what is quantity.
No, you don't have to defend me. Let them judge.

It is true that I have a habit of posting on gambling board regardless of whether it is out of campaign necessity or because I am a football fan. But unfortunately that doesn't mean I don't care about the quality of posts where I can also post on some board and topics that interest me. You can also check my post history, of course.

I'm glad some of you have tried to figure out what got me into this situation, and also thanks to anyone who helped. I'm doing this simply because I want to contribute to the community even though I'm not interested in applying to be a service resource. Once in a while it's good to self-correct for progress, and you've all done that for me. I'll try to find a way out myself to do my best, it's really a good challenge to keep the quality.

I don't have time to go over your full post history, so I have a request: Can you post links to some of your best posts in [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source (quote this post in that topic if you want)? If I agree (and can read them), I'll Merit them.
Perhaps, I will do it at your request.

But of course, I'm not defending it but I just want to assume about what is quality and what is quantity.

smartaction, He could expect it based on the Merit summary history he had. I feel that quantity can't be compared to quality, meaning it's useless if you post 45-100 posts every week but without quality then all your posts are trash and spam.

It's much better if you have very few posts [even if they only fill your campaign's weekly quota] if you really care about the quality of your posts than if you have 100 spam posts spread across multiple boards for the same purpose. But of course, I'm not defending it but I just want to assume about what is quality and what is quantity.

I don't know how many people ignore my post than it deserves, it doesn't matter to me. But I just want you to correct me about do I get more merit because I also believe that it can help other users? I currently have 0 sMerit, it makes it hard for me to appreciate other users' quality posts.
I actually do not think users or merit sources would skip your post just cause you're a legendary member, they could prolly expect something of the highest quality from someone who has reached the highest rank on the forum, thereby increasing their standard requirement, they would also prolly not review your post history or give you merits in bulk since you have no more ranking up to do, but that still doesn't mean that they will completely ignore your post. There are quite a lot of legendary members that get merited on a daily basis, my theory is this, Legendary rank I think comes with "responsibility" of some sort, and a higher expectation in terms of quality, I'm not saying you don't make quality posts, but maybe you have to take it up a bit after hitting the legendary rank, inorder to get merited constantly.

ShowOff, I'm not going to teach you how you get merit and how you spend them because I'm sure you know how these merit systems work. You've got 544 merit now and it's true that the numbers aren't what you'd expect [it might be], but you'll quickly see why it slows down once you get enough answers here.

In my opinion whoever makes quality posts then they deserve to be merit regardless of their current rank. I'm not saying you're not a quality poster, but there are times when your habit of posting on boards that are not frequented by merit source makes it difficult for you to earn more merit than expected. You're active on the local board and you got it recently, so don't worry too much about how you can contribute to the community when you have 0 sMerit, as you can also have the merit source review the post by reporting it on the merit source in this thread. [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source

Apart from that, I also help you get some as support because you have contributed to the merit system as well to community.

I currently have 0 sMerit, it makes it hard for me to appreciate other users' quality posts.

So did some of you suffer the same fate as me?

I Think many people experience 0 Smerit much and when they come of thread to Merit they will not be merit to Merit to quality posters, i can see that some people get up to thirty to forty (30/40) Smerit weekly, and when them come across quality post they will not hesitate support by rendering merit to them, and when that doesn't have merit you make your suggestion and left without giving merit, while in your mind if you would had Smerit you could have given at least one (1) because is a quality post, one day a comprehensive list of users that doesn't render help for newbies will come out, while the result is because of lack of Smerit to support them.

So did some of you suffer the same fate as me?
Okay so i know what you are talking about exactly like you were receiving good amount of merits prior hitting the legendary rank but why the pace has been slow down now.Like you have received only 44 merits till now after hitting legendary rank but before this you were getting more.

There is simple explanation for the same which is the newbies and other low ranked members are more encouraged by merit sources in giving them merits like @Pharmacist have already told you and you could check there are many others like you including me whom he has given ample of merits to reach new rank if he found any good posts in while reviewing it.Then he simply gives out 25-30 as usual to that memeber but now as you have gone to highest rank of legendary you can't promote any further so he has stopped his speed to some extent.

The same happened with me like i gained quite a lot of merits first to reach hero and then legendary by @Pharamcist,@fillippone,@JJG,@LoyceV,@Pooya87 and others but then speed was little slow but that doesn't matter to me and i worked the same way I was doing and slowly the merits were incoming. It is not like that you will get less or post are ignored but merit sources will also help others members. You can expand your posts to different boards and try to indulge in more discussion and create some useful threads and you will see merits coming to your way.The main aim of legendary has achieved rest keep the good way and everything is fine.

So did some of you suffer the same fate as me?

In my case, I seem to get merits in waves: I can get like 30 in a couple of days and then be 4-5 without earning any or earning very few, but I wouldn't call it fate. In your case, it is something that has a rational explanation as we have already seen: the boards you post on and The Pharmacist factor. If you care so much about it, apart from the option of applying for a merit source, as you have been recommended, you can also try posting on other boards.

I think it is quite normal that there are certain periods when you will not get merits.
It has happened to me often on this forum and I don’t worry too much about it.
Many members of this forum have a very limited number of available merits and therefore must carefully choose and consider to whom they will give that small number of available merits.
One of the criteria for this decision can be the forum rank, of course.
If you want to have more merits available, I suggest you to apply for merit source.

How did I skip hugeblack...

People applied for merit source, some were taken based on their activeness and quality posts, but some members were taken from Chipmixer which did not apply for merit source at all (correct me if I am wrong)
You're not wrong, theymos indeed chose many ChipMixer participants for the merit source position even if most of them didn't apply.

About merit source, even if it will take 5 years from now before theymos will select new merit source, is there anything bad to apply?
Of course it's fine, I just stated my perception of things in this sector.

