Can we get a statement from MintPal founders (Jay or Jason) regarding the sale transaction and how it was paid (MintPal's users BTC?) ?
They should be more cooperative. It was their decision to sell the exchange to a scammer and put their users at risk. Moreover, if they were paid from MintPal's users balances that makes them a part of the crime.
I talked to them on IRC, they said they had in fact sold mintpal to him but didn't provide any more details. Why they sold to some shady scammer? who knows. Maybe they had been hacked and lost money from deposits and wanted to get rid of the hot potato?
This soap opera is getting pretty disgusting. the thief is laughing at you all from Japan now. the "bug" bullshit is so shameful... Gox all over again

selling this hot potato wont solve things for them.
they are as guilty as new owner

So imagine you are CEO and your company is launching a major exchange...and you decide to go on vacation at the same time..and at least 3,700 BTC goes missing.

'Premeditated'...either Freudian slip or he's basically telling us the truth for once.

Wow..Just Wow. Glad I waited to deposit

Is he still arested? Someone of us charge him?

DCryptFund on twitter reported he was arrested, but no further sources come out even with some digging so i'm skeptical myself.  Plus I think the whole thing was premeditated so good chance he isn't in his home country (UK) probably sunning it up in Asia somewhere, most likely Japan.

Just reading up on Mt Gox, weird how similar this is...BTC withdrawals suspended, BS reason given, then blame the theft on a 'bug' in the software: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt._Gox#Withdrawals_delayed_or_refused

But Mt Gox didn't have former employees catching them red-handed withdrawing the BTC to their private wallets, and as Green is in 'complete control of the Mintpal system' it's going to be extremely difficult for him to squirm out of this in a UK court.  Plus the Syscoin and PIE funds...

Do we have a chance to get our coins back ? Embarrassed

Yes there is a chance, if he realizes there's no way he is getting away with this now and returns them, or if the authorities can find him and seize the funds.
I hope some mafia members have their coins on mintpal and they will find him to cut his head if he is not going to return  Grin Grin

A tiny chance, but still hope. Hold more than $2m worth of btc mean he could have the money out without a trace and run to some heaven country.
Not to mention that currently he not in UK

When v2 came online - all my balances were reported correctly.  I proceeded to make withdrawals and I promptly received:

DRK 5,000
XC 18,500
BC 184,500

But I did not receive my 18.182011303 BTC withdrawal that I placed on Oct 10.

When I logged in on Oct 14, I saw all of my original balances still there!  I tried to withdraw the BTC once more to only to now see 2 pending withdrawals for the same amount.  Still nothing received.  I have not attempted to withdraw these additional fund because that would be stealing, but despite my many efforts to report the issue, the balances still remain.

This is horrible news.  If others are double withdrawing, someone ain't gonna get there coins...  what a fucking trainwreck.

Clever, looks like Green is going to try to use this 'exploit' to say that that's where the missing funds went...https://twitter.com/moolah_io/status/523706464586989568

Unfortunately I doubt the exploit can be blamed for withdrawing 3,700 BTC to his personal wallet so good luck explaining that one away 'Alex' Cheesy

(Plus we know from the former employees that 'Ryan is currently in complete control of the MintPal system' so it's his 'exploit')
