Important question: Are those upgrade modules individually tested or there is still chance to get one with completely disabled die?

No, from what I'm aware of, they've been checked again.
thanks!

If anyone is interested I just made a good visual inspection on my miners to see how they are attached and it looks they used Arctic i30 and not A30 Wink

Remember to use Bitcoinorama's Reseller link at the bottom of his signature when you purchase those upgrade modules Tongue Not sure if it will count towards anything but I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Haha +1. I've only just added that, what a difference it could have made earlier!!

I don't think KNC will guarantee you will get a fully working one  Cheesy

Just now that time is not as pressing, it would be fairly easy to quickly check them, as there is only 200 of them. That would save them and us shipping costs due to possible RMAs.

Does anyone know if Arctic i30 can be used instead of A30?

The only difference is the mounting plate.

Do KNC use a custom mounting plate?

Regarding:
   running out of RAM
   SSH stops working
   Web interface stops working
   Miner reboots
   Miner stops hashing

The workaround I use is
DO NOT LEAVE THE MINER WEB PAGE ON STATUS
just click on another tab unless you are gonna read the info.

It is the constant status refresh on my machines that gobble up RAM.

YMMV

limit of 200 upgrade units. so is this 28TH total? is my math right if each unot is 140 Gh/s ?
28 Th/s would be a drop in a bucket...

Agreed.  The Nov preorders will be two orders of magnitude more.  It is likely the "left overs".  They ordered so many hosts, cases, etc, used their inventory of parts to build the Sept/Oct/Nov orders and they came up with 200 extra boards.  Sell off the lot.  Why not? The value of ASICs goes down over time.  Why wait for the next batch just sell them off for less?

It was always the case of what volume of RMAs would occur once shipping commenced being an unknown. Also if there was to be any yield issue beyond firmware, so there was in essence a float of modules kept.

Now that's complete, the surpless can be sold as the promised upgrades, and priced fairly.

Any idea when they start shipping batch#2??

As planned, nothing's changed in the timeline as far as I'm personally aware, around mid-Nov, which is almost here, the facility will start production again, with everything set for a Nov delivery. I'm not stupid enough to make any promises myself as I cannot be arsed with dealing with the flack again, and I never made any last time! Wink

Hehe! No Flack here. In fact i tipped you some. Wink

In contrast to end of september we have zero talk here in terms of chips, pcbs and so on. And so i am curious if the mid-november still stands, cause "November shipping" could mean 30. November as well.

I just fixed one by attaching it to my fully working Jupiter. Imagine my surprise.
KNC should hire me as an engineer, because I managed to fix it, while they are still chasing ghosts.

Now you should better understand my reluctance to send them:

Cool, don't send that one. Wink

I can't close the lid, because of the cable  Grin
It is a very unsafe environment.

My point was: it can be fixed by firmware, because it is now obvious that each board likes different firmware.
If only they could do something different than asking to RMA.

yeah thats what i figured....thanks!

I truly hope you are keeping 4 modules in stock for mine as I'm sending them some time in the near future.

And I determined with certainty that in fact the problem is in the software and not hardware, yet my only option is RMA.

Cyper there are four modules for you as I said, but you're dicking around not sending them! Wink
