First time heard about bitcoin was in late 2013- start of 2014 when the price reached 1k$ and this thanks to tv channels which made many reports about it, well didn't joined the wave at that time but i started using bitcoin few months later.
I think many people followed the same path.

Nice free ads for bitcoin and another wave of users will join the party soon  Smiley
This pattern is correct. There is nothing more convincing and tempting for people than bitcoin high price. I expect that we will be a lot of new users here on bitcointalk soon.
I have no idea how many new account are being registered everyday, but during these price spikes it must be really high number.

I can see worldwide news when we hit 1K again, because these mainstream media guys just want some flashy headlines. Meanwhile they will keep ignoring the amazing technology Bitcoin is and will not properly explain it because they are scared as hell that more and more people keep using it. They want to keep Bitcoin's image as something odd. But slowly it will get better.

Probably they think we will see another 1000 sometime soon and they will have something good to cover. But the news itself will probably get a lot of people into bitcoin.

That is right. We need more media exposure, especially the good news. Too few people hear about bitcoin. The more people know about bitcoin, the better

The article was really good in my opinion and as stated there, China is not the only reason of the rise after all and they predicted over $400 but I think with the rate of the value growth BTCitcoin has recently, it could go beyond $450 if it could continue as it is for a month or two... there's also bunch of good Youtube videos lately as well that also talk about the rise of BTCitcoin

Note that Bloomberg and most other papers are experts at regular economics, Bitcoin is different. They don't know much about Bitcoin.

They are way too conservative about Bitcoin. Hell, two years ago they all said it wold crash to 0!

Absolutely no one knows for sure why Bitcoin goes up or down. Cheesy
It happens, and then we get all the hype and drive it more up or down.

well it's because of demand being stronger than sellers pressure, it's not magic or anything

last time the demand was not strong enough and we keep repeating the same cycle with the same value

now that demand has broke the supply, we are increasing nicely

Bitcoins simplicity and ease is not hidden from anybody. Bitcoins have now started gaining fame in many parts of the world, it's been in mainstream news lately because of their features and functions. Now, this may be one of the reason that many famous sites like even reddit.com are accepting bitcoins as payment method. Bitcoins are still unreachable in some parts of the world. But, it will soon reach there in coming time. And soon, bitcoins in news won't be surprising.

It's not surprising that Bitcoin is in the news. What's surprising is that there isn't more of it.
On the other hand, my thinking still is as Bitcoin is something elitist (for a lack of better term), and not enough people know what Bitcoin is at all.

Well I already doubled my investment, so from here on, it is pure profit.  Grin The media will help to hype it even more, even if they report negatively. Bad press is better than no press, just as long as we stay in the limelight for now. I am just loving this and making money as we speak.

Believe long enough and it will happen.  Roll Eyes

Yeah Patience Pays.
Same here I am also recovered my investments and now what I am earning is a pure profit and look at the prices of bitcoins in last month, it is climbing higher and higher and that is the best thing about the bitcoins I am loving it at the moment and as they say bad news travels faster then good news, so whatever it may be we are enjoying the success.

funny, you will see from now that everyone will begin to talk good about bitcoin, when the price was shit, everyone was throwing even more shit

it's all about the sentiment really
Haha, agreed, most of people just like this  Grin

Earlier in another thread (I forget where), someone pointed out that the price would really start rockin' when China starts THEIR trading day.

Ah, $440 I just saw.  ounce.me  Two huge days (something like up 35%).

This is a really interesting site: http://fiatleak.com/ shows who and where is buying btc at this exact time through exchanges.

But you have to keep in mind that it won't show sell orders.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-11-02/bitcoin-is-suddenly-surging-again

Great stuff. They can't say anything but admitting they were wrong when they said it was going directly to 0 and would never recover. All those mainstream media guys are going to go gradually more pro-Bitcoin over the next months to not look really stupid, just wait and see, we'll have soon a lot of discussion on Bitcoin even on the worst mainstream device of all times (TV).

Bloomberg do talk about bitcoin a lot though, i think we need new ATHs before all the mainstream start talking.   I shall wait for BBC & ITV in my country to mention it on the main news then i will know its media phaise.

There is nothing like a whack in the price to make them wake up
At the very least I'm glad they conceded the utility of blockchain technology albeit at first grudgingly before embracing it as if it was their own ideas once all the 2.0 cryptos started showing how it could be done in various configurations.

Wasn't the previous collapse driven a lot by the Mt. Gox troubles? I think it was. Which means that this may be a more honest progression. What we don't want  is a "too the moon" chart, that'll just generate more hype and predicate a crash. A rocky rise is perfect.

Hodl or spend...never sell!

If the previous collapse was driven by the collapse of Mt.Gox, then with many regulated bitcoin exchanges, the price should start rising as the trade in the exchanges is much safer now.

Of course the media will jump onto this like a pack of hounds. They will do that for everything lately.

Question is; will it be good or bad for bitcoin adoption? Will it cause another collapse later on if it skyrockets because of news and media bringing in new investors and said investors deciding a 2000% profit is enough on their risky investment in this technology they don't understand, and selling when others start to get an avalance going of the price.

Time will tell I guess, but I'm sure it's going to be a hell of a ride for many here.

The more it is talked about, the more it means bitcoins will be going places. So this is a really good indicator atnd I predict that media will continue covering the bitcoin world as we're watching the price.

this is especially good news. more coverage from main stream media just means more investors. more investors means higher price....great if you're speculating
