Lieve increase on sMerit from last week +8.05% after the charge for Sources

So the last three weeks are 4761, 4544, 4910. I thought it would probably flatten out when most of the distributed sMerit was used up. It is a bit too early to say for sure but that looks like a sign we may be near that.

We are close, in my opinion the average value that we will have when the airdop ends, if the number of sources remains the current one, will be around 3.5k per week.
If you look here the weekly merit report, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ep5jtNBJU-jcMM_4o3T0ZnkYSRtwQGHSfWPiuV_GYKA/edit#gid=0 the most merit rewards for this week are from abusers or red trust member tagged for abusing, so 4900 is a pumped up number.

I think that the rank should be awarded as an army rank, if it deserved - an extraordinary. And with the current rules get the next almost how to accomplish the feat.

Getting merit is not an impossible task and it is not that hard either, in my personal opinion. Although getting 500 merits will be chalenging for me, but it is manageable. By the way, how to get rank in cod? By playing by the rules of tha game right? Then you can get merit by playing the rules of this forum. Do contribution, make contributin, and wait for it to happen, if it is not enough, dont stop, just keep going.

Honestly, infographics hurt my fingers too much due to excessively scrolling my computer mouse.
Infographics are for the kindergarten. If you can't read, and need pictures, then go to YouTube. They clog up the threads, and slow down reading. I put people who use them where they belong - on ignore. I really hope they don't attract new members to the forum, what benefit will the kids from junior school be for us?

Yeah, as you said, the forum need something like a dedicated admin, mods who are readily to spend their precious time to make infogpraphics for lazy members, who can not read, can not understand meanings in topics/ threads created by admin and mods; or simply don't want to read too many words and wait for infographics.
It's not the way the forum works, at least in my opinion.
I absolutely agree, sometimes a good infographic gives you the ability to convey information without using thousands of words and multiple tables. poor infographics clog the flow.

Some people are visual learners and they are not necessarily kids Smiley. I agree that infographics could clog up the thread if there's a lot of them and if they are quoted again and again, one (or two) per page does not seem that harmful to me. If they can help some users process information quickly and easily, why discourage people from using them?

You say that a person must earn merits to rank up . That's fine , but how do i get merits ?

Rule#1: Don't quote long (full) posts in your replies.

How to earn mertis? You can read and follow this little guide

- TMAN'S guide to getting merit.
- This infographics might help too

>.<
* Improve your English language, this isnt just spelling and grammar this includes using words like Sir & Mr when I see those I imediately asume the person is a 3rd world poster
* Spend the time that you currently use posting incoherent rubbish to learn proper Written English, start with youtube there has to be over 3002 different videos about writing the English Language
* Read a few English books, you can download free Ebooks as a starter, look how sentences are structured common words etc.
* Remember a quality post isnt necessarily a long winded post, using words that make you sound like you swallowed a thesauras doesnt help your cause

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member300
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500
LegendaryRandom in the range 775-10301000

You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people.

Certain users are designated as "merit sources". They can create new merit out of nothing, up to a limited number per month (which differs per source). I will not be posting a definitive list of merit sources (so that people don't bug them too much), though you'll soon figure out who they are if you pay attention.

There is currently no such thing as a "demerit". I'm hoping that the positive merits alone will be fine. I could add demerits pretty easily later on if necessary, though.

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

Useful infographics

Forum users have helpfully created some infographics to explain the merit system:
paxmao's infographic
ibminer's infographic
8Habits's infographic
JetSet11's infographic
zentdex's infographic
alia_armelle's infographic

If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.

Trivia:

For current members, your initial merit score is equal to the minimum required to your rank. Of that, a certain amount (less than the usual half) is spendable. The spendable amount was calculated based on your current rank and the number of activity points you earned in the last year. A Legendary member who hasn't posted in the last year would still be Legendary, but would not have any spendable merit.

If someone sends you 1 merit, the 0.5 sMerit is not wasted; it is just not shown until you get another merit point.

There are stats here, and you can find someone's merit summary by clicking the "merit" link on their profile.

Your countinuity on this job is remarkable man, but i will keep telling you that there must be a comparison of post quality to know why merit given is declining.

Agree but is not possible to calculate because the quality post is a human perception and is not a statistical number, so the ratio post/quality post is undefined.

In my opinion there should be an airdrop similar to what happens with the activity, at least for a year, so that the transition to the new system is not as abrupt.

But that would beat the whole purpose of merit system...

Quote
merit def. -the quality of being particularly good or worthy, especially so as to deserve praise or reward.

It's pretty clear what merit represents here, so any kind of serial merit handout that you'd get for no particular reason would be making no sense.

I believe if everybody would have a fair chance to have their comment viewed by a source, would be already enought. There are many good comments i see going unnoticed in the local sections for example, but also in others.

The new file is up Very fast calculation for a monthy period

Over 50% reduction in 2 months!
April tolal sMerit 23395.
There are 79 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 17750 sMerit per 30 days, this mean if all sources sent 100% of merit, they have contributed for 75.8 % of total merit for April.

Your countinuity on this job is remarkable man, but i will keep telling you that there must be a comparison of post quality to know why merit given is declining.

Although i have a theory for it. Merit will declining month by month, until a very minimum or none given in the future, and that is when we see people who keep contributing and making great posts even though there are no merits given by people. I like to call this natural merit selection.

It's not a typo, it's just a way to write it so that it sounds funny when you pronounce it. The same goes for "more" => "moar".
Interesting, some thing like slang, right? I am not English native speaker, too.
Anyway, thanks for your nice point to explain a bit more about the funny words.

Can I advertise merit as reward for using my referral link? Basically it's qualify as helpful member activity.

Referral links to external sites? No, don't do that. You'll get negative trust on your account for doing so, as this would be considered gaming the merit system for personal gain. That is in no way "helpful member activity".

Okay, I understand, thanks.
