About gaining merit. I believe that the main reason for the introduction of merit is the limitation of the number of participants in the bounty companies. Users want to increase their rank just to earn more than now and it's normal. The merit that will be presented by you will still be used for earnings on bounty companies, that is, for earnings on altcoins. I understand you were one of the first members who created and supported this forum and you certainly deserve respect, but the capitalization of altcoins is growing and more and more people trust them and want somehow to capitalize on this.
I agree with you about altcoins. I’ve said before that altcoins have a place and theymos rightly gave them a section to brainstorm and foster a sense of community. You have to understand I’m not this forum, I don’t work here, I’m not a moderator or administrator. I don’t make money here and I support bitcoin. The people in this thread are asking me for merit, they are not asking the forum for merit. There are people in the altcoin section giving out merit.
You don’t understand the issues concerning bitcoin or how to correct them. PoW does not make bitcoin unprofitable. PoW is simply a method of generating new coins and securing the network. PoS, while more environmentally friendly, allows a few empowered stakeholders to lord over the masses (even with randomization). Bitcoin’s blockchain doesn’t need to be as long and unwieldy as it is. SPV clients solve that issue as will eventual pruning. Bitcoin’s temporally high transaction fees and long block times will eventually be solved by increasing the block size or with a second layer solution. I suppose I’m the kind of person that would prefer to fix what’s already working and established rather than chucking it all out and starting over.
