Myself introduced gambling to my girlfriend, and she started to gamble regularly. Bets doesn't go higher than $1 and initially she enjoyed it as she didn't experience loss. Later started to loss, and requests me to recover her loss for her. I used to recover playing with bigger bets and one day lost big. From that day she completely stopped gambling, not even for fun she doesn't gamble. I mention this just to state what is being said in the OP is true, men easily turns addictive. Good for the men is to concentrate on sports betting than casino games.
really ? you let your Girlfriend learn gambling? and even let her told you to recover her losses? how come that you both become that stupid about gambling?

If she become more addicted then surely you will blame yourself and will even broke up because of gambling.

I hate seeing a couple having this when they can just enjoy other things in internet or even teach them how to invest here than gambling

I think it is not advisable to introduce gambling to people that lack self-control. Being poor or having access to much money is not an excuse for gambling addiction. Anyone that lacks self-control financially will also waste his money on something else. Most people are addicted to earning cheap money which is why they will always be victims of Ponzi schemes. Gambling addiction might lead to drug use or abuse, especially if the gambler is a bad loser or gambles more than he can afford to lose. But it is not a benchmark that all drug abusers are prone to gambling addiction. Generally, I don't think it is advisable to introduce or encourage anybody to gamble. I prefer them to learn it from someone else because gambling could affect people's finance negatively if the act becomes uncontrollable and don't want to be blamed for someone's problems.
My friend Zlantann quite a while, I am excited to read your comments in regards to excuses people give for gambling addiction, most of the addicts failed to accept the responsibility that is entirely their fault for becoming addicts that way, addiction withdrawal and rehabilitation process will be fast and easy.

-Addiction tendency can be detected early and the individual can avoid getting involved in things that could get them addicted such as gambling or substances.

To be honest, I have never introduced it to people who are close to my environment, both friends and family, after all, I know it will plunge them into gambling addiction, let alone follow me. I just gamble for fun without having to teach people around me about gambling. . but if they play gambling because they see advertisements I usually give advice not to gamble seriously and always play wisely and responsibly
Gambling is addictive same as drugs, I will never encourage anyone to get involved in any of them most especially in the under-age group since they may not have the ability to control their desire to take high risks which can lead to more problems.

-I personally have never introduced anyone to gambling and as a matter of fact I myself I am still a newbie in gambling, and since I gamble for fun no one will see me doing so and at that, I haven't really seen anyone around me trying to learn gambling from me.
yes of course when we teach and invite someone to play gambling then that person cannot control his emotions in gambling let alone spending all his money at the gambling table and even leaving his family just to win at the gambling table of course I will feel very guilty seeing that person, so it's better just me who play gambling instead of inviting the people closest to us and even those we know to play gambling because we don't know someone's behavior when playing gambling. So don't ever try it for your own gain

- Be careful introducing gambling to people who have a good access to enough money and no discipline in spending, they may not mind gambling to win money, but for other reasons, and because of their good access to money, they may just become addicted without even knowing.

- Be careful introducing gambling to someone who you know is poor and needs a better way to earn a livelihood. The person may mistake gambling as a way to earn a living.

- Be careful introducing gambling to your friend who you know easily gets addicted to new things.

- Be careful introducing gambling to your friend who you know has a drug use problem.

In general, I know some forum users may like to respond saying we should be careful generally who we introduce gambling to, which is true, but since may not possibly be avoided, there are some categories of people that we should be on the look out for in the society.

Right now, we are the ones on the receiving end. What I mean is, if you don't tell anyone about gambling they will tell you about it and even go as far as trying to convince you.
Image source: A screenshot from my from conversation with a stranger trying to convince me to sign up on a gambling platform

The above is a conversation with someone I have never met. The person got my number from a WhatsApp group and decided to try to convince me to sign up to sportybet. So you see, sometimes we are the ones on the receiving end.

So if you as a person is a teenager report anyone trying to persuade you against your wish to sign up on a betting platform.
I suspect that introverts and people who like to spend time alone would fall prey to these gambling crusaders. They are most likely to become addicted because of their sedentary life.

- Be careful introducing gambling to your friend who you know has a drug use problem.

Introducing gambling to an addict is the worst thing you can do for that individual. Addiction has a way of conquering itself, if a drug addict starts gambling, they might quit the drug addiction but it'll be replaced with gambling addiction which will be like jumping from a frying pot into the fire itself. Drug addict can get influence easily so they should be speared.

My personal opinion, I'll say don't introduced anybody to gambling, even though it's been very profitablity to you still don't introduced it to others. Allow them to discover it themselves so you don't get blamed for their failure as they mightn't be as lucky as you're because gambling doesn't favor everybody.

Why do I think that there was an older forum thread discussing a similar topic? Grin
Anyway, age isn't the main factor. I've seen old people becoming gambling addicts. Some people simply love taking risks, while others hate taking risks. I've seen a gambling addict, who desperately tried to find a way to manipulate the game of roulette, so he could win.
Being delusional and thinking that you are smart enough to "exploit the casino" is also a sign of gambling addiction.
I don't know if this is delusion or a "Dunning-Kruger effect"(when you are dumb, but you think that you are smart), maybe a combination of both. Actually the Dunning-Kruger effect is some kind of delusion.

