I wonder how Paypal will do that after he's taken out all the money to buy more drugs.

I have no idea.  The claim was filed on his behalf via his credit card.  The email I received from PayPal stated that the transaction had already been reversed, and since I don't have proof of shipping, they automatically side with him.

Funny thing is that he didn't claim that the charge was fraudulent - he just claimed he never received the item (bitcoins) .... which at least is an admission on his part that he did in fact place the order himself.

Then maybe a call to his probation office that he's committing internet fraud would be in order.

You might want to let Mr. Corbin know that in advance.  He may agree that paying you back would be more beneficial then facing additional charges.

ALL HE HAS TO DO IS CALL PP AND TELL HIM HE RECEIVED THE MERCHANDISE AND PP WILL RELEASE THE FUNDS BACK INTO YOUR ACCOUNT.

Since he is currently on probation, I think he probably wouldn't want more trouble.

just let him know.. Give him until Monday morning to do something or call Paypal back to tell them he made a mistake in reversing the charges...

If not... Have a nice chat with the Sheriff... He probably knows the guy personally.... He's a woman beater and all..

this is a civil matter, not a criminal matter.  It's likely they won't do anything, unless Mr Corbin is already a person of interest in another matter (ie drug dealing, petouli smuggling).

I had a guy scam me out of $900 for a computer using paypal a while back.

I filed in small claims court and he never showed up.  I got a judgement against him and they arrested him and about a year later I got a check from the court for the full amount.

It was a pain in my ass but I got my money and I was happy.

that is awesome, bo2573!  but, like BCB mentioned, i don't have the same kind of recourse with btc through paypal.  all i can hope is that someone will get through to him and he will return my money.  he isn't responding to email or facebook though.

Good for you!  That's great with physical goods.  Won't work with BTC.  It is also against PP's TOS.  Any bitcoiner is assuming that risk when using it as a medium of payment.

The point it that collection does not have to end with PP.

That is what we are doing here.

regardless of the amount

Drug addicts and other scammer need to be put on notice they can some bitcoiner will not be easy marks.

(I KNOW!  It's hard to send them message when we all have the wonderfully legacy of mybitcoin.com, bitcoinica.com, BTCS&T, and GLBSE!)

but some of us have to take a stand.

All I want is my money back.  $555 might not seem like a lot to some people, but it's a lot to me, and I fucking hate scammers.

Ditto. $550 is a nice chunk of change.. I would be upset over much less.

I would send a quick email to that sheriff's office.... He might be interested to know that he's committing some sort of fraud..
