This is true and the more time passes the more chains will die off. However there is still always hype around new chains even if they are vaporware to begin with.
Honestly even many alts are worth negative values. I have many alts in my wallet that are just useless, I'm even thinking of removing some of them completely because the more I see them the more I think I have treasure which is actually not. Many alts are as good as dead in the market. Many of their developers just want to develop something to get money from some people and forget about it; no product, no roadmap, no developmental plans.
Many projects are trying to achieve the same result - get more tps, as much as they can. This challenge will never stop and you can just move your money from one asset to another, but you have to be sure that the new project is much better that previous one.

The main factor is the strict competition, as we know that currently there are hundreds of ICO and IEO projects, and old coins that are active in the market more than 2100, this is like toys and of course many altcoins die.

many people were cheated and thought that new altcoins are worth good money but new projects preferred to take money instead of developing their products.
This is somewhat true but a lot of alts have made a few people millionaire too. It is just a matter of choosing the right altcoin and researching information to get the right altcoin. But, as most of the ICOs became scam, there are lots of altcoins that have no value, and we should be careful with them.

Let us just kick out those coins that do not really contribute the market capitalization of cryptocurrency. The major cause was the bear market, small project with less funding were not given a chance to grow. People wants instant profit in an ICO although it was not built that way, ICO projects are start ups and therefore it requires time to grow and progress.

I see only advantages in this, because a person could buy such coins, who either does not know anything about the crypto currency at all, or he has a lot of optimism. Now we will get rid of all this stuff and there will be only cryptocurrencies that are useful, supported by developers and the community, as well as have a demand.
I think it still has value but the value is very small and if the project does not have an update, the altcoin will die and I think there have been a lot of tokens that have died because dev only wants to profit in ico and leave their project then no one buys the token on the market.
You can say that but every altcoins that get listed on exchange means it's worth money, you still can sell the tokens and get money even the price is really low. I'm agree trash alt that no project, only for quick bucks for the dev, alt like this usually will be dead and no one buy the coins.
It's true. I got a lot of alts and most of them cost neathing. But some of them surprized me and when I look to my Eth token bot - he show me that now some currencyes has a prices.

It seems to me that a lot of external factors put pressure on the project. I know examples when the project had a unique technology and an honest team, but failed. And I know examples when a frank scam becomes famous and popular ... The fact of luck is very important. Sometimes the team makes more than 1 project, when old coins are not profitable they leave immediately and make a new project again, this is what makes the most altcoins go to zero.

not because after being registered in exchange they have no value. if they are trusted, of course they can grow their prices again. as long as the trade continues, there will be a possibility that prices will rise and not have a zero value. the most important thing is how the community continues to survive, it will help the growth of coins in the market. Most of this altcoins are scams but one of the possibility why a certain coin has a small value per coin is because it has a large number of circulating supply.

not all altcoins are created equal. Some could be worthy projects with some promise. But no matter what, the cryptospace is like the wild west. Many other digital coins have no use case at all. There is no reason for them to exist.
