Happy 1st Birthday MOIN & community!

It's been a year to the day since I started this thread so I thought today would be as good a day as any to celebrate the birth of MOIN. So happy birthday all!

Here's where things stand.

We've built a small, dedicated community over the last twelve months and, as vella mentioned, the price has been stable for some time now. We've always tried to be honest and forthright with the community which I think has helped us attract a patient and level-headed group of investors, which is something I'm grateful for. So, in keeping with our "no bullshit" philosophy, let me tell you about a few ways in which our plans for the project have recently changed.

There's a sort of unwritten list of (uninspired) steps a crypto project can take after launching in order to try to establish its legitimacy: get on as many exchanges as possible (regardless of their quality), maybe make a basic android wallet, pay to be added to payment processors (regardless of how few people will actually use it) and so on and so forth. We sort of started down that road in the beginning, but to be honest I'm not interested in just going through the motions with MOIN. It'd be tedious for me and of little or no real benefit to the project anyway.

Over the last year I've developed a much clearer idea of what it'll take for us to achieve our goals. I think in hindsight my ambition probably outweighed my abilities when all this started, but I've been closing that gap every day and the experience I've gained over the last year has caused me to to reevaluate our priorities. As a self-funded/volunteer-based project we haven't anywhere near the manpower or resources that some of the recent crowdfunded projects have, so in order to remain competitive I've decided to postpone indefinitely all remaining items on the current roadmap. This means, for example, that I personally won't be expanding the website anytime soon. Of course if any community members would like to tackle it it would be appreciated! Similarly, I still have all the notes and ideas from the research I did earlier this year for The Hunt, but as its main purpose would be to publicise the project it'd be far more effective if done later when we have a finished product worth shouting about. If there are any features that the community would really like to see added in the mean time I propose that we start a bounty program similar to what lbry has got going on here. Or if you'd prefer to put up a cash bounty there's the option of adding it to SDC's bountysource program, which makes sense for any features that both projects might benefit from and would be a nice way to give a little back.

So if I'm scrapping the rest of the roadmap wtf am I going to be working on?! Well, for a long time now the plan has been for the project's development to culminate with the realization of an idea I had a while back - one that'd fully distinguish MOIN from its peers. I'm wary of revealing details (the list of people I trust in crypto is a short one), but it's big, it's ambitious and to be frank it's a damned site more interesting than any of the remaining roadmap items anyway. For the time-being I'm going to refer to it simply as ...

"The Platform"

This is where I'll be focusing my efforts from this point onwards. At the moment it's still in the research/experimentation phase, but things are moving at a decent pace. If you have problems with exchanges or the client drop a message here and I'll get back to you, but otherwise I'm going to be pretty quiet for the foreseeable future. Likewise, if anyone needs reassurance that I'm still around, just ask. I don't want investors being kept completely in the dark as to the status of development so once I've made significant progress I'll try to give estimations as to what percentage of the work has been completed. I won't give time-lines or ETA's though. They never work out.

To my mind "The Platform" will form the cornerstone of the project, and I think a lot of other things will naturally fall into place once it's done. I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who is and has been a part of the community and helped to make MOIN what it is over the last twelve months. Here's to the next twelve, I hope we'll do you proud.

Cheers!

I remember the days when Moincoin was almost dying coin. And KingCaper made a coin with a stable development and stable price. I thank him for that! This is an example of how a classical takeover should be implemented.

Thanks Sakura, glad you're still with us.

I just checked trading volume. I think it is unproductive to add it in bigger exchange. As moin has very very low trading volume. Would be total failure...

Yes I agree with you, I was all for at getting Moin listed on one of the big exchanges but I don't think now is the time. Once the dev released more and MOIN starts to pick up in trading volume then I think it will be a good idea to try and get it listed on one of the big exchanges. However I will say that I am very pleased with the way this coin is able to hold a steady price in the crypto market and with so many new coins coming out each week. This shows that MOIN has a strong backing by the community as no one dumps the coin even when the BTC price starts to rise like we see with other crypto coins. I'm very happy to be apart of MOIN and this great community.

Where to find moin.conf in UBUNTU? Thank you,

Fine operating system. You'll need to create the file in the data directory: /home//.moin/

Pressing Ctrl+H will show your hidden files and folders if they're not showing already. Then create a file named moin.conf, paste in the lines above and restart the wallet.

Hello,

Wallet is moin-1.1.0.1-linux64. I was looking around and noticed that I have 1 active connection.

How to add more active connections?

Add this to your moin.conf file:

Code:
addnode=163.172.144.233
addnode=46.101.237.212
addnode=162.255.117.105

addnode=174.45.91.112
addnode=31.6.165.71

Someone else mentioned having the same problem the other day - I'll check our DNS seeds tomorrow.

Yes I have now switched to using Cryptopia for buying MOIN, well I haven't purchased any coins yet but I plan to in the next couple of weeks. There were too many issues with C-cex for my liking so I made the switch.

Sorry to hear you had problems vella. C-cex had always been pretty good at getting back to me up until the last time you mentioned having issues, at which point I stopped getting replies. I've had good dealings with both Cryptopia and LiveCoin so for anyone looking for a place to trade MOIN at the moment those would be the exchanges I'd recommend. If anyone else has problems at C-cex with MOIN then let me know and I'll try reaching out to them again.

That's okay dev, I just wanted to let anyone that comes here knows of the issues with C-cex exchange. I am now using Cryptopia to purchase my MOIN coins now. I've never tried LiveCoin but I'll also sign up for that exchange as more crypto coins are being added there.

Hello,

When you go to explorer in the Linux 64 wallet, point mouse cursor at the end of the transaction box, Client starts to move when transaction word appears on the right side. Should it do that?

My laptop display 1280 X 800.

Also, I find Moin logo at the up left corner very uncomfortable when you want to navigate...

Hello ilog, thanks for the feedback. Which version of the wallet are you running? To be honest I've tested it on a couple of systems but never thought to try it out using a variety of resolutions. For the most part I fixed the tooltips appearing outwith the wallet window issue in version 1.1.0.1, but it's possible it hasn't been solved completely for every screen resolution. I'll try to test it out in a VM in the next few days.

I was still having issues withdrawing MOIN from C-cex so I had no choice but to sell my coins and withdraw BTC. I think it will be for the best if MOIN is not listed on C-cex any more as there seems to be so many problems with that exchange. Hopefully one day soon MOIN will be listed on Bittrex or Poloniex.
