On Nodecoin/NXTcoin:

1) Who will buy them? It seems to me that it will follow the mine & dump path, so:
2) It will devalue NXT

PS: Ricky do you have skype? If yes PM me your ID please...

Interesting, I didn't think of that possibility. However, BCNext has talked about coins on top of nxt right? Maybe nodecoin will be the first and most popular one?
Nxt is for store of value and nodecoins will be what we use to buy calzones and diet pepsi?

edit: and alka-seltzer
If you want to secure the network and give motivation to people to forge, then you need to reward them in NXT. Either we will change the PoS algorithm somehow or we shall should make a form of dividend or something in NXT.

If we reward securing the network in any other coin, then NXT will become even less valuable than XRP - basically it will only be important for people who want to control the network.

I am not good at economic theory though, it is difficult for me to model all parameters in my head..

All I would ask for is to fund my new Burberry Trenchcoat  Grin
Why I don't create them and sell them on BTER? Well, being a NXT holder myself I do not want prices to plunge  Grin

You first need to demonstrate its possible. If you do that part, people might reward after that. The last person who found a security bug received 10 BTC reward.

But it could be as well possible, that I spend a week of coding and get a 0.1 BTC reward  Wink There is so much other work to be done, which generates a larger income.

So, Evil-Knievel has volunteered to audit and/or review the Nxt core code. Nxt welcomes the interest Evil-Knievel has shown! So, what is your background Evil-Knievel?

What's up guys?
I am not a good java programmer at all, but after a short audit of the code I am pretty sure that it is possible to fund your account with as much NXT as you like - out of thin air! If you guys want me to write a line-up on this, I would we willing to do it for a small "contribution towards expenses".

That's funny. If you could do it, why do you need people to fund it? Do it and sell them on BTER. There is your "fund"

Okay how many nodecoins will this take to do?

THing about nodecoin, is it is a process, that just happens to be trackable, and then the proof of process, or proof of work if you like, has a value.

We already RUN nodes. But we need to impress others to do it. The coin has no value to anyone UNLESS you need nodes.
We all need nodes, and when businesses, like  Damelon's outside project comes online, they will need MORE of nodes, and they will PAY you to run them

Price will go up, and more nodes will come online.

Back to my cell tower argument. Imagine if the teclo ran fine, but when it got busy they could PAY you to help. Turn on your wifi and you help. and get paid.

Ok so i pay a Telco to provide a service. The Telco then pays me to provide a service and i pay the Telco again! Why not just have a auto convert of Node to Nxt. If a company needs to pay for nodes they can do it in NXT.

theres no paying the telco. remove your pre conceptions. and feel free to ignore nodecoin. just cause you dont understand its value doesnt mean its not there.

this is like explaining Bitcoin to your grandma right now...
Many thanks my Nan passed away on Friday. It is not a question of ignorance kind sir, Considering i have worked for W/Com, L3, MM Above Net, BT i tend to think my Nan was up to speed. You may think of yourself as an all knowing Crypto God. The sooner you pull that pizza out of your ass the better. To finish the fatal flaw is not the code it is us. GREED

You went in two days from not recognising the genesis account and thinking nxt uses 64bit encryption for every account (which you can "crack with a bunch of GPU") to being able to create Nxt from thin air? Now, thats progress.
Forgive me if I'm skeptical.

I'm thinking of making an ebay style action site that accepts NXT.  Not sure if the coming asset exchange makes this endeavor moot however.  It would be good to have another site that accepts NXT.  Opinions?  Also, since I have little more than motivation and money - any advice on how to find and what sort of programmers to get?

Thanks!

PS -
if there is a more appropriate forum for this, please let me know.

it does not make it moot. asset exchange is totally different. though an ebay like service built on the block chain would be awesome.

cfb is working on it as we speak.

that is awesome! no need to build any fancy features for this into the client though. i hope he doesn't try to do that. all we need is some clear cut syntax that service providers who build services ONTOP of the block chain (probably web based) can know how to interpret. In the client we just need to be able to issue a few specific commands like bid x amount on id number y. im sure cfb knows all this.

I have compiled and uploaded with *.exe files. hopefully it works on windows... James, maybe you can include compiled versions as well?!

1. Download  http://dropcanvas.com/vo0sr and extract archive
2. open extracted folder and hold SHIFT and right mouse -> select "Open command window here"
3. type
Code:
nodeminer.exe

NB, you should be running testnet on your system for script to work.

You compiles it under linux and you think it will run under windows?
Without the curl library that won't work anyway.

Let's call them Nxtcoins so that everybody will stop calling Nxt Nxtcoins

I actually was thinking that we should revisit our reluctance to call NXT by the name "NXTcoin".  My understanding is that BTCNext was the one who specified "NXT" without a "coin" - but he's long gone.  Rebranding to include "NXT" and "NXTcoin" as being associated / identical might be a good thing.  NXT could refer to all the financial services we provide in our clients, using NXTcoin as an internal payment token.  The main reason to do this is so new folks recognize that we ARE a coin.

Whatever we end up calling Nxt is fine as long as we all do it.

BTW. Does rickyjames' situation remind anybody of Emperor Palpatine?

"It is with great reluctance that I have agreed to this calling. I love democracy. I love the Republic. Once this crisis has abated, I will lay down the powers you have given me!"

We all know how that went.

Unfortunately as I am getting older the bags under my eyes are getting darker and darker just like his.  Hmmmmm.......

For the smart maths people out there

This chart says volumetric expansion coefficient of silver is 58.3 (10-6 m/(m K)) i can only assume they mean m^3 since that is how you would measure volume.

So if i multiply 58.3*0.000001 i get 0.0000583

So silver expands at 0.0000583 meters cubed per meter cubed per kelvin.

Room temperature is about 300 kelvin. The melting point of silver is about 1233 kelvin. So that's a difference of 933 kelvin.

So then i just multiply 0.0000583*933 and get 0.0543939 meters cubed per meter cubed of change, or delta = 0.0543939 m^3/m^3. (i think i did that right)

Ive got to be honest that seems crazy. a 5.5% change in size as it cools? there is no way that can be right.
