I have recently been trying to write a modern guide to using PGP since the linked guide in OP is Windows-specific, but I've been quite busy last week.

No rush, but i'd love to read it when you have it done. Thanks for updating us and for taking time to write up a guide. These are important things to learn. And in a time of easy-to-use mobile apps it's a bit of a shift to understand the code and sequence of it all. Thanks!

While this thread has your attention I would like to take the time to tell you all to encrypt PMs that have sensitive info such as shipping addresses, currency exchanges PMs that have bank account numbers in them, passwords and so on. It will protect you if the forum is hacked again and PMs are leaked, or more likely if the recipient's bitcointalk account is hacked by a malicious actor who dumps the PMs somewhere.

OpenPGP standard applications can be run through the Terminal/Command Prompt application.

No, you don't have to use Kleopatra. This is just one program as a recommendation in the tutorial above. But why wouldn't you use Kleopatra desktop application? If you are not experienced, it is easier to go through all the steps mentioned in the tutorial than to search for alternate solutions.

If you still want to encrypt a message in a different way, I'm sure you will find a bunch of similar tutorials online.

BTW, I have my PGP address linked to my "website" field in Profile's page. I think it could be useful or, at least funny, if more users did it, so we could directly send each others encrypted private messages without having to ask for the Public Key.
