The big difference is the exchange that the IEOs get into after initial offer. There are a lot of scam with icos and I think this is one big advantage over them. Icos have not being truthful even though IEO are just new.

Thr main difference between their marketing strategy is that project doing ico market their sales themselves through social media outlets and paid influencers but on IEO the team leverages on the popularity of the exchange where their IEO will be held to do their marketing for them
Projects are now going into IEO to avoid the cost of marketing, adverts, airdrops, various bounties and signature campaigns. I think within the few time around, ieos have proven to be more reliable for investors because coins get listed in the exchange.

In ICO, the product and marketing is the killing techniques to increase the fund raising, on the other hand, since IEO is being launched via exchange launchpad, no additional marleting is required, in case the hardcap is so high. There's no other differentiation between these two.

The main difference between an ICO and IEO in terms of marketing is that the former requires heavy marketing like roadshows, google , facebook ads etc but the later doesn't require heavy marketing to reach softcap.
