20x is almost half of 40x but it doesn't mean that you can now easily fulfil it. It will still depend on our luck. I can even complete a 40x wager requirement several times when I try some new casinos and I was surprised as things went smoothly. The only sad part is that my winnings from that free spins are still cut out by a lot of times but I think that was still okay since I haven't deposited anything.

I also saw a casino which only have a 30x wagering requirement but I make sure to read the rules properly as some will lock your deposit amount and there is no way for you to cancel the bonus. This way you will force to continue and just bust your deposit completely.
