My performance is lower than it is on ethOS or in Windows. I have two 1070s and 4 1060 6GB. On those with no overclock I get around 120MH/s in other OSes. Here with a +300 memory OC I am only getting 105MH/s dual mining eth and sia. I lowered the dcri value to the same number. I didn't set a power limit, maybe that will do it.

If you scroll to the top of the mining process do you see OC messages for core and memory for each card?

If so:

try +200 core clock and +900 memory clock

if that hard or soft crashes, try:

try +100 core clock and +600 memory clock

also what model 1070s and 1060s?

EVGA superclocked 1070s and gigabyte gaming g1 1060s. Let me try the new settings

edit: looks like it crashed on the original settings with cannot get current temperatures

I may try individual clocks and see if one of the cards is the problem.

I need help with my 6x 1070 rig.. I keep getting the following error and then the miner crashes and restarts..
I didnt overclock it is on default settings..

NVML: cannot get current temperature, error 999 (an internal driver error occurred)
GPU 0, GpuMiner cu_k02 failed 30, unknown error
GPU 0, GpuMiner kx failed 1
GPU 3, GpuMiner kx failed 1
GPU 5, GpuMiner kx failed 1
GPU 4, GpuMiner cu_k02 failed 30, unknown error
GPU 4, GpuMiner kx failed 1
GPU 1, GpuMiner cu_k02 failed 30, unknown error
GPU 1, GpuMiner kx failed 1
NVML: cannot get current temperature, error 999 (an internal driver error occurred)

Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks

Hi,  I know this is an old post but I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and has found a solution.  I have 6 x 1080tis running at stock (msi afterburner not running) and do not get this error anymore but would love to overclock.  As soon as I turn on afterburner, even if I don't overclock,  I get the above error message.  Sometime within 10 minutes, sometimes after days of running fine.  I've also tried overclocking on NVOC and after awhile I get the same error.  Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated and will send some ether for your assistance.  Thanks!!!

Fullzero, thank you for integrating Genoil and other improvements!

One question - Does the Genoil build incorporate these optimizations?  Seems like people are getting at least 6% performance improvement on GTX 1060's

So i;m getting gpu stopped working with exiting thread errors on several rigs.

One rig is 6x 1050ti
Other rig is 3x 1060 and 3x 1050ti

Did a test with single rig (the 6x 1050ti one) connected directly to MikroTik instead of D-Link switch, it worked stable for 30 mins while it crashed after 15mins on D-Link. Is there any chance that a D-Link switch could be causing GPUs to crash (I don't see a reason how are those two things connected but still).

Tried both with default clocks and OC, still crashed. Anyone has an idea what could be an issue?

I never could get my EVGA 1070 SC to OC. Is there a trick to this? I've tried every combination of OC posted here over the past 2 weeks and the speed never changed.

First I would try reimaging the USB key.

then if it still isnt working:

press f12 and enter:

Code:
lspci | grep VGA

then

Code:
nvidia-smi
and tell me what it outputs.

Also if you are connecting a monitor directly to the motherboard (don't do this); only connect a monitor the the primary GPU (the one in the 16x slot closest to the CPU).

Thanks for your reply! It didn't work because I didn't have my monitor plugged in correctly. Is there any way to view the memory manufacturer within Linux?

These commands were ran while EWFB miner was running with default clocks.

lspci | grep VGA
Code:
m1@m1-desktop:~$ lspci | grep VGA

Hi all, new to the forum and just building out a mining rig. I'll have to have a look at nvOC, looks promising. I just thought y'all might have dealt with the problem I'm seeing already.

I though I had OC working on my custom linux rig, until I added 2 more 1070s via PCIe risers. All cards are visible, but Coolbits only seems to activate on the 2 cards that are in the 16x slots, with or without risers. The 1x slotted cards behave as if Collbits was not set, and no OC options are set-able in nvidia-settings. In windows, all cards can be overclocked via afterburner etc.. All seems well in xorg.conf

Any idea how to proceed?

Thanks

Hello everyone, just setup my rig yesterday with current version 17. Thanks by the way.. ran fine for a few hours then all a sudden, the power went from 225 down to 8 and the sols stopped. Attempted to restart the Bash file and I get error code 77. Tried to reboot sudo reboot. And same issue does not want to start up again. Any idea on what this can be? I have 2 1080ti cards and a msi z270-a pro board using adata USB 3.0. Thank you.

Hello,

I'm new on this forum and I just tried your image, looks promising.
I have some weird issues like nvidia-smi missing, I did not read every page of the thread, but the pages I've read do not mention it.

I'm (trying) building a 4x 1060 3gb + 2x 1070 8gb RIG on a MSI Z170A GAMING PRO CARBON.

Here is the std output of the script:

Can I still use custom names for my rigs? Today, I'll be setting up about 20 or so rigs, so I'm needing them to be custom named, will it still work with the paste bin implementation?

EDIT: Also is this Genoil updated with that edited miner that's supposed to have increased hashrates? Also, anyway to have it show GPU temperature?

EDIT2: What's the 1050ti switch for? I do have lots of 1050ti's which I'm planning to add 1 or 2 card along with 1070s rig to use the remaining PSU power limit.

Excellent work on this package.

Unsure what changed, but I restarted the process a few times and I'm back to 160 Mh/s. Still lower than 180, but better than 90. Still happy to hear if any one has ideas.

I'm having an odd issue and am curious if any one else has seen it.

