The chart is on upward movement today so it is not advisable to grab an altcoin for now. Keep an eye on the first day of market correction then observe for 3 to 5 days on what price to entry. Try to study the chart or weekly price movement what is its lowest price on coinmarketcap. It might help you decide what is your target buy price. Dont forget to se a stop loss and sell price on that altcoin.

A cryptocurrency is volatile currency. We can lose everything in just a matter of click. But being afraid is one of the best thing we had to at least prevent ridiculous things to happen, being afraid makes us as cautious as cats.

If you want to trade do your research and buy your crypto at a low price
If you are looking at the long term buy anytime because small fluctuations

It is funny to see the psychology in your statement / question. When you buy goods in a store, you prefer to buy them cheap. Should't it be the same with your investments? People tend to invest when prices have risen already, sometimes even when they are on top. Smart people invest when prices are down, seeking opportunity, cheap valuations for great projects.

Don't overthink that much. Crypto's price are varying and you should understand that's how these digital currencies are moving. If you are worried to buy today because the prices are going down, decide for yourself and don't buy at all.But if you are a risk taker and you see the going down of the price as a way to take advantage of it, then buy at low prices.
