Is there a reason why this can not be done without Ras.pi - compile cgminer-gc3355 directly on Linux or Win box?

Well, it's a beautiful picture Gig... Would you please enlighten us how in God's name have you hooked it all up working with cgminer 3.7.x?
I'm assuming all your units hooked up via USB hub (no controller or Ras.pi)? What am i missing here?
ADDED: Oh wait... They are doing SHA, right?

my setup is as follows:
10 miners plugged in a 13 port hub which is plugged (and powers) in my raspberry which run this https://github.com/dtbartle/cgminer-gc3355
I see... Ras.pi is the key here I guess. Is there a reason why this can not be done without Ras.pi - compile cgminer-gc3355 directly on Linux or Win box?

For the past 2 weeks, I have been averaging 340 @900.
why so low... i`m getting 360Kh @ 850 and around 380Kh @ 900

What khash rate do you get at 900mhz? I had read that 850 was best because of more errors above 850.
For the past 2 weeks, I have been averaging 340 @900. However, last night a new problem cropped up. The controller finds the miners, but can't start them mining. Power cycling did not help. Attaching one miner directly did not help (eliminate usb hub as a problem). Dropping rate to 600 mhz did not help. I have been waiting on my Rasp Pi to arrive. Maybe I will have to setup a linux box tonight to get them running again.
5 miners on one psu, 5 on another, and mining ltc only. So, psu likely not likely to be the problem. Overloading them not likely to be the problem either, since they all dropped out at the same time.

Come to think of it, the fan speed drop was only with the PSU that died, so that explains that. With my new working PSU there doesn't seem to be any change in fan speed when mining begins.

The Gridseed is rated at 7 watts, or about .6 amps. Allow some headroom for 24/7 operation, so 1 amp. That is why your .5 amp supply died.

Yes. I have been running them at 900 mhz for a few weeks now. Only the typical problems with their controller. Raspberry pi should be arriving any day now.

12v X 1.5a = 18W so as long as you are running your miner in scrypt only mode it should hold since miner should be probably consuming around 10w overclocked if I'm not mistaken. However your miner will jump to 60 or 70w if your SHA portion kicks in so do not click that checkbox... lol. Miners should be designed to work 24/7 so unless there is a problem with miner or firmware not sure what's the point of turning it off if it's virtually obsolete as is.

Its been working all day, still going strong and not even hot (the one that blew up got hot quickly).
I am mining in low power scrypt-only mode (@ 850mhz), and I don't imagine I will ever want to use bitcoin mode.

Ok so I found a link to a youtube video and followed the video's instructions and I got my single red finned gridseed to dual mine. So if you are like me and had the STM32 Virtual driver instead of the other one finish reading this and watch the video. Now the key is you have to remember the com assigned to the miner before you apply the usb driver with zadig as this is still secretly the com port to use in cpu miner

I have my red gridseed now dual mining in windows gets 330kh/s scrypt and 6GH/s sha256. I also posted a picture of it dual mining alongside a couple of antminer U1's. To do this you have to have the antminers unplugged, and when you run cgminer for the gridseed have hotplug set to 0 so it does not try to detect the antminers and crash. then after you gridseed is all running launch bfgminer for the antminers.

Tried but I cant get Bfgminer to work, its not seeing gridseed's but cgminer 3.7.2 for RPI works flawlessly for me.

No. Do you know what ASIC stands for? Or what words like 'scrypt' and 'scrypt-n' mean?
With a question like that, it doesn't surprise me that you're unable to Google, but in future you will find it much faster to Google questions like this rather than write posts in forums. Adaptive n-factor means that the A in ASIC changes over time. That means that the S in ASIC causes a problem when the A changes. So ASIC's are more-tricky to make for these types of coin, but anyway, these gridseed units won't work.
