Emotion, Overconfidence, Fear and Anxiety
How do we regulate our emotions while betting and how important is it?
Emotion, Overconfidence, Fear and Anxiety are the four points I could extract from what you wrote, and the fact still remains that all of them can be encapsulated under emotions since Overconfidence, Fear and Anxiety are emotional factors and when we defeat the emotion totally, we have them all defeated as well. It is all about being disciplined and making sure that we are determined about what we want to do without any iota of deviation from it.

Now, we can get to regulate and manage ourselves entirely to avoid them by tackling them for the reasons that caused them in the first place. As we know, overconfidence is caused by the emotion of being overbearing about ourselves and what we are capable of. This actually shows that we believe too much in ourselves. Since this is the cause, we can reverse it by moderating the way we think of ourselves. It will be easy for us to change it if we believe that we are not perfect and we can make mistakes and rather be neutral instead of being overconfident.

As for fear and anxiety, fear is more the cause of the issues in gambling than anxiety, it makes us abstain from gambling when we should gamble but pushes us to gamble when we should not. It also makes us reduce the risk we take when we should increase the risk, or increase the risk when we should reduce it. But for anxiety, it is a lesser evil in gambling and I believe it often happens in line with impatience when we are expecting the outcome of our gambling.

Lastly, there is one important point that you clearly omitted, and that is greed. I fear Greed and Fear in gambling as the main factors that cause the loss of gamblers. Greed often happens when we are not contented but want more. This is especially true when we are gaining but want more until our greed puts us in trouble. Above all, we should be disciplined in gambling, we should have a good approach towards it even as we have the best budgets and plans towards gambling.

When I place a sports bet, I always watch the event that is happening. So while watching I do sometimes make decisions to either place an extra bet (when I am sure that the team is winning) or make a cashout to save a loosing bet, when I see that the result isnt going to change. I dont think that I should do any kind of emotion regulation procedures, as every decision that I take while betting isnt spontaneous.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that and I think a lot of people make decisions while betting, like you did where you increased the amount of bets as a result of the decisions you made from what you saw in the match that was running, all of that is natural to do because sometimes there are always unexpected events in the course of the match that make our initial decisions change or mean that make us change or make new decisions regarding the bets we make.

In my opinion, what is not allowed to make decisions when you are running a betting session is when you experience uncontrollable emotions due to defeat in the previous session or due to other things such as your personal problems which basically lead to emotions, because it is clear that something or decision making based on emotions usually leads to results that we cannot account for in the end because the decision-making process is not based on awareness but with emotions that usually lead to temporary satisfaction.

We can regulate our emotions by being aware or recognizing how we feel. Regulating emotions is very important because it affects or influence our decisions. It helps to prevent impulsive decisions due to our emotions, overconfidence, fear and anxiety. Always practice self control by doing deep breath techniques, visualization, or positive selk talk which can help your mind and reduce impulsive behavior.
Deep breaths. I am doing that to release my anger. Most of the time when a losing streak comes, I just don't like the way it looks in my betting graph like everything is being taken away from me just like that. I mean, gambling sites casino games are so fast at taking away the money from us, and yet before we can accumulate those it takes us hours of betting on lower-risk games.
Somehow by those breathing techniques, I find a way to avoid punching my monitor because of anger.
Positive self-talking. Hmmm, I guess that's what I am doing on my recent games. I always tell myself that whatever I lose from sports betting, I can get back into casino games and somehow it works. Right now, I am playing tag with the gambling site as my balance keeps on going back and forth only. Still, I cannot find a way to win, but I guess I am more lucky than those who are having a continuous losing streak.

You would be surprised that none of this matters and even if your in such a right state of mind it doesn't guarantee any win, although its good to have your emotions in Check it's also important to know that gambling is all about making the right and accurate predictions and at times I've open my sports bet masd quick picks and it played and I've calmed down and make good pick and I lost.

So I really do feel there is no pattern to getting it right not as tho gambling is like trading that we can rely on good analysis thsi is just like a a competition we can't always guess the winner right an that is fact.
It's always good to have your emotions in your control because you will not playing gambling rushly and will not trying to chase the win or recovers your loss. You will holds your emotions not becomes higher and always know when you must stops playing gambling. You can control your minds so you will not continue playing gambling especially when you already lose much money. When you becomes emotions, it will related to overconfidence, fear, and anxiety because you want to protect yourself from the losing but in gambling, you can lose your money more than you can imagine if you don't stop gambling.

Yes, there is no pattern that gamblers can use because gambling will always changes from time to time. You can analyze the match on betting but you can't expecting to always wins because that is not easy.

