Though the only thing is that there are major companies that has refused to accept cryptocurrency as mode of payment, just like Amazon and eBay. But it seems like eBay would be accepting the new Fb Libra coin that is coming out in 2020. This Apmex you have mentioned, how does it work, is it the same thing as that BitGold/GoldMoney? Is it a platform where you can buy and store gold and silver/platinum for free. I once made use of BitGold (I think they now go by the name GoldMoney after merging the two companies) when I was using the company, it wasn’t really popular but they allowed people to buy and store gold on their platform for free, no charges. in what country you are currently living ? if your from asia there are so called " coins.ph " wallet where you can use to buy mobile credits ( ex. data and load ) idk if coins.ph wallet is also available or workable on other countries but if not then you can try other online service , im pretty sure that there are now lots of simmilar service that you can find on the web because bitcoin and cryptocurrency are now already a trend .

However, I don’t think so that using your bitcoins at this point is a very good idea and that you must wait for little longer so that bitcoin can have some good market value and then the usability of the bitcoin will also be increase.
I understand the point you have made , meaning that it should be kept for when it value increase but I tell you the value keep increasing and decreasing depending on the value you bought. And you can't have something to sell and shelter yourself and family, feed and clothes while you neglect to sell.
Except you have money to help your living, then you can hold very longer even when you have made additional profit.
