how much is it worth in BTC/USD??
This might be a bit of a stretch but does anyone else think that MintPal's Jason & Jay should be held responsible to some extent? Precautions should have been in place to protect existing users from shit like this. They sold the company in the drop of a hat (along with all our user balances) and there wasn't fuck all any of us could do about it. Their lack of foresight and consideration has costed many of us money.

did anyone received any coins from MintPal? did they send you any email for confirm the withdraw?
Yes plenty of people have received coins, though seemingly not any BTC. I hadn't logged in since before the v2 release so I had to reset my password, which was by email, but no I didn't have to confirm withdrawal by email. It took a little over 24 hrs to receive my coins, there were some lesser-alts missing which I don't really care about, the rest I received successfully.
They dont work on weekend, but police works everyday haha
They sent my withdrawals this morning (saturday) so someone is up and working at MintPal
Thankfully I had no BTC on there, I withdrew all the coins I had wallets for last month. Hope all you guys get it back. If we are going to trade coins we have to trust exchanges and at the moment it's hard to do that.

Well, even if they weren't paid from the balances, it's a shitty situation.
If one can spend say 1000 BTC to acquire an exchange which has 10.000 BTCs in it, they can then use the 10k BTC to nullify the buying costs and then keep 9k BTC for profit. It's insane.

I talked to them on IRC, they said they had in fact sold mintpal to him but didn't provide any more details. Why they sold to some shady scammer? who knows. Maybe they had been hacked and lost money from deposits and wanted to get rid of the hot potato?They should be more cooperative. First of all, the sale transaction was done in a shady way and users were not given a possibility to withdraw funds in a timely manner - this is MintaPal's founders fault. You cannot just transfer fiduciary duty to an unknown third party without having any liability.
Secondly, after the scam has been revealed they are silent and not willing to be open. Their cooperation can significantly increase the chance of finding the crook and bringing him in front of the justice.