As humans, it's extremely hard to detach from your emotions when making decisions. It will always be there even if you don't want it to. In order to not get emotions in the way of your decision making, you should start ignoring it slowly. It's a slow process, but if you're doing it consistently, you'll have no problem ignoring emotions on difficult situations such as choosing a bet between your gut feeling and what the numbers and facts say.
Exactly, people that advices that we should be keeping our emotions out of the way when we're gambling doesn't know how to be a human, they really think that emotion is something that you can easily detach like a toy that you don't want to stop playing. I wouldn't recommend ignoring though, the best way is to harness it, kind of like how you redirect a flow of water to a different direction, embracing the emotions is probably the best thing that you can do and most of the time, it's not really that difficult to do if you practice it and in terms of betting, you've got enough time to do the right decisions anyway, when you feel overwhelmed, it's always an option to take a step back and relax a little.
Controlling emotions is not easy. Although in gambling we get this advice quite often. But I agree with you that it is not possible for humans to control emotions completely. Because people are driven by emotions. If the more research to be adopted in the field of gambling are observed again and again then a good decision can definitely be taken. Any decision taken quickly can have an emotional impact. A gambler will be able to make better decisions when he watches his bets over and over again. A gambler will be able to filter out decisions influenced by emotions and make better decisions.

I totally agree with you! Emotions are a fundamental component of the human experience, and attempting to entirely disconnect from them is neither realistic nor desirable. Instead, like you mentioned, strive to harness and deal with your emotions in a healthy way. That way, you may use your emotions to help you make excellent decisions rather than allowing them to control you or lead you astray. And it's true that taking a break to rest and recharge is frequently the best thing you can do when you're feeling stressed.
Sometimes a little space might provide you with the perspective you need to make better judgments.
Sometimes, we get so caught up in the moment that we can't see the big picture, so taking a few  steps back for a moment can help us get a better view of the situation

Unplanned and quick picks, it happens from time to time but that doesn't necessarily mean it can decrease your chances of winning. However, choosing a planned bet will make someone calm and a bit confident that he made the right decision. There's certainly no pattern in getting the right picks but knowing the sports well and understanding the odds offered by the bookies is close to getting a good pattern of winning, especially with parlays, but then again nothing's guaranteed in gambling though.
So, none of those might matter on the outcome, but emotions do play a huge role during frustrations. A gambler might go mad for not being able to win on what he has very high expectations to, he might bet carelessly on the next one and that will put more money at risk. Therefore, emotions doesn't really have a significant effects on the betting outcome, but it does definitely has an effect right after the result of his betting activities.

Also, this could be way more easy to do if the activity we were talking about it allowed you to do this, however people gamble precisely to add some excitement to their lives and have some fun, and if people are not going to enjoy their time gambling, then they may as well not gamble at all.

So as long as you are enjoying yourself and you are doing so without going overboard, then even if this means that you will make more mistakes than someone that approaches gambling with a cold attitude, I do not see the problem with that.

We can't control the emotions by reading and article how to do it, it just has to happen naturally to us and most of the realise it from their own mistakes and smart people realise from others mistakes but the thing is same, we need to stay under our limits and can't force the emotions to influence your decision making ability.

In casinos where we physically appear may have extra pressure to bet more while we are losing and the reason is obvious because we don't want to project ourselves as a loser but in online casino there is no such pressure we are having full freedom to quit anytime we want.

When you come to a land-based casino to have fun with a predetermined amount of money that you can afford to lose, you do not feel any pressure in the same way as with online gambling. You simply place your bets and the outcome depends only on your luck.

If you came to break the big score, then there is no difference where you play, as each lost dollar will press on your psyche, which is very likely to eventually lead to the loss of all the money and disgusting mood.

Emotions is normal, you can bet any team or player you want, you could even bet your favorite team or player even though they rarely to win. As long as you happy when you watch your favorite team or player are playing, winning is just a bonus.
I totally agree with this and any gambler who does things like this will surely sleep better at night, the problem is that a lot of gamblers want to become rich through gambling and they end up losing money and not winning anything. Gambling should be fun or something we do to make small bucks while having fun, it should not be a source of income or anything of that kind.

The thrill of betting on sports can enhance the overall watching experience that adds an extra excitement and engagement. Prioritizing the enjoyment over the potential monetary gains can avoid falling into the trap of chasing unrealistic profits and experiencing the stress and disappointment that often accompany such pursuits. Gambling should be approached with a mindset of fun and leisure rather than as a primary source of income, because those can maintain financial stability and well-being.

It's natural to aspire to win, but placing excessive emphasis on gambling as a profits gain can lead to financial hardship and emotional distress when expectations aren't met. If people view gambling as a form of entertainment and embrace the joy of participation rather than solely focusing on the outcome, it can cultivate a healthier relationship with gambling and they can enjoy its benefits without succumbing to its pitfalls. Having a balance between enjoyment and responsibility is key to maximizing the positive aspects of gambling while minimizing its potential negative impacts.

