Mistakes are inevitable, we keep making them daily, either intentionally followed by ignorant or not deliberate, we just have to be on the winning sides inother to keep accumulating profits. I've my own personal pattern which I make good use of, often times it fails but have 70% success rate. Winning and losses exists weigh before we enter the space, that's basically how the system is designated. Understanding the fundamentals principles guiding gambling is critical and deep. We have to earn before we lose, but we should try our very best to suit in good purposes for our initial capital. 

Losing and winning are commonplace in the game, because it really depends on luck, ability and many other factors that influence it, we can't blame it or discredit it.

I totally agree with what you said above that anyone chasing winnings in gambling is just nonsense, they will just waste time there with various kinds of losses, not only money lost but mentally and psychologically we will also be very disturbed with the impact of losing.

But the big problem is, 90% of gamblers never think about this at all, which means that losing will still dominate them. On the other hand, it's natural because all humans have desires and that causes them to chase victory again to restore their previous losses. I will say again that the only thing that can help us in this situation is to prepare as strict self-control as possible, agree with ourselves to do the limits when we have several defeats, such as stopping at the right time and then taking a short break to restore normal thoughts.
