Litecoin isnt dead yet as of now and infact it moves its price almost 25% which means for those who holds ltc upto now making sure profits on that movement and i really believe that this coin would last even more in the long run and coins under top spots on coinmarketcap wont easily die.It may stagnant its price but it won die easily IMHO.

Litecoin can never die once there is still demand for Bitcoin, for me it is serving its role as Silver to Gold (Bitcoin).

Its not dead yet because there are still supporters of litecoin. I saw on a thread here that the litecoin community are planning to attack bitcoin network. I dont what it means but if they succeed from it, maybe it will be a game changer for them. Altcoins now are struggling right now. Maybe if bitcoin fails. Its their chance to pump.

Bitcoin is the real deal, if Bitcoin fails crypto as a concept fails enterily. The good news is of course, Bitcoin will not fail, the devs are too solid, the software is just too strong, the community is dedicated even if there are paid shills on /r/btc trying to attack it... it always comes out stronger after every attrack. The idiots blocking segwit are just another test for bitcoin. Failure is not an option, bitcoin will shine.

Of course this does not mean Litecoin can't be a nice complementary coin that pumps along with BTC. They are enabling segwit soon so they should be supported because of that alone.

Maybe cuz they with viacoin are fully integrated with segwit maybe this is nothing maybe is something, i still loves litecoin no matter what that is the coin that never let me down in past very good to trust in some amount.
The real winner will be the segwit chain thats merge mining with bitcoin

Bullshit! You don't know what you're talking about!

Litecoin is not dead and will not be dead for a long time. It have problems but a lot of chinese ppl are using it. A lot of coins has surpassed it with developements but It has a big community.

It is quite difficult to say. It is not the second coin any more.

I've been impressed with the way Litecoin is always around the top few coins in volume.  But then I take a look at the strange places where that volume is coming from: #1 is Jubi? wtf is a Jubi? with over 20%?   Roll Eyes

So #1 has high chance of being bullshit exchange, but #2 is CoinsBank, which could be legit.  Anyway, interesting distribution:

Right. Litecoin will succeed with Bitcoin.  Litecoin will complement bitcoin as a faster lighter "silver" of quick transactions.

Does not mean ltc will keep price ratio thou with other alt options. Currently at 0.00455 or some
such. I currently mine ltc and convert to btc. If ltc follows in uptrend (badly) btc price why keep
ltc in mass hoping for a pump. It has been safer and more price growth to skip that step
and just keep it in btc. Assuming odds are high against ltc pumping without this continued
(imho) of ltc to btc. So why hoard ltc against this trend? Not liking it. But ltc may further
disconnect in this manner so the risk of just the convert is much less to keep your crypto value
from mining and what you hold point of view

Catch is if everyone does this price will continue to disconnect from btc and drop. Add the
New China mnfg boards for data halls only and the A4 data hall units and consumer versions it
is looking like worst of worlds like btc in 2014.

Updated reasons I like Litecoin:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • Blocks are not full.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 2,100 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (2,100TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features and active development look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://litecoinassociation.org/data/roadmap.pdf
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community. Definitly helps when consensus is needed.
  • Unlike bitcoin, it is possible to make changes to litecoin.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing merchant payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/ as well as other processors such as coinpayments, Asmoney, Alfacoins and Coinify
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value. Look at the chart here indicating volume in the last 24 hours relative to other coins http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/#markets in fact volume has remained high month after month for years.
  • The speed, liquidity and value of Litecoin is useful to traders seeking arbitrage opportunities between exchanges.
  • Now on GDAX soon to be on coinbase.
  • Upcoming release to include a on-chain adaptive block size scaling solution. This will substantially increase the transactional capacity of Litecoin.
  • Planned anonymity features for an upcoming release. https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/53c0v6/confidential_transaction_for_litecoin/
  • Fair release. In a crypto world of premined and ICO releases many appreciate this fact. The code was released well before the Genesis block was mined and everyone knew when it would be going live; therefore, individuals could anticipate and get their miners and software ready.
  • It's primary function is to be a cryptocurrency.
  • Still mineable in many western countries even after electrical costs are factored in. Here in Canada my Titans still make a profit long after shutting my Neptunes down.
  • Many low value coins can be merge mined with it increasing profits for miners
  • It will always maintain the integrity of the blockchain (no hard forks for special interests).
  • Likely the first coin to activate segwit on it's network.
  • Possible upcoming block size increase.
  • Security.

Bitcoin doesn't have full blocks and is faster and all of that because almost no one uses it, just like all those altcoins compared to bitcoin. So it's easy to say how a coin doesn't have any problems when the volume is nothing next to bitcoin.

I think Litecoin can be a good silver just in case something goes wrong with bitcoin temporarily but it will never replace bitcoin. All of the development is happening within bitcoin, all litecoin and the rest of alts (including bitcoin unlimited etc) just steal content from bitcoin core.

There are a lot of coins that trade in a LTC market only. They're not worth enough to trade at 1 sat so LTC steps in. That's a use right there Cheesy

tbh those coins do not even have a right to exist. Most of those coins fall into the "think of a word and add -coin to it" category

heh ....

Litecoin is officially dead thread......

Trump is elected president of the USA and now is commander in chief of all nuclear weapons etc ..sheesh.....

not gonna sweat if LTC is dead anymore have bigger concerns Sad

you think but i see some movement in price in last 24 hours this may not be anything but again this may be something still i sold my remaing LTC few month ago but i still follow this tread and coin

No one  could really know  and  i saw the movement  of  LTC too  which means  this coins  isnt dead at all  because there are still people  who trade with them,
Im wondering why  people  do  always  say  litecoin is dead  , as  we can see  LTC is already  5 years  old and still  kicking which means this is really a good potential coin  though.

Any reason for the big price drop of litecoin recently?
