i honestly think begging for merits should be also banned for life.Everybody crying about merit and requesting for almost nothing.

Shouldn't we rather accept the merit system and move on? Merit has come to stay for the best interest of this community as proposed by Admins. Thankfully, Merit is instilling sanity in the forum. But just like any other rules the full purpose of the Merit system can only be realized through effective, fair and balanced implementation. Despite the good intentions behind the Merit system it has a  major challenge which is the lack of objectivity in the award of merits. In other words whether or not a post or comment deserves a Merit point is at the discretion of the giver. OK, a really, really good post deserves some Merit points, but most times you come across some Merit winning posts and you can't help but ask: What really passes for a really, really good post? So long as the award of Merit points is subject to the personal judgement of the giver Merits can't be said to be a true measure of the responsibleness of a member or the quality of his/her posts, and is open to abuse for the same reason.

Bitcoin is a virtual currency that we all know about, Bitcoin can be produced in a lot of things, because Bitcoin is not yet valid in some countries. The countries are Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Bolivia, Iceland, Ecuador and recently ban on Bitcoin in Nepal. It has been heard that the production of Bitcoin in 2021 will be stopped, I believe that the right to use Bitcoin will result in human rights abuses all over the world.
What are u doing?
The topic is not for Bitcoin discussion, speculations, or something like that.
This one is only for discussions on merit system and new rank requirements.

This is helpful.

Thanks a lot.
Thanks for what?
You visited the topic on merit and new rank requirements, then posted such boring thread.
It is likely that you didn't really understand what are main purposes of merit system.
Please re-read the OP carefully.

Updated this graph thanks to new data from DdmrDdmr.
The legendary rank is influenced for a good 80%+ from sources for a perfect graph we need to remove sources from data.

(Also I skipped donator, vip, founder, moderator and brand new rank, because I don't think than 0.0001% of population of the forum matters on this graph on the contrary, it only makes confusion).

I'm agree on those meriting system, it is good to develop more constructive post and informative. However some of us abuse it, and it is unfair for the others.

Maybe they are VIP, I'm just wondering with those merit but I do respect with that. Everyone of us seeking for merit to runk up, it is good to have it, it makes self confidence but I don't have it. Maybe my post is not enough to earn it, but it doesn't matter. As long as I'm still her in forum it's a good opportunity do have it and to learn more about cryptocurrency.

I just want to ask a clarification regarding the mechanics above.  Do I need to make a new thread/topic quoting the ten (10) posts or there is already an existing thread to quote this ten (10) posts?
You need to open a new thread. All you have to do is look around the last couple of Meta thread pages to see applications from other members of the forum:

Application for a merit source
Merit source application for Greek local board
(!) Merit Source Apply

Mind you, being a newbie, you have 0% chance ("established member" is quite a step ahead)…

Thank you for this.  I am just inquiring for future reference, thank you for the heads up though.

Is there a specific number of activity or post which is equivalent to earn one merit ? Or is there a specific period of time where we automatically get a merit , regardless of the number of post or activity we made. Example. 1 merit every month or every two weeks ?

It allready opens in new window..

It's a Jr. Member with 154 activity and 0 Merit. They've never even seen the +Merit button and probably have no idea what Vod was talking about when they decided to quote and agree with him. Some scammy campaign still paid them to post it though.

Simply, he probably has several accounts and confused, he thought that he wrote from the account where there is Merit.  Grin

"If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections."

I just want to ask a clarification regarding the mechanics above.  Do I need to make a new thread/topic quoting the ten (10) posts or there is already an existing thread to quote this ten (10) posts?

I don't have any people who will like my post and give some merit. From which I can be ranked up.

Getting merit on this forum isn't like facebook or other social media. Just because they like you or your post it should be given a merit. I think you need to contribute some knowledge to the post or help people by replying to queries that can help other members.

Same for me,but i realized that bitcointalk is not a competition for merit.

Even without merit, Bitcointalk is still a community that helps people to learn more about cryptocurrency. Merit itself is too scarce and only a handful of these Smerit is given every month so we shouldn't stress ourselves about this matter, We should aim to be a better poster and help each other out so people can see that we're trying to help out if they are impressed maybe they give one or two merit.

I agree, the definition of a forum is a place where people meet to leave messages, discuss subjects of the same interest and help others with questions. Keep that in mind when you post in a forum, and try to ignore additional issues like merit and ranking up etc. Remember all good things come to those who make them happen.

Yes,mee agree too. Cause bitcointalk is forum which helps the people to discuss themselves about crypto-currency. But it's also a place where people can find earning method and people discuss themselves about this. And everybody knows that Bitcointalk is not a place for competition, it' forum through people can learn about crypto-world so that they can use their knowledge in their future work about crypto currency. So, the people should not make any competition, just learn from here and use them in your works. You will be able to solve any of your problems. Best of luck✌✌

There is a donation way to give anyone some merits and with this they can be ranked up...But there is not any easy way to become a merit source..And It's my bad luck... I don't have any people who will like my post and give some merit. From which I can be ranked up...It's my fortune....😒😒👌👌
Same for me,but i realized that bitcointalk is not a competition for merit, for me as long as you helped other people for their queries is good enough, but im still hoping someday and i would be greatful if someone give merit to me.please keep in mind that you're here to help and to learn, and if they give you merit it means you done something good, like this thread very helpful, thank you.

@Jet Cash

If you know so much, If you think they're right they say , if you trust yourself ;

Create a zero account and win 900+ Merits... Do this and prove to me 80 merit sources they are doing their job properly... But you can't... You already know that

I do not think to write anything more and I give thanks to friends who help and direct

Jet Cash did it and he prove it newbie can gain merit. He made an account without telling people it is him in the first place, so i guess it works. Then again, you can find a thread made by a member in meta section that listing all member who got merit points. He/she even made the categorized list like "people from 0-100 merits" and "people from 100-250 merits" and so on. I kinda forgot the name of the member, but it is a great thread made by him/her. You should find and check it @Leteravian.
