The title says it all. Which of these assets you prefer? And why? I'm comparing both since Litecoin used to be called "Silver to Bitcoin's Gold". Knowing that LTC is scarce (only 84m coins will ever be mined), it might live true to its name someday. In case you didn't notice, Litecoin is worth 1/1000th the current price of a Bitcoin. Almost the same as Silver vs Gold (Silver is almost 1/100th the price of Gold).

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

I think,  I will prefer to invest my capital on Litecoin because there is no way you will regret for investing on the litecoin,  because it will going to dominate in the nearest future for those that invested on it to achieve massive income that will encourage others to value Litecoin than silver. Silver is also a good asset to invest but it use to take a longer years before investors can achieve a little income from the silver assets, because is a centralized currency that is be control by the government. Despite the Litecoin is almost the same with silver, I think Litecoin will be more profitable than silver which it will be a nice decision for investors to embrace Litecoin by investing huge amount of funds and hope for a brighter future tomorrow.

I'd rather choose nothing than those two .

Litecoin is a dying crypto(of course that is exaggerating but that is how I see it) while silver is a super slow moving investment so I will not choose anything .

My money will go in vain if I have one of those .

Bitcoin is still my choice lol.

What do you mean by a "dead" coin"?
at least you understand the difference between Dead and DYING?  and as what i mentioned it is exaggerating so best to not buy single word there.

also I have completely said I choose nothing from those 2 meaning my support is not for Litecoin nor Silver but in other crypto and other metals like gold and diamond .

I see Litecoin as a dead coin when I look at how slowly its price has increased. Now if we compare the increase in Litecoin with silver, we will see that Litecoin will be more profitable because it will benefit from the increase in the price of Bitcoin, while silver does not benefit from the increase in the other. If the price of Bitcoin remained stagnant for many years, we would see that the price of Litecoin would also be stagnant. This is because Litecoin has already attracted the attention of many people. Nowadays, people prefer meme coins and other altcoins to Bitcoin and no longer see Litecoin as an altcoin with a great future.
I disagree with the "dead" part, sure it's a boring one that doesn't go up and down in a volatile manner that quickly, but that doesn't mean we are going to end up with a good or bad result based on that, we just have to let the crypto market move and litecoin will move. Since we are in bitcointalk forum, we should be in favour of the cryptocurrency, I mean obviously if we were talking about a shady coin or a scammy token or something then yeah Silver would be better, but we are talking about litecoin here and we know that litecoin will do fine and not a fake thing.

So when you see a serious project like that, always side with crypto, that is what crypto people are all about. So if you asked me bitcoin or silver, eth or silver, sol or silver, bnb or silver, ada or silver, litecoin or silver ,in all of those questions I would end up answering with the crypto side and nothing more, that is why I believe that is what I care about and why I pick them.

While Silver is good, I would prefer gold. So if you said Litecoin vs Gold, then I would probably pick gold, seems like a better idea.

But, if we are considering just Litecoin vs Silver then I would say Litecoin easily.

Why have difference between Gold and Silver? While there are limited number of them in both category, silver has never been considered as high as gold in value and in reputation for assets neither, so it doesn't really appeal to me.

This isn't just based on price, or ROI, but based on the fame it has around the world. When people want to buy an asset, they would rather get a gram of gold over any silver equal to that, so gold has more people who love it, compared to silver.

Litecoin is right in the middle of that, and I believe litecoin is better than silver but worse than gold. This should not be a big deal though, you can buy literally all three, and if you keep saving money and keep buying all three then all three will give you a good return, so you shouldn't feel bad about this.

There is no doubt about how this could be wrong, we need to consider how this could be doing fine on the long run. Just keep saving and keep putting money in at all times.

Gold is the best choice, obviously. But it cannot be compared directly with Litecoin. Bitcoin is more akin to Gold with its store of value properties. Litecoin, while scarce, is much closer to Silver based on past market performance. Currently, LTC is 1/1000th the price of 1 BTC, while Silver is 1/100th the price of 1 oz of Gold. There are huge similarities between both Litecoin and Silver. Thus, we should compare BTC vs Gold, LTC vs Silver, and ETH vs Oil. There's no denying Bitcoin will always be superior to Litecoin. Same way Gold will always be superior to Silver.

I see Litecoin has potential into becoming something huge in the future. It may not be as innovative as other projects, but it's a tried-and-tested Blockchain network accepted by a wide variety of merchants worldwide. It's also a coin with one of the highest number of trading pairs across multiple crypto exchanges. So you can use and trade Litecoin almost anywhere. Try and see if that's even possible with Solana or even TRON. Two overhyped chains that are often unreliable and extremely-centralized (especially Solana). I'd buy both LTC and Silver for complete peace of mind. Cheesy

To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, this is the LTC chart, each candle is from 1 month:

Litecoin's price has been stagnant for over a year, while the price of bitcoin and other altcoins that had fallen a lot a few years ago have recovered

Diversification is key to it, but I do think that LTC does hold potential for those patients enough.
It's not about hype for it, it's about the tech and the people seeing the opportunity that lies within it.
In the long run, I do think that LTC will have a chance to become the real BTC for a common man, so to speak.
Diversification helps us to get all of them because diversification is another word of dividing our capital into different items that we like to own. But what if we already have more assets before them and we only need to choose one in the choices? This is going to be hard because both has their own potential but maybe I will only based if what we are more familiar with. I mean if which of them we already had before.