It's somewhat pointless to let us know if we should be careful to introduce someone into gambling, because the huge influence make people to gamble is come from gambling influencer, not a common gambler. Usually a real gambler will not want to invite their friend to gamble to because there's a personal reason or there's no point to invite them. If someone invite you to join gambling, it's high likely he will ask you to sign up with his referral link.
You are right with today's technological advances where all information is easy to obtain and all kinds of content can be accessed by many people, from the youngest to the oldest, even though they don't get gambling information from their closest people, they will easily get it via the internet, advertisements that appear whenever they are accessing a site even the advertisements display far more interesting than what the people closest to them say about gambling, and more people trust what the advertisements show on the internet than what is conveyed by the persons who closest to them, so now people will easily fall into gambling because the internet is not the invitation of the colleague.

Well, you should also not introduce gambling to people who has a lot of time on their hands. Just go to any "brick n mortar" casino and see how many old (retired) people are there ...gambling away their pension fund.

They are the most desperate and vulnerable people in our community and some of them should rather be in a old age home, being cared for.... but they risk the little money they have on things like gambling.

If we can have an age restriction for minors.... then we should also have a age restriction for the older people.  Huh

- Be Careful introducing gambling to people with some certain "Personality Characteristics".
Quote
Certain personality traits are associated with a higher risk of developing a gambling addiction
this suddenly reminded me of an article I've read before that gambling addiction can be hereditary just like alcoholism. if I remember correctly, in the article it mentioned that certain genes that are more receptible to gambling addiction that can be passed on by the parent. it was quite an interesting article to read and kind of also explains why there are family members(including relatives) that have the same issue with gambling, drugs, alcohol, etc...

I would add my experience which I was addicted up to the year 2020-2021 as I used to play slots almost every day.I did so with an intention though,a real one and not that deceiving one which all other people have which is to become rich easily, once I started playing in each session I had an objective, like if I get this amount I will buy x things and quit and this kept me on a trend until I become addicted following my objectives. This was a mild addiction though as once I realized where I was going I immediately stopped gambling like that and since then I just play 20,30 to 50 or 100 dollars maximum in a week, this keeps me at bay to avoid detection.

Witnessing these "wins" can easily make people think they could get lucky too, leading them to gamble irresponsibly and eventually getting addicted. What most people don't realize is that these streamers are often paid to promote the casinos, and the money they're risking isn't even theirs, it belongs to the casino itself. These streamers can't cash out those winnings because they're required to return the funds to the casino. So, while it might look like a dream come true, it's actually a well-crafted illusion designed to lure in more gamblers.
People tend to be attracted to success stories such as those who have won a jackpot in lotteries celebrating their victories via public such as tv stations temd to influence people to gamble because everyone want a win, but minding what the winner have been through and how the process before the winning could have affected him/her.

-So watching such advertisement of gambling success could get others enticed to gamble trying to cash in on their luck.

That kind of advertising is very deceiving and as you mention it can be very effective for those that may think this is the way they can get financial independence.

However one of the things which can stop those thoughts and protect you from becoming addicted is simply to read a book about probabilities, once you do you will soon realize that beating the casinos over the long term on a game of chance is almost impossible, meaning that anyone that may decide to gamble after doing this will do so simply for the fun they think they can obtain and not because some absurd dream of earning a lot of money out of gambling.
Most gambling addicts have one characteristic in common, they are greedy and unsatisfied with whatever they have, so they easily get carried away by others' success stories and that is the reason they easily get attracted to watching streamers in other to feed their greed and taking similar steps to win same without knowing the repercussions of the extend of their greed.

If you don't want to be blamed by someone else for introducing gambling to him, you don't have to do it or he will have problems later. We also don't know if he is a person who can be responsible during gambling or if he will lose his money and instead trigger him to deposit more money and not place any restrictions at all. Many people have lost their money because of gambling, so we don't need to invite other people to gamble. It's enough for us to play gambling because we can control ourselves well.

I think it is those that are "encouraged" are likely to become addicts. Many people tend to get hooked on gambling after witnessing someone else's lucky win, especially those who've been influenced by gamblers who've won some big money. It's pretty common for people to get drawn into gambling after watching streamers place hundreds of dollars in bets and walk away with thousands in winnings. In short word don introduce gambling to anyone thats it no matter who they are unless they discovered it on their own.  Though i am not that kind of person that us introducing gambling to other people but lets say those poor people are already aware of lottery ever since they are child because they knew that if they got lucky they could win big that is  ive seen a lot of people saying that if they just save the money that they buy from lottery ticket for sure they have already enough money now . Society is already aware gambling is let's just keep it in our selves and not promote casinos or other form of gambling to others

I had never introduced or invited my friends to gamble again because many were already familiar with gambling before I started. I agree with all of these reasons that if we are not careful in introducing gambling, we can make that person fall into gambling even worse than us.

So if you want to invite someone to play gambling, you have to make sure that person can be responsible for himself, has strong self-control, will not be easily tempted by something and is not too eager to get a lot of money. This is important because everything can trigger the person to act beyond the limits we know and he can have a tendency to gamble without stopping. Maybe we need to be by his side while he is gambling to make sure everything is okay and if something starts to change, we can help him quit gambling immediately.

I would add that don't gamble in front of little kids. It's known fact that people behave according to conditioning received during early childhood. If child sees his parent gamble, child will likely do same. Environmental influence is great, don't do things in front of children that you don't want them to do.

This is why you don't introduce people to gambling. You are somewhat liable to their demise because they'll always remember that you're the one who introduced them to the hustle. If not for you, they wouldn't really know how to gamble, and they'd just go on with their lives without ever having to spend a single penny on gambling. But yeah, ultimately whatever happens to these people are their own faults. They don't have to go and be addicts if they aren't really gambling to begin with.
