I just don't really see a need for a 24-48 hour delay all the time.

Please keep in mind that 24-48h is a "worst case scenario". This is because we are a small team and to ensure your funds protection, not to profit from you.
In most case I'm confident the withdrawals should be processed in under a few hours. That being said, we have to sleep and rest sometimes so we'd rather warn our customers beforehand so they don't feel betrayed.
You can ask anyone using btcoracle.com, we value our users's satisfaction greatly and try to always be very quick to react.

I suppose you've already done some Mastercoin transaction yourself. As it is somehow experimental right now, we do not want to rush a tool for automated transactions in mastercoins and would rather wait for an official command line tool instead.

regarding bitcoins, we will try & automate once we are 100% confident in the robustness of our product. thanks for your suggestions.

Deposit should be pretty fast however as this pose absolutly no security issue. Deposits should be registered as soon as they are confirmed in the blockchain.

I was really focused on timely Bitcoin withdrawals, can understand why Mastercoin warrants a lengthier, more cautious approach for now.

Maybe as an interim measure there could be a specified time period during which trading with immediate deposits and withdrawals is available. Also, any chance Protoshares (PTS) will be available. Posting a bond with Maxmint would help to back up the delayed withdrawals, but it does lock up the funds from being available for other trading. I just don't really see a need for a 24-48 hour delay all the time.

Well we'll evolve the website after the launch. We'll probably automate small bitcoin withdrawals at a later date.

I do not really see what we could do with the user funds, even if we wanted.
The "rehypothecation" opportunity does not seem like an opportunity to us, why would we ever want to use customers funds ? It is not ours in the first place and the fee should already provide us with an income.

But in any case, your suggestion is noted and we will try to do it once we get the chance.

We will try to do it every 24hours at least, but it could sometimes take 48h.

Keep in mind that we will actually store the coins in an offline computer, so thats why the process will be slow, but much much safer than an automated online hot wallet.

So I don't necessarly think that faster is safer. If history is a good example, most of the exchanges that have been hacked were actually using instant-withdrawals hot wallets which allowed them to be wiped very fast. I also think many hacks were probably insider theft but thats another story as well.

Also, in case your account gets hacked (which should not be the case if you use 2FA), this leave you with ample time to see that someone ordered a withdraw from your account and to contact us.

For us it seems like the safest approach and thats what is our priority.

I'd love to see an exchange but 24 to 48 hours is way too long. Too much opportunity for rehypothecation and float of customer funds. Any chance of allowing small, say 1 BTC instant withdrawals and getting larger withdrawals down to a couple of hours?

Hello Ola,

We are not really interested right now. Maybe at a later time.

Thanks for your proposition thought !

Emilien

lol.  Cracks me up how many times domain name squatters think the whole key to a business is some dumb name and a bit of SEO.  Too bad building a real business involves about 5000 other things more complex than domain name registration.  It reminds me of those people who print up fancy business cards - and then do nothing else.  lol.
