There are many people who intend to scam others by pretending to develop a profitable project.
But there are some clues to identify their act, without legit evidence about the project, it's more likely as scam.
Even ICOs project without legal approvement from authority could be ended loss for investors due to devs team fail to achieve their goals.

There will always be scammers as long as money is involved. Others would want to earn their keep the easier way so they resort to scamming. One cannot really be scammer proof as some of these scammers talk slick and fast then run away with your money just like how you got robbed in broad daylight. The best thing to do is to do research first before investing in anything and see if their background checks out. Always keep your money close to you.

That's true. They will offer everything to entice you to join or invest on them. They are slick talker and as if know the psychology of human mind. They can really persuade you without you knowing it. Its like hypnotism kind of. I was also a victim of scam before. And I think almost all of us. It's really hard lessons for us specially in the beginning. So best weapon that we can have is to really study and learn what they are offering and check everything that they say fits. And just be careful and just invest what you can afford to lose.

well, I invested in an ICO a few months ago and created many expectations, I could guarantee that it would be a success, it was my time and money wasted Cry

investing in these ICOs has become very dangerous, as someone already said the scammers found here a "gold mine" and the scammers are exploiting 100% of that "gold mine"

few people do research before investing in these icos, and from what I see, the Russians and asians, particularly from India, are the big scammers

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Yeah, you can find a lot of people here who are intersted on taking your money, but better do not trust everyone even with a high rank, because accounts can be hacked and sometimes people trust this ranks, better to check and do it with escrow even if it's not a fundamental, amount

The thing about scamming is that it has become more of a profession for most here. A full time 9 to 5 job, 24/7/365 even for some.

It's what differentiates us humans from the rest of what's alive on this planet. A calculating, manipulative and envious species. We calculate to own what others own. Manipulate people in sophisticated ways to separate them from their rightful properties. And we have an envious and jealous predisposition. Unhappy to see the Jones's ahead of us by the most recent iPhone model, by a $10k higher bank balance, by better and faster cars, by fatter bitcoin wallets..

Actual hard work is bad news for some people. Nowadays easy money is everyone's secret mantra. Even the most humble and righteous and corrupt-proof man, if such a specimen exists, on this planet will break and cave when confronted by financial storms and desperation. Money makes this planet rotate on it's axis. It is undeniably the source of all most evil things happening to mankind but this is the reality of life. Everyone needs money.

There will be scammers here for as long as bitcoin holds value. When the price of bitcoin drops to a cent per coin, watch how deafeningly silent the scam accusations page of this forum will be.

Yes it definitely has become a full time business for some. When I read articles on various websites about the number of scam ICOs it is unbelievable. I just feel sorry for invetors that got duped.

The best advice to anyone considering investing in any ICO or project is to think carefully before parting with your money

I have enough PMs from all sorts of alleged coders who can create the best of the best but all of them have been scammers trying to take money, many asking 25% in advance without any real contract and with no recourse or protection for the investor.

One of the biggest flops was valduz10 purporting to be a coder who will make an exchange for $5000. He offered nothing in contracts and wanted the 0.25 BTC immediately to make a demo site which he would show after 3 weeks. In the final part of the "project" he wanted several thousands to go to CPC and CPM sites that he claimed to have coded which would advertise banners and had some google-dream up his sleeve too. Upon realising his scam was outed, he resorted to name calling like "boyo" and "wierdo".

Another was AikFrank, a Nigerian who wanted 5 BTC to make a Visa card associated with bitcoin wallets which he claim he coded from scratch. He insisted on chatting in a private Tawk.to box rather than leave evidence here in PMs. He claimed he was going to get free hosting but asked for money because he was working on the project full time for 4 weeks. I advised him to change the free adminLTE dashboard and show me a tangible product but then the truth unfolded. He now claims he sold the "company" to a UK company. Upon rumbling his scam he resorted to name calling such as "ghost" and "time waster" both ironically could be applied to himself  Smiley   https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/development-in-progress-instant-visa-virtual-card-creation-and-load-with-btc-1931218

There are more but the moral of the story is... Too many scammers here. Some must be making a tidy sum every month by ripping people off, like a salary without actually having a job but happy bringing pain to investors.

Whenever I heard of Nigerians making business, I'm sure that they are going to scam you in the first place.

 Shocked

Scams galore unfortunately. 19,000 ETH by CrazyBet is just unbelievable. The scammers are laughing because they successfully ripped people off but investors that are out of pocket did not deserve it.

There are a lot of scammers out there, and i think that this is nothing new at all.. and most people are here in this forum since all is paid on bitcoins or altcoins, they just take advantage of it. a lot of people are scamming through the digital goods section, and most of them get scammed when they try to buy bitcointalk accounts, this is ridiculous, maybe they diserve to be scammed, but they all fall in the same scam, buying it without escrow, or by those pages that have autobuy.

Big scammer are in the altcoin section.

Ziber was one of the biggest scammer on this forum, more than 50.000 eth
Crazybet more than 19.000 eth
many new newbie from facebook invested in these scam sites.

and there are many scammers here and people still invest in these scam site

look at this thread , with some fake profil , they raised 3.000.000$  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/yakovfabrizio-yakov-fabrizio-of-bitbase-et-al-is-a-scammer-dont-trust-him-2220700

As you can imagine, wherever there is some money to be made/had there are scammers. It is to be expected. And ever since bitcoin became interesting for trading, there have been scammers. Unfortunately there is not much that you can do about it. Just exercise healthy amount of precaution, double check before you do anything.

This is another side of anonymity. People do not feel a responsibliity to their actions. I think that scammers and crypto will always be together. We will have a new generation of people who do not trust each other.

If you do not take risks and play, you will not be able to do it
get with them, but now you must how to escape so you will not get killed when the exile will happen. Unfortunately the internet has always been a hot bed for scammers. Sucks but they go where the money is easy and they see the target here. Hopefully that does not happen, Warning is greatly appreciated. had to deal with scammers several times in my previous life. My recommendations are never rushed with any decision. Also, do not deal with people who do not have a confirmed profile in a different place.

I just wanted to share an experience here. Few days ago someone almost hacked my account. I was waiting for a message about a payment, and this person sent me a message related to it. Before i didn't have too much knowledge about it, i clicked the link and it asked me to login into my account and i did so... Because i noticed it fast, i managed to change every single detail from my account and get it back, i was very lucky. So everyone be careful and if you are not waiting for a message and you receive one, do not open any links.
Someone tried yesterday to do the same thing again...

I think alot of people are fake it until they make it kind of people. So they have good intent even if the project might fail. But, then there are no shortage of people who are just scammers here. So that definately has held crypto back

Scammers are many not only in this forum, scammers are many everywhere. The only way to be not deceived is to be careful.

Agreed but sadly investors in CBET and other scams thought they were safe too

The thing about scamming is that it has become more of a profession for most here. A full time 9 to 5 job, 24/7/365 even for some.

For us unpaid scam busters, it's the same.  We have to put in the time to catch as many as we can.

I have been logged in for 196 days, 8 hours and 59 minutes.  Sad

Hey man do something about yahoo, he is going down a dark path and making this forum an unenjoyable experience. Any company which doesn't accept him as campaign manager he tries to ruin their reputation using alt accounts and spamming and shilling until they have no trust left, and he also gives negative trust for no reason. Look into it and you will see what I am saying.