Earlier this evening, I was getting 150-180 MH/s out of this setup, but the configuration was shutting down every 15-20 minutes. I *believe* it was either a power draw issue, or running out of memory. I've added 4GB more RAM, and I've limited the power limit to 140 watts.

Now, the system is only pushing about 100 MH/s, and the GPUs aren't at 100% utilization (see output at the bottom).

Any one have any idea?

Just set up my first mining rig and am running nvOC and love it. Thanks so much for offering something like this!

Was wondering, if I wanted to mine xvg with ccminer on groestl algorithm, would I be able to do that? If so, how would I go about adding it in?

Thanks again!

You guys running reference style 1070s and mentioning 1400-1600 mem OC is this with only Samsung memory?  I cant seem to go much beyond 1150 on 5 MSI AERO cards with Micron memory which gets me about 30.1 MH/s.  Funny thing is on my desktop with an EVEGA SC 1070 with Micron memory I was able to push it higher in Afterburner and break over 32 MH/s.  It is now being used as my primary with 3 monitors so I dialed it back to 30.3 MH/s to keep from getting memory artifact.  Right now I am running 0 / 1200 in Genoil v17.  Seems to be holding.  I also havent noticed any improvement in core oc other than some slight improvements with 1060s in Windows using Claymore.  nvOC v17 is my first experience with Genoil.  Seems to be running good and the total hashrate seems to be higher.  But I miss seeing the individual card hash rate.

Edit: I really wish I was smarter in Linux and was able to figure out how to overclock my gtx 970.  Its running in nvOC around 18.5 MH/s and I feel like I am giving up around 4 MH/s while pulling the most power of any GPU I have including the 1070s

I haven't really looked into genoil's arguments; it might be possible to get more info.

Maxwell OC support is not a priority for me; but I will add it to the list.

I understand.  There probably isnt a bunch of those cards out there anyway.  Even I only have 1 although I though about buying 2 used ones local.  Thanks for your help and the fantastic product!

I never could get my EVGA 1070 SC to OC. Is there a trick to this? I've tried every combination of OC posted here over the past 2 weeks and the speed never changed.

Same question as before but with pictures, miner is hashing away when suddenly the whole OS slows down to a snail pace where i have to wait for 20 seconds for every action to go through and the hash rate is cut by 50% with the GPUs doing this strange hashing pattern:

Please advise, this happens on any pool i try, in both dual mining and ETH only mode, across multiple overclocks..

This is a soft crash; if you have already tried lower OC; it is most likely being caused by too low of a powerlimit.

What GPUs / clocks / powerlimits are you using?

7 x gigabyte 1070 FE, each at 120 pl and clocked +200/+1600, turns out this also happens in ETH only mode, not just dual mining.

any suggestions?

If you want to keep that OC, you will need more power. 120 is not enough to maintain that OC (based on from my experience with my 1070s) I had to give them at least 135-145 to do +200/1600 solo mining ETH.

i see, i was going by UberDaemon's settings since i ended up getting the same parts as his build.

Right now it should be more profitable to use genoil (which unless I am mistaken;  can only single mine) as you should be able to net at least +5% from Claymore single mode (with outright higher hashrate and no 2% fee).

I am not sure at all what the best way to avoid soft crashes is with genoil; if anyone can find OPT settings that are stable with high memory clocks let me know.

Currently testing it, but am noticing that it does not have the nice web API to connect too like claymore lol. I will get back with you later today with my settings.

Thanks man,
I just finished testing and for some reason the same overclock (200/1600) @ 125 pl while still soft crashes with genoil, it doesnt cripple the whole system to the point where i have to restart the rig, and for the same clocks it does hash around 10Mh/s faster.

BUT, i've noticed something else, Claymore now hashes SLOWER with CUDA 8 then with the previous version (218Mh/s vs 222Mh/s), and i was planning on dual mining, and now its slower?

Nothing with CUDA for Claymore has been changed.  I have had CUDA 8.0 since v0013.  Any changes in Claymore performance are due to your pool or the Network as a whole.

When compiling genoil with the new CUDA implementation you modify 3 files (the new implementation) then compile the mining client.

I have had almost all soft crashes as well when trying to OC too much.

Hi,

Great work on the new release Smiley

Couple of things...just testing on a small 3 card EVGA SC 1070 rig with a Z270-AR, getting great results with genoil on ETH, solid 95.94 MH/s @ 102W -200 core +1400 mem, 12 hours so far see how it goes.

Had an issue where it clearly didn't like the IPName config as it wouldn't connect to stratum till I changed it to another worker name on ethermine.

Request
Would it be possible to preconfigure team viewer for LAN only unattended access? This for me at least would make deployments much easier as the configuration of teamviewer is the only step where I am required to manually attach a screen. It would brilliant if I could do all configuration before hand then go drop it on a rack and connect remotely. It could then be as simple as setting DHCP reservations and upon identifying an issue on the mining pool, punch in the worker name on teamviewer (IP address) and away you go.

Request
Any scope to add a proxy to the image with a switch in onebash? I don't have much experience on the best one to choose but to me it just makes sense to try and build networks this way.

If the release cycles continue to be short i'm not going to be able to keep up by lugging a screen to all the rigs, if you have an alternate solution you might be able to recommend instead of Request 1 that would be great too Smiley

Many thanks for the hard work as always.

I honestly have no clue how to check for samsung/micron in ubuntu..
