It does not return anything in win7 64bit command prompt.

Also, the daemon runs for a few seconds (grey background in shell popup) and stops working.

Wallet.dat is there. Address unknown. Very frustration.

Thanks very much for this guide, I'm up and running in the cloud. This has been a pretty cool learning experience if nothing else.

Assuming that this coin is going to be crushed by GPUs, and that I have a free trial on Azure anyway, is there somewhere better to point the CPU cycles now that I roughly know what I'm doing with a VPS?

Its command line only. Run the executable like this in run...(with your path to the file) c:\mc\maxcoind.exe --daemon

Then open a new command and type c:\mc\maxcoind getaccountaddress ""

That will be the default address for the wallet

When doing this i get the following "error: {"code":-32601,"message":"Method not found"}

You need to download a wallet app to your computer and when you open it will create an address for you:
https://github.com/Max-Coin/clients

Then you start cloud mining with this command:

./minerd -a keccak -o stratum+tcp://maxpool.1gh.com:17333 -u mHWRjhzBs2FrGomy7qVJmaRa2ZjBLv6kbA -p anything

replace the address after the -u with your address.
