I got my LA6M today but only one of the controllers is functional  Angry. The other controller isn't recognized by my router. This means I can only run 10 units right now (only half of my order). I tried all 20 on one controller but it wont use all the miners and only gets 3mh total. Not happy with this situation. Is the lightningAsic brand the only controller that disables sha-256? I need a controller (that disables sha-256 and only mines scrypt) fast.

This is the original gridseed controller - it is supposed to also be able to disable the SHA-256 cores

So does it mine stable with auto reboot off? Dual mode? Single?

The constant reboots are there deliberately. Without hard resets the devices will stop hashing. Getting rid of needing them is not trivial.

Edit: Posts below suggest they're not needed? Turning the hard resets off seems like a big step forward if they've fixed the original stability issues that meant they were required in the first place.

Jack reported that another 20 boxes were shipped a couple hours ago and low and behold after calling DHL I now have a tracking #!!!

For those of you anxiously waiting, its time for the daily 1800 CALL DHL, tracking check.  I wish you the best of luck and i'll post my mining rig setup once I fabricate everything over the weekend.

-Eric

P.S. on a side note, if your order was shipped today, according to DHL it was picked up late so they can't guarantee Friday delivery to the US and it might not arrive until Monday Sad

I wish I could say the same.  I called DHL and no tracking info for me.  Jack said all orders paid with btc should be shipped.... Cry

Finally got to the dashboard and put in all the required info, but none of the miners start up they all say offline.     Undecided

I also see that when I add the workernames that I made (seperated with commas) and I hit the submit and restart button, I don't see the workers names show up next to the LTC Miner names  for example LTC Miner 1:24 (workername not listed here)  only says LTC Miner 1:24

I tried different mining pools to, with no luck and seen some people talking about turning something off and on, but they don't describe what exactly to turn off and on.    Is there anything else I need to unplug and plug back in as well?    any help is greatly appreciated! Smiley

Have you put a pool in the SHA-256 pool? Even if you're not going to dual mine and have it disabled you need to have a pool entered. Just enter anything.

Yes I just copied the scrypt pool into into the sha-256 pool fields and have enabled for sha-256 unchecked.    it just says offline for the miner :/

PLEASE HELP!

after 2 days of troubleshooting this I'm finally at the dashboard and see all my 10 miners but they are all OFFLINE and I can't get them to hash at all.  Huh  I have setup the scrypt pool and filled in stuff on the SHA-256 as well and left the enabled button unchecked (I just want to mine scrypt anyway)

I tried doing the steps from worldlybedouin listed below with no luck as well...

1. Unplug power cable from TP-Link controller
2. Turn off the USB hub switch (or unplug the hub from the controller)
3. Remove all the USB cables from the hub except 1 of them
4. Plug in the TP-Links power cable
5. Allow the controller to start up and "settle" a bit (~2mins or so)
6. Make sure the controller dashboard shows no devices connected and says something about connecting a USB hub
7. Flip the power switch on the USB hub so now the 1 miner is connected to the controller
8. REfresh the Dashboard to see the 1 miner show up
9. Wait to let that 1 miner start hashing away
10. Next, plug in the remaining miners 1 by 1...about 1 min apart from each other

I would stop following that guide at step 4 and just plug in all of the miners at once. Also, turn everything off when you want to reset your miners. You can wait about ten seconds for the blue light to stop blinking and then turn on the USB hub. Now see what you have. What pool are you using? I know wafflepool will work with these miners, so use that one for testing purposes. Make sure to put a real BTC mining pool info into the BTC field (do not enable). It may take 1-2 minutes for the miners to turn from offline to online (close the browser window and open a new one with your TPlink ip address). Try switching the frequency to 750 if they do not change to online in 5 minutes.

Next you can try turning the frequency down to 600 and turning the usb hub off and on. If this does not work, double check that the connections are tight and try to identify which miner is not running (does not flash like the others). Then switch it to a different power cable and USB cable to see if the problems moves with it.

So if we run in only LTC mode, we should be fine with running all 20 miners from just one of the 360w PSU's then no?

Anyone know anything about the efficiency of those PSU's?

in scrypt mode u can attach 6-7 safely

I have not tried adding more than 5 because I do not think it can handle it. It seems like the setup is pushing the limits already, particularly if you are overclocking. I tried adding two extra miners (with separate power supplies and an additional powered hub) to a LA3M and it is unstable when overclcoked to 850. It will run for a few hours and go dead. I have to do a manual power rest on everything for it start working again. These seem really power hungry. A 4amp usb hub can only handle 2 or 3 before shutting off and that is with the external power supply turned on.

I dont know much about the server PSU's AT ALL, can someone more knowledgeable tell me a bit more about them? Whats the efficiency on these? Can I just get a 1500w or 2000w and run all 20 miners from it instead of splitting in from 4 PSUs??

See at first post: 20pcs /set.one set power is : combo 1200W, ltc only 160w, btc only 1040W.

Add 25% more for calculating (Hint: overloading power-supply)

1500W should be enough. Be sure to take all 12V-Rails and any yellow-cable (plus) and any black-cable (Ground) from your PSU!

I'd be interested in seeing how much power the fans consume. In LTC-only mode we're talking about 7-8W/device. In practice, the fans likely consume 2-3W, which is a relatively large amount of power. If you look at GridSeed's own published datasheet, each GC3355 uses on the order of 0.5W, or 2.5W per device. Add another 1-2W for the microcontroller and other things on the PCB, and you're looking at around the same wattage as a Raspberry Pi. Those things don't even have heatsinks, so you can almost certainly run the devices without fans in LTC mode.