I wonder why I didn't get the chance, my actions don't speak louder than words Roll Eyes
Judging by the admin, they may not speak loud enough, but definitely louder than words. That's my life motto.

From my experience, you just need to do the above. Don't create another merit source application; show to the admins you know what's a high quality post. Actions speak louder than words.

If he wants to be a merit source, then it makes sense to ask for it publicly, because otherwise, he can wait years for the admin to notice it - and without sMerits to show that he knows what quality post is, he may stay under the radar forever. I know that admin has granted merit source status to some members who did not ask for it, I wonder why I didn't get the chance, my actions don't speak louder than words Roll Eyes

So did some of you suffer the same fate as me?

I had periods of about ten days in a row that I didn’t get a single merit, and I was active on the forum every day. But such things happen, few can expect a constant influx of merits for their good posts - I'll just tell you it's not just about the quality of the posts, there are members who see a much broader picture when they give merits - your name, nationality, avatar, signature campaign, political views and the like can sometimes be crucial.

maybe probably more merit source are needed compared to good and active posters that applied
Theymos recently (half year ago?) increased it to 111 merit sources. I don't think we'll have new ones in the near future.
That post was not about applying for merit source.

I thought you will understand the way I constructed it before, but let me make it more direct this time. People applied for merit source, some were taken based on their activeness and quality posts, but some members were taken from Chipmixer which did not apply for merit source at all (correct me if I am wrong), I noticed. Although, it is worth it if true.

Chipmixer is full of high quality posters of the top rank if ranking should be considered, this was theymos favourite while choosing merit source the last time (I guess), maybe probably more merit source are needed compared to good and active posters that applied.
So I am directing this not for people to apply for merit source, but those that did not apply but were taken. About merit source, even if it will take 5 years from now before theymos will select new merit source, is there anything bad to apply? Even if the person is not taken, nothing to lose.

As I know COOLCRYPTOVATOR,hugeblack Smiley
CryptopreneurBrainboss was among before he left the campaign and still he is a merit source.

@ShowOff, the best answer, from suchmoon. You can report unmerited posts be it yours or others to merit source.

Most of the participants in Chipmixer and bestchange are merit sources
Nah, from a quick glimpse, they're around 16 from ChipMixer. Is there one from BestChange that I don't see?

I think merit source do post on gambling threads, but are most posts on gambling threads merit worthy if compared to posts on boards that users highly receive merits.
I don't think they're many, just like they aren't in the Altcoin discussion. Yes, they may be 3-4, but compared with Bitcoin Discussion, Development & Technical Discussion, Bitcoin Technical Support etc., they're few.

Has ShowOff created merit source application before? I did not know if he had.
No, I meant to not create one. Not that he has already applied.

The least rank on either of these campaigns is hero member.
The required rank to enter in either of those is Sr. Member. But, what does it have to do with the topic of this thread?

Chipmixer and bestchange signature have a reputation for having only the best participants wearing their signature. The least rank on either of these campaigns is hero member. Most of the participants in Chipmixer and bestchange are merit sources. Which brings me to another observation: The signature campaign “syndrome”
I'll speak out my personal view about this, it may not be true for everyone. Once I read the replies of a thread, I'll ignore most of the users that participate on a low-paying signature campaign, by the thought that they are shit posters. But, that may not be true. I observe a form of prejudice. I'll actually take a closer look to a post made by a high-quality signature campaign participant rather than a newbie.

What worries you the most? Are your posts underestimated? Or that you can't help others rate their posts? Suchmoon gave you good advice, if you can't earn someone else's posts, just show them to the sources of merit.
As for your posts, it's more of a problem with you than with others. Correspond to your rank, no need to blame someone, start with yourself.

after Legendary was achieved, the amount of merit earned from November to now seems to have been greatly reduced.
I checked your Full Merit history, and it looks like you received Merit in bulk a few times:
Quote
Merit received by ShowOff (Trust list) from January 24, 2018 until January 14, 2022 (source)

Image loading from loyce.club...
This was mostly from The Pharmacist, who no doubt did his "Merit source post review thing" where he searches your posts for good ones and sent you 38% of your total earned Merit. Let's call it vendor lock-in Tongue
I also noticed I've never Merited you, although I've seen your username around the forum. But you mainly post in Gambling, Speculation and Indonesian, and those aren't boards I often visit.
I don't have time to go over your full post history, so I have a request: Can you post links to some of your best posts in [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source (quote this post in that topic if you want)? If I agree (and can read them), I'll Merit them.

ShowOff, if you're wondering why the number of merits you've received since you hit Legendary rank has fallen off a cliff, just take a look at how many I gave you prior to you hitting Legendary.  It was 199 merits out of the 524 it took to rank up, which I was trying to help you do.  Now that you can't rank up any further, I'm not reviewing your post history anymore and, as usual, am saving my sMerits for lower-ranked members who need them.

That's my theory as to why that happened to you; it's not because you don't make good posts, because you do.

What I have noticed is that if some quality members are close to reaching a higher rank, the community sort of rallies together to help them get there quicker.
That's precisely it, and I don't think there's any other reason for ShowOff's merit-earning drop.

What I have noticed is that if some quality members are close to reaching a higher rank, the community sort of rallies together to help them get there quicker. There is no malicious coordination between members. It's just people recognizing that a quality poster deserves something extra to reach that new rank. When that happens, and it might have happened to you, people might start giving more attention to other members who are in a similar situation. That's why you might feel like you are getting neglected recently. But don't think too much about it. It's just a dry spell. Quality gets rewarded sooner or later.

You have threads like the one Ratimov created, for example. The one where he takes a look at members who are close to new ranks and those guys often receive some extra attention from the community.