Well, in my case, that would be none other than Litecoin because I'm also involved with Bitcoin and other crypto before, and that makes me easier to understand other cryptos like Litecoin. While I haven't tried owning a real Silver yet. At first, I think it was complicated to own one but I remember it can only be the same to Gold which are also available in other forms like jewelleries and watches for example and we can now easily get them at our nearest jewellery stores.

I may not have a real Silver but Litecoin is still considered as the Silver of cryptocurrency, so that makes me still have one Cheesy. Either of them, we will always need a patience if want to earn more. Both are famous but I think not as hype as the other, and yet people still invest on them because like you said they know their potential or the technology/use cases behind them.

litecoin market cap is still really big around $5 billion

i don't think it can be called dying, it's nowhere near that, this market cap alone still a lot bigger compared to any newly released coin out there, litecoin itself has strong foundation, having existed for long and going through so many bullish cycle and the value still somewhat retained (though yes it dumps from ATH by a lot).

but if we are talking about the price growth so far, yes it's kinda dying, probably because it lacks smart contract capability of the blockchain, on the other hand, all the money going to bitcoin. rarely I find financial institutions that invested to litecoin.

I’m not sure what use case Litecoin serves. It has cheaper fees than Bitcoin but so do a lot of other coins. Other blockchains have the added benefits of advanced smart contract functionality. If MWEB had more adoption, it might be useful as a privacy coin. for the time being, I would consider silver to be a much better investment and this is reflected in the price charts. Litecoin is trading at the same price as one year ago even though Bitcoin is very bullish. Silver has had a nice pump this year, following similar trends as other precious metals.

Looking at how undervalued litecoin is, it would be a shame not to pick litecoin on this versus. I am not really a silver or gold kind of guy so I can't really be fair on this comparison neither. I mean maybe silver is better, but I wouldn't really know if it's any better neither, I would just assume but I would not be really good at it and I would make a failed approach to this, which is why I feel like I would have to pick litecoin since that is the only thing I know at the moment. Obviously we could make a good return on litecoin so there is a good reason to invest into it, and I would understand everyone who would want to invest into something like this as well.

I am pretty sure that we are going to end up with a good return one way or another with litecoin so I am not really worried about it at all. I believe people should go with things they know, and if you do not know what you are doing then the result will not be good at all.

Can't we exchange it with bitcoin and gold instead of choosing silver or Litecoin?  Cheesy
I don't think silver will upset its investors either. I remember Litecoin didn't perform as well as Bitcoin in the last bull run, but that doesn't mean it won't do so in the next bull run.
If I had extra money, I think I would buy Litecoin instead of silver because I can store it more easily.

Well Litecoin is good altcoin the coin itself already proven by many years after so many bear market comes but if I had to pick between Ethereum and Litecoin Maybe I'm gonna pick ethereum since ETH has pretty much lot of use cases than litecoin itself.

But If I had money maybe I do keep some stash for the litecoin because the coin itself can still manage in the top 100 by marketcap is just crazy

If Bitcoin could be compared to Gold in the crypto world, I see nothing bad comparing Litecoin to Sliver, the similarities are there in the way they mimic them. I base my takes on what they can do for me, their market capitalization, age and apearance/value.

1. What they can do for me: Litecoin wins this. It is more accessible and I can easily make more money from its investment. As for their trading, I can trade the two and still make money.

2. Market capitalization: Silver wins this. It can buy Litecoin multiple times, which means more stability void of manipulations.

3. Age: Silver wins this. Silver had lived centuries before Litecoin.

4. Appearance and more value: Silver wins here. You can see digital and physical silver. It also adds directly to the economy, unlike the decentralised Litecoin whose activities might not be easily counted to the economy of the country of the owner or be taxed.

Each has their own advantages/disadvantages. But I have a feeling Litecoin will become more popular than Silver in the long run as we shift into the digital realm. People will value intangible items more than tangible ones (physical). Silver will change from being an investment tool, to an industrial tool solely used for jewelry, batteries, and whatnot. I think the same will happen with Gold as Bitcoin surpasses its market cap.

Litecoin is still undervalued. But that won't last for long. Once people realize its true benefits, LTC will surge all the way to the moon. It might even become the third or fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap someday. A hidden gem that can't be ignored. Just buy, and "hodl", and forget about the rest. Smiley

Well I did used to hodl LTC in my portfolio but I sold it all for Bitcoin.  It was a good for me to do it and I made more profit now with this 'bull run'.
I do not like to invest in minerals like gold, silver, and copper. I do not like to have to have a space to put it. And I will rather invest in crypto. I will choose to have the Litecoin.

Don't you think the LTC will be booming this Bull run or going forward?  Grin

Well yes that is true I do think it will. It is why I did choose to have the Litecoin and not the Silver.
