It would be fair if people who had lost coins at Cryptsy would decide what to do with these coins.
I personally had lost a lot of coins at Cryptsy,
but for now I'm not sure: maybe better to burn these coins, to send them to a confirmed (with a technical proof) burn address.
Or there will be suspicions about dumping, split of community etc.
Another way is to send coins to the court, but then no one will benefit.
The Florida court already received 8 bil MOON before, but never returned even 1 Mooncoin to Cryptsy account holders.
Instead of that coins were sold via silent auction to unknown buyers 8 bil MOON + a lot of other crypto coins for a very small amount of money (about $100,000 if I remember correct numbers from their report).
Will anyone benefit from it? If coins were returned to the community, should community send these coins to the court?
They will dump these coins again on us, and we will pay for our own coins and will not receive money, because they will share all received money between all Cryptsy account holders. Is it fair? Not. Is it moral? Not. Is this even legal? Is there any good lawyer in the Mooncoin community?

It is not a hard decision for me (I am the most damaged mooncoin supporter!) I had always thought these coins lost. I love moon and mooncoin comunity! Better burn these coins.

Burning the coins is a viable method. But another - maybe better one - could be to donate it.
Have you heard about the Pineapple Fund?

https://pineapplefund.org/

An unknown donator giving $86 million USD worth of BTC of his personal funds to charities.

What do you think?

Can someone please try to send a small amount of coins to the address above, to prove that it works?

Hi,

Guys from searching around I think this would be the fastest cleanest most transparent way to Burn these coins..

You can see from this link the address below would take 3.3E+33 or 3.3 decillion years to crack.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Vanitygen

So, I think this would work and be transparent to all..

2CryptsyBurnLockedForeverxxxxdmvPw

I believe that this would make the address known to all and the private key unknown to all. But the address would be a valid and would, in theory, have some theoretical valid private key, just no-one would know what it is.

Let me know what you think.

I think that Mooncoin project cannot be better than this, because people involved are fair and honest. This man (beside the fact that in real life we are friends and we live in the same town) is a great person: he was the most damaged in cryptsy affair but he is ready to burn all the stolen coins for a bright future of Mooncoin and its community. Chapeau!!!

I lost in todays numbers 20,000 $ in the Cryptsy disaster. I don't look back, these things happen you can't change them. I move on... This is a great coin and community, discord and ann. Vassilis is a active and honest dev. 2018 will be a good year for Moon I think. Burn the coins en look forward is my opinion but who am I. Time will tell! The best to Moon!

+1, of course, the coins are being burnt. We are just finding the clearest, fastest and most transparent way to do that.

How to generate Mooncoin BURN address (coins which are sent to this address will be burnt):

1) go to http://gobittest.appspot.com/Address
2) in "1 - Public ECDSA Key" paste "0400000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000" -> "Send"
3) edit "4 - Adding network bytes to 3" (003B4DF4363CAA9E3BD9DA58020D3080BE8230A4AE) to 033B4DF4363CAA9E3BD9DA58020D3080BE8230A4AE (Why "3":https://github.com/MichaelMure/WalletGenerator.net/blob/68e04a272cd007685acf36801fba6610d066f1c5/index.html#L10353) -> "Send"
4) MOON burn address is: 2JRPCyoVZ2GkprPJ4FjiVZBH9aj1fSJMPH

Could someone with more technical knowledge analyze that and confirm that this is a BURN address for Mooncoin (that coins on this address will stay unspendable no matter what)?

Hi,

The page in question looks to me like an address generation page, which you probably don't really want. I was under the impression that to burn coins you would send them to a non-existent address like this one: 2CryptsyBurnxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxdmvPw

But, it's never crossed my mind to destroy coins before so, I'll defer to Vassilis on this one. I think since the coins are returned the immediate problem is resolved and we should take a few days to think things through calmly so that we can act with confidence and know for sure the right thing was done. It's always better to make big decisions with a clear calm focus instead of a nervous knee-jerk reaction. I have faith in our Dev and know that this issue will be fully resolved to everyone's satisfaction. If we need a few days to run some tests of burning coins on a testnet that is absolutely fine by me. Vassilis - if you're feeling nervous right now .. I would say the best thing to do right now is as they say, don't just do something just stand there. Relax and think it through, nervousness causes mistakes.

Could be used as one heck of a marketing fund.  There are many things that we could sponsor, or even just distribute among current users.

Confirm.
The BURN address for Mooncoin was generated correctly. The same method was used for NVC and 42-coin.
