It depends on what are going to trade and how much you want to earn, in order to earn a lot you need to have big capital, if you are just started to trade then i suggest you to play with small amount
I started trading with only 0.02, its a good practice to start trading with small amount to learn how to read chart and understand when to buy and to sell the coin

I think there is no minimum to start trading, as soon as you have money you can start it
But if you have only low capital, you will only make small profit with that

With 0.5 btc id be tempted just to trade alts rather than bitcoin. You still have the chance to make small profits with bitcoin by just following the swings of the market but whenever i try to do it with bitcoin the price seems to go up after i sell and then stay their meaning if i want to recover the same amount of bitcoin i have to then buy at a higher price than what i sold. Bad trading i know.

It happens to most of the traders, not only you. So for that what I do is, I will keep accumulating small quantities now and then and will sell only when I make some decent profit. I will wait for prices to go up and I never buy or trade with borrowed money so I can wait until prices go up to sell. Just keep trying different strategies and you may find a better one to follow.

you can always start with little as $1 buck worth of any coin but for decent profit it really depends on vol the site and the pumping.

1 Buck is nothing since you have withdrawals fees at most exchanges even upto 0.002 BTC. @ Preev that's 1.30.
My advice would be to have a minimum of 20 dollar available when trading.

1$ is little enough to start trading you cannot feel your earnings with that if you put that kind of amount in tradings your effort and patience waiting for the pump is useless thats why its better to have big capital on tradings its because even if you do shortrades but still you can earm big profit by this thing and yoy can repeatedly do it again in again and you can also manipulate the price if you have big capital and earned by this doings.

I will be using LocalBitcoins, if I have 0.5 BTC I can sell up to 85% of that in my own advert then the rest on another person's advert. Is there a way to make a profit this way? Or is 0.5 simply not enough to start with?

0.5 BTC is enough for you to start as a novice player in this trading game.
If you are only opting for LocalBitcoin then you can go for their automatized trading system. Although it is still not available everywhere.

Better luck with your trading but be careful of certain imposters who can scam you your money since there are numerous trades happening of selling a trusted LBC account.

I think 0.5 BTC is not enough if you wanna trade on localbitcoin, because you will trade bitcoin to fiat money only, need much time until there are people trade with you and velocity of money is slow. I think if you wanna still trade on localbitcoin you need 5-10 BTC minimum.

I think 0.5 is much enough for starting trade at there, if there are problems with local bitcoins then he should have to try some other exchanges for selling and buying bitcoins with fiat and altcoins, one of my friend has started with about less than 0.10, and he is successful with that.

I need to have an amount that is at least worthy of not treating like gambling money. Enough to force me to have some discipline. Probably different for everyone. For me, 1-2 btc.

Im not familiar with localbitcoin so I don't have an idea about that own advert things.

But anyways, if we are to answer if BTC0.5 is enough to start trades, well yes and that can be considered as a huge amount as a capital. You will feel the profit even for a minimum of $30 price movement but of course much better if above on that.

Goodluck and remember to watch closely the price especially when there is a price rally.

0.5 btc can be enought for trading but u prefer some exhcange site where you can buy other cypryptocurrencies with your btc which have big potential tl grow really fast and double your money so easy.
well, 0.5 BTC was very good to play early trading, in fact it could be quite a lot for a beginner. but I guess using 0.5 BTC as the start of trading, as with 0.5 BTC you might make about 0.01 to 0.05 BTC every one trading, and if you choose the correct coins, perhaps earning can you get more, but in my opinion , for a beginner, it may be better to use 0.1 BTC for starters

There is no any minimum to start trading and you have pretty good amount of bitcoin to start. Just keep in mind that trading is same risky as gambling, so u have to be prepared that that plan can fail and you loose your money.
I wish you luck and tell us in time how it was. Best regards.

I think 0.5 is a good start and i think you can make a large profit with that amount .. local bitcoins is one of the market that you can sell your bitcoins person to person..
You can also use it for altcoin to trade. to make more profit..
This is pretty good advice, maybe it's better to focus on certain altcoins instead of starting to trade Bitcoins since you might have a bit less competition that way.
Anyway it's good to start with a low amount.

Its better to have a good amount to start trading because the bigger amount of capital is the bigger amount to get profit. But the minimum amount in trading i used is 0.05 btc then i start trading with that amount i buy coins is small price until i wait to that coin get rise but until now is dying so my capital instead of increasing they become 0.004 hahaha i lost my money in that coin.

0.50 Btc is a Good amount to start trading but be careful about trading because if you don't have complete knowledge about Trading then you can Lose your Money. So My suggestion is that Do Trading but Carefully....

One needs to develop a profitable system. Most people, I think, just dive in head first without a plan. When I first started trading, I looked at some charts and thought, "Oh, this is so easy. Buy when it starts going up and sell when it starts going down." I proceeded to lose half my bankroll in a day. (This was in the aftermath of the April 2013 cycle)

I picked up the pieces and worked hard to develop a good system. The most important thing is getting a good handle on risk/reward setups. Always have an entry, exit, and stop loss plan. The idea is to make big gains, small gains, and small losses. If you can cut out big losses, that will give you a big leg up. No one is ever right all the time, and it's important to never get married to positions. And you need to set take profits with regard to your risk. If you consistently get 2.5-5x gain for every 1x loss, you will do very well. It's more of a grind than a lot of people think.
