You guys have had months of warnings to exit the alt/scam coin markets. It's now 5 minutes to midnight, it's too late to complain once it strikes 12.

Got a point there, there was plenty of signals to exit, for those paying attention anyway. Fortunately I got out in time, though admittedly it was more luck than skill.

I quite agree, already dumped my holding. In exchange for Bitcoins obviously.

Don't think litecoin is dead, more like a backup or alternativ to bitcoin.
nah i don't think it was ever this. why would anyone use it as an alternative? yea, that's why no one does.

YES, Litecoin is officially dead.

Coblee will be eulogizing it an upcoming post.

To dispose of your coins properly, send them to me and I will make sure they are destroyed!

I am wondering how many cyber coins we need. Maybe one is enough, there's not much point to have diversity since anyone can create his own cyber-currency. The 1st one always gets respects. Other copycats (even with new algorithms - there can be thousands new algorithms) will mostly like some sort of transitions. But the transitions can be played, just not held.

Litecoin took some hits lately like the shutdown of the only LTC stock exchange Litecoinglobal and Atlantis.

There is innovation and development going on. For eg just yesterday a new LTC stock exchange launched and another interesting one is to be launched in the near future. https://www.litecoininvest.com & https://forum.litecoin.net/index.php/topic,4582.msg50201.html#msg50201 CipherTrade.com

MtGox will list LTC eventually. Some say will happen this November according to answers received from Gox.

by the time gox lists LTC, i fear that so much time will have passed that gox will not even matter that much to the btc economy.

It's still a top exchange on par with Bitstamp. What I don't get is why doesn't Bitstamp list LTC and went for that ripple centralized crap.

Rpple bribes exchanges with free currency so maybe that's why.
i imagine it takes time to build the infrastructure / trade engine to be able to trade against other currencies. i'm sure it can't be done overnight. it looked like Gox was going to support LTC and others....Bitstamp went with Ripple. i'm sure Bitstamp has made a killing of Ripple, permanently ripping off newbs who buy XRP through the Bitstamp client.

Mtgox isn't as infuencial as it was. If he'll add litecoin, it won't be boom everyone is expected before.

Unfortunately I'm one of them. Anyway, still holding, it's too late. Cheesy

There's no real innovation on that side, sadly.
But I don't think it will die.

IMO the long term trend has been more a reflection of the FUD about crypto currency in general. (US legislative issues etc) That has nailed the lid on the steady rise of BTC for the last few months until now, but has depressed LTC which would have muddled along in BTCs wake.

However, as the BTC situation becomes more understood, it makes back the ground it should have been gaining, and hits MSM again, then there will be a lot more spinoff interest in LTC again, and a flood of "missed the BTC boat" driven interest in LTC.

Short term yes, it looks like people dump BTC into LTC to try and even out the potholes, but longer term trends are different, as BTC warms up again, LTC is gonna benefit....

doubt it. bitcoin hype will result in bitcoin hype. there will be a little runoff for things like ripple and even less for things like litecoin. and we all saw how much the hype did for ripple -- no one even cares about it now and xrp continues to dive.