Some people find it difficult to hold themselves or make a good decision while betting because gambling has impact negatively in people's lives which makes them sense stress and happiness or enjoyment in gambling, in such case they don't stop gambling even when they know they are losing, to stop it or take a good decision on amount to spend when you gamble might be very difficult except the interval of a friend or God and another option is to join a support group, because it can provide a sense of accountability and they can help people to stay motivated and committed to recovery. So by all these someone can have a sense of humor in terms of making decisions while betting or gambling to avoid a lot of loss.
Those who find it hard to hold themselves are already addicted. When it comes to making a good decision, it is important to have a clear mind before playing so that we can also decide more confidently. The only way gambling can impact negatively in our life is when we are over doing it or doing it wrong like we play to get rich. This is why gambling gets a bad reputation which is sad.

Being alone can possibly lead us to gamble but there are also friends that can influence us to gamble. Joining a support group is a fresh and good suggestion, even though people are known to be only good giving advice to others but they can't apply it on their own. At least we might feel guilty and end up following it.

True, as you said that their main mistake in gambling activities is the goal they bring which is that they bring the goal of gambling to earn or to seek wealth in instant time, but actually that is a very wrong mindset and assumption and contrary to the actual facts about what gambling is. And we have seen a lot of evidence that when someone comes with the intention and purpose of earning then usually they will instead suffer a number of defeats, so instead of earning something they expect but the facts show that they instead suffer a number of defeats.

And also yes of course it is the behavior of gamblers like this that ultimately makes gambling have a very bad image according to most people's point of view. On the other hand of course the urge to gamble can come at any time and depending on how the situation is, such as the topic on another page that loneliness can trigger someone to eventually get involved in gambling and that is true because there is indeed the potential or possibility for someone to get involved when they see one of the promotional advertisements on some social media that indirectly moves their mind to gamble, or it could also be like you said that is because of the influence of the wrong environment, and for the problem of joining a support group I think it's good, although basically not everyone is able to do something they suggest to others but at least we will get a lot of good advice there and over time I am sure that there will be changes that lead to something better.

To avoid making irrational betting decisions, or in other words making careless betting decisions without careful analysis and consideration. Trying to stay calm is the main key, even though in reality this is quite difficult for us to do. because when we are gambling we tend to always be carried away by emotions which can make us a little out of control which ultimately leads us to impulsive behavior which can cause us to make wrong decisions. And so that we get too carried away by emotions when gambling, never expect more from the results of the gambling we do, and reinforce that the reason you gamble is just to have fun. so that we will always feel happy about every end result of the gambling we do. Because the more disappointed we are with gambling, the more emotional we become when playing gambling games.

How do we regulate our emotions while betting and how important is it?

I agree with you, emotions have a big influence in decision making in gambling. Bad moods and anger can make our decisions irrational and make bets with risks and bet sizes that are beyond our habits. In the past I often made mistakes like that, now I try to avoid them, if my emotions are not good it is better to stop gambling and divert myself to other activities.

It's difficult to control our emotions, when we win we raise our bets as if we are invincible, when we lose we also raise our bets in the hope that one win will bring everything back. Apart from being a matter of luck, gambling is also a matter of emotional control so I really agree with your post
Controlling our emotions would always be the hardest thing to do since as long as we’re alive, our emotions will also become unstoppable to control. So if you think you are having high emotions, then don’t decide to gamble. Gambling will only worsen your emotion whether you’re at loss or at win. Learn to gamble only when you’re calm and relaxed. That way, you can focused more on your bets and more likely you can create more positive decisions that will work in gambling.
I think the best way a gambler can control his emotion, is by not using the amount of money that he cannot afford to lose. That will help him lower his loss, and make him not get worried about the outcome of his game.

Any gambler that do not gamble responsible would find it very difficult to control his emotions, because he will always want to chase his losses which will lead to incurring more loss, and that can lead to addiction. Quit the game, the moment you see that you see that your emotions is taking control of you so that you don't end up with wrong decisions.

Emotions are an innate or natural attitude that everyone has without exception, but to control emotions or control emotions, there are actually still many people out there who can do it well.
But here in gambling I very sure that almost the majority of gamblers have patience in controlling emotions that are as thin as paper or could say they are very easy to experience increased emotions and it is very difficult to control them.
Moreover, when conditions are stressful, such as defeat or expectations that cannot be achieved, it can cause emotions to increase significantly which makes gamblers do bad things and make various detrimental mistakes.
As gamblers, should take care of yourself to avoid various mistakes that can cause losses and bad impacts, this is must for every gambler.

There are few tips to avoid uncontrollable emotions when gambling, namely by optimizing attitude to be able to immediately stop and leave the gambling site if feel the situation is not possible.
This is indeed difficult, but if you start trying it every time gamble, over time it can become very useful habit.
