I'm getting the same issues as others where a few cards in each 400 series rigs have 300 clocks and don't hash.

What i have noticed is that when you updated to optiminer 1.6.0 i started to have problems with few cards 300mhz clock speed and no hashing. until then all rigs were working without issues, when i restarted my rigs they updated the miner and then i started to have problems. Any chance you can implement a version prior 1.6. so we can test it if that is really an issue? I sitll have one rig which i didnt restart and it is still working. I bet if i restart it i will have the same issue.

now its 1.6.1 still the same issue ?
Can you check bigger console and see if those gpus are even mining ?
I thing they are just hanged ?

Do you have the same issue with claymore zec miner ?
Do you also have the same with claymore eth miner ?

Waiting on Tytanik's update to allow Groupings so that we can have different rig mine on different miners.  For now a temporary way to do groupings or for testing is to create a secondary email account so we can test say Claymore Zec miner on Linux vs Optimer.  I'm going to test this later today as it's driving me absolutely nuts why these MSI cards are not playing nice with Optimer.

I will test everything when i get back home on Wednesday, i din't test it with claymore's miner since i wanted to use optiminer, anyhow i will try that as well, but i am sure it is not hardware related.

Rig is h81 pro btc, 6x xfx rx 470 4gb Black and i am using adata 3.0 32gb USB

UPDATE v1063:

- updated optiminer v1.6.1
- added separate sgminer-gm-nh (nicehash version) 5.5.5-4
Note. To use new optiminer, you need to reload/reboot your rig to start mining on newer version !

Thanks Tytanick!

However......

Gave up..... sgminer-gm v5.5.5-4 still gives me rejects mining on XMR Nicehash.

Settings: -ri 1024 -w 8 -g 1 , and also tried 512 -w 4 -g 2, both giving rejects
Tried HK and USA nodes also getting rejects

Hope you got the right Linux repo at Nicehash git  Grin

Anyone successful in mining sgminer-gm or not GM/ ie. official mining Cryptonight at NICEHASH ?

The other XMR miners WOLF and Claymore also gives the same rejects results..... wtf.

Looks like back to Windows for this client's rig... Huh

Do you use USB sticks?

After many tries I decided  to pcie images not USB sticks

The cheap USBs don't work, many errors mostly IO Linux errors.

Need USB3 type thumbdrives for best results.

6 of my newer rigs Z170s mobo, no SSDs or m2, uses USB3 thumbdrives and runs well.

The other existing 24 rigs - do have SSDs already, I just replaced the Windows with smOS image.

If you have m2 storage, I think its best to use them because cost of small and cheap m2 storage still does its job at wire speed, versus a USB which will need USB3 for speed and decent capacity 16/32GB, which probably is around the price of the m2 storage and USBs if not from reputable brands, have many horror stories usually manufactured in small dark alleys.

What type of 480 and 470 do you have? I can't seem to make simplemining os to detect all of my MSI 480 or 470 4 GB GPUs. Some rigs it will detect 4 out of 7 GPUs (3 would have 300 core or 300 memclock), another rig it will detect all. I am using 16 or 32 GB USB 3.0. Wondering if it is because of low quality MSI GPUs? It does work flawlessly with R9 Furys.

3 of them could crash from the start. Recently I bought some gear and some GPU's are crashing very fast. Almost jump out of window because I have checked everything, all hardware were exchanged, stock bioses won't help etc. I have found that exchanging power connectors (just switching places), help to extent uptime to 6-10 hours which is acceptable for me (miners just restart if it crashes). Anyway did you try to use other linux software (just to make sure it isn't software related issue?).

Guys if you have overclocking problem please tell me if applying BETA KERNEL if fixing it ?
It should Smiley

About optiminer and sgminer, yes i will implement next versions.
Give me little time Smiley

Hi Tytanick,

I know you are busy as a bee on SRR project but do you have timeline to update the miners below:

sgminer-gm v5.5.5-4
optiminer v1.6.1

I need to complete a few projects for my clients within 24 hours, and need to use sgminer-gm v 5.5.5-4 urgently.

Thanks

I will do this right now !
For sure it will be faster and more updates after i will implement one feature called "service fee" Cheesy
That way i could spend much more (even full time) on simplemining - so its a good idea to make it soon (first as preferable donation - not to force ans scare people off Tongue)

Also guys if you have issues, pleae check if you have the same problem with claymore-eth miner.
This miner is STABLE while ZEC miners (optiminer especially, uis causeing some issues)
So if on eth miner its working well then at least we know something Smiley
Also we caould try updating to even newer kernel to see if meaby it will be fixed.

VM_Context1_Protection_Fault_Addr - this happens mostly when there is too much undervolting on custom bios.
Sometimes too much gpu OC.
So for RX470/480 its best to test first on claymore ETH miner at clocks :
core: propably max but you can lower to 4-6 dpm state
memory: first is best to check if on 1800 mhz its working well.
Some of my undervolted rigs and tunned timigs have problems at >1933 MHz (my rigs below on image)
Also XEC is unprofitable right now as calculator says ?
Anywa i find ZEC mining more problematic which ETH/ETC works very nice.

I don't get IO errors.  I get VM_Context1_Protection_Fault_Addr   .  I am guessing this may be a contributing factor.  The remaining GPU would hash at very good speed.  I don't think this is an issue with USB 2.0 or 3.0 as the rigs either work or they dont abeit maybe choking at some point but they should hash.  I have a RX image rigs few that works with USB 2.0 no issues for ARmor and Red 480.  I've tested on the problematic rigs just now with USB 3.0 as well as SAN disk 120GB SSD so it's not a drive performance issue.  Even test this on Stock ROM rigs.  Seems to play best on R Image.  For RX seems to be more stable on the MSI 480 Armor.  MSI 480 Red is hit or miss.  So far every 470 MSI rigs I've tried would have all the GPU show up but at least 1 or 2 GPU showing 300 and not hashing.  So it sees them, it's just not able to do anything with them which is frustrating.  I've test this on over 20 different RX rigs now, only got 3 rigs to work perfectly but I'm a big MSI shop.

This is what we need to know.

1) What GPU have been tested to work -  Brand and model
2) What Flash Drive type and speed have been confirmed to work no issues
3) What SSD drive and brand have been confirmed to work no issues
4) Any Caveats or gotchas you've guess seen such as make sure MB PCI is set to Gen 1, Gen 2, etc

Solid Mining for over year with RX480s, R9-Nanos, MSI-390s:

1. 66 x Sapphire 480 8GB (Ref) with "480lowenergyOK.rom" from Heliox.
2. 32GB Sandisk USB3 thumbdrives for 6 newer rigs
3. Kingston 120GB/SATA-SSD (previously with Windows but now all smOS)
4. None - did not messed with defaults on ASrock H81 Pro-BTC mobo, except for auto-power-on-bootup. Also, powered molex and powered PCI-USB3 risers for ASrock H81 Pro BTC motherboards.

I got screwed on some sandisk usb 3.0 sticks they did not work well.

I saw the lot of 10 m2 pcie ssds  from kingston 48 bucks  only $4.80 a pcie  they are gold so far

http://www.ebay.com/itm/112143250197?

very good buy this Phil.

m2 storage will be really fast and Linux will love that.

USBs are designed for data/files portability -- so -- its best to go for reliable permanent storage at wire speed.

Yeah at times eBay has good deals. I am moving and shifting setup just a bit. Happy so,far with this method.
