More parts would be sourced fairly quickly as compared to the time frame in which chip batches 4+ and up come in weeks from now, I would think. Probably even earlier than batch4, more parts will be sourced. Steamboat is kicking ass in every corner around the street to keep everyone satisfied.   Smiley

We have ordered enough parts for 3,000 units. Once these are gone, there will likely be considerable delays for the next batch to arrive. We are receiving orders from chip purchasers other than our own 6 batches, and will not be holding any components in reserve for those that have purchased chips from us. [/b][/size]

Seems like those who ordered chips from you and have already paid for your services should get priority to those who didn't.  Don't your customers get any loyalty bonus?  Your chips had a 10% markup on them, so people in your group buys made you extra money.  It seems there is some concern regarding this announcement.  Can you please elaborate on your decision to let other chip owners preempt those who put their trust in you?

Please address this SB -- up 'til now I've felt awesome about your process, and with 32 chips from B3 and 18 from B4, I'm now worried I'm going to get snyped by people from other group buys, especially after I scrambled to pay for all of my assembly costs on time, before your original deadline?

There are 625 complete K16 to a batch of 10k chips...so we are good up through batch four correct? This assumes no one wants their chips only or are sending them elsewhere of course.

That would be the case if we were not accepting orders from other sources. We are not reserving any parts for those that have purchased chips from us.

This doesn't seem right... I assume you are willing to offer refunds on assembly for later batches?... considering you haven't even gotten the supplies... I assume you are fine offering an assembly refund?   I have 2 orders, but given this recent comment, I am not at all confident with the 2nd order - the batch 5 assembly order... when you 'linked' the chips purchases to the assembly purchases, I assumed the same FIFO queue was in effect.

This, to me, reads that everyone that just received their chips from Zefir could turn around, order on the website, and send the chips to steamboat and would get their units assembled well before anyone else here... because we haven't gotten the chips yet for our units.

Is this accurate?

At least tell us people that have paid for assembly already have had their parts locked in...

Thx I tried to PM to, but SB seems busy.
I chosed "none" on the assemble option. I'm on batch 5 and already ordered and paid by burnin.

Hope I can change the assembly option.
Plz PM me, when u know more, I will do the same for you...

hey, ive got 140 in batch 5, to be sent to burnin aswell.. if we tell steamboat, we share the shipping..
i do think burnin will tell steamboat aswell, as he sees all orders and our batches.
lets see what happends.

Just curious. What are the significant differences between Steamboat's and Burnin's assemblies?

Steamboat is using Klondike (16 chips) opensource just very recently finalised its design (By bkkcoins) and yes, its hosted in USA or delivered from usa should you order your boards for hosting yourself.
Burnin is using his own design (bitburner x 10 chips, xx 20 chips) and was finalized quite a while back. It will not be hosted by him, but sent to yourself for your own delivery.
If you are within EU, Burning will already have added the VAT on the boards, should you buy from Steamboat, it will be added by customs, whatever value is declared on them.
Its down to personal preference which one you prefer i would say.

Its as easy as 0, 1, 1, 2, 3
I cant find a note on it, anyone know the height of the chip? All I am finding is 7mmx7mm but no height dimension.

...I'm slightly confused and worried...

Ditto.  I've already paid for 6 boards and have chips coming from you and another source.  Does this mean someone who paid for their boards after me could use up supplies because they got their chips first and thereby cause me significant delays?

Steamboat, since you now have board orders in hand, could you give us a clue as to which order numbers are going to be affected by the parts delay? Or are you saying that somebody with chips from eg. Zefir's group, which have started arriving, could order NOW and get their cards done before any of your own group buy chips arrive thus depleting your parts supply? I'm slightly confused and worried...

Is that those who only ordered chips? What about those who ordered full assembly and testing?

Steamboat-

Thanks for all the updates... the hardware looks awesome!

I'm contemplating an upgrade from DIY kit form to fully-assembled and tested boards.  What sort of difference in shipping time do you expect between these options? i.e., how many days to assemble/test each batch of boards, and will you ship out the DIY kit form ones first?

The only difference in shipping time comes from the testing phase, which requires roughly a day to test. Each order will be processed in the order it was purchased, and the entire batch should be out the door in 3 days, minus any testing stragglers.

Hi Steamboat, could you tell us how BkkCoins will be compensated? If that's under NDA, then I'd like to hear from both you and steamboat that you are happy with the deal.

I can't find the post right now, but I believe it was stated that Steamboat will be paying a license fee to BKKCoins for each board sold (actually I think it's a firmware license). Sorry, I don't recall if it was posted in this thread, or the Klondike 16 thread.

With that said, I personally plan to mine to BkkCoin's address for some period after getting my units. Just as a thank you. I know others have said they will do the same.

That is correct. We have been working closely with Bkk and funding development of the Klondike from the beginning, both monetarily and with samples. We will be paying a license fee to Bkk for each unit produced, including our own.

Yes. The chips belong to you, and you may do as you please with them. Do not expect a significant price break on shipping as there are very few who have chosen this option.

Update:

Component sourcing:
The majority of the parts have arrived, we're waiting on a few stragglers that should be here by the end of the week.

Final assembly sourcing:
All parts have been delivered and are being processed to facilitate assembly once the units arrive.

Logistics:
The Fusion16 rack is now completely full, and overflowing into other sections of the warehouse. The shipping, assembly, and testing stations are complete and currently undergoing dry run testing to ensure there are no bottlenecks.

A couple photos:

The Cardboard Klondike in all it's glory.

We are pleased to present the finalized Kit:

The savings from shipping fees alone make this an incredible deal.

As most of you probably know, Zefir's European group buy received the first batch of chips yesterday. The order was placed on April 16th. So, if Avalon are shipping at the same rate that orders came in, Steamboat's first batch of chips should arrive in a little less than two weeks! :-)

Here's Zefir's post with a picture of the first chip batch received:

I've gone trawling through this thread to find out, but are there any batch 6 chips left to purchase?

Sorry, Batched 6 was closed out weeks ago.
