That was such boring race that I don't even know what to say. Basically, we had fight for the 1st place until 1st corner on first lap. Good to see Perez back on podium. And what is really worth attention - progress than Mclaren is making in recent races, just remember how they looked in start of season.
Next week race in Belgium Spa track, last one before summer break.

Yeah it was quite a boring race because again and again RBR dominates the race with their latest upgrade. Ferrari also seems to be back to their usual, less competitive and tends to fall apart when it comes to strategy. But indeed what I am quite happy about is how Perez was able to return to the podium and he seemed very happy for that, it seems that the RBR team still has hope for Perez. And it seems that the rookie of the year goes to Piastri and Norris, it is very interesting to see how these two young drivers have become very competitive after the Bahrain GP, McLaren seems very proud to have them.

Hamilton was a disappointment to me. Because he had a really bad start and lost 3 places at the beginning already. He could have taken a place on podium before the end at least if there were a couple of more laps to go. Besides I expected Mercedes to mount softs to Hamilton's car on his last pit. But they wanted to go on with mediums instead.

I think that it was a strategical mistake by Mercedes. Even if Hamilton had to be a little more patient before pitting to do that, it would have been worth it. Hamilton had a great pace with softs in Q3. Softs could have helped him finish on podium but they didn't go for it.  Sad
The Hamilton Verstapen competition was used to be very good. It has become quite unappealing in the last 2 years, this is my opinion of course. In the past, we were watching the Hakkinen Schumaher Baricello Couldart competitions with excitement. Pit stops were incredibly exciting also. The struggle of different brands of tires created a different excitement. Unfortunately, all of these have been taken away from us. Hamilton was a huge let down in this race. I don't watch the races much anymore, but after 1.5 years, Hamilton's pole position made the qualifying more fun than the race. That was almost the only excitement. There is no fun in betting anymore too.

Softs would have ware out much more faster than the medium one,if he had mounted them he would have done like 6-7 fast laps but then he would have definitely lost out to Perez. The medium tires were the best bet and they left it all to be fought on the track and I found it interesting the battle for the third place.Personally I am impressed by Perez performance in this race as we have continuously made fun of him and lately even the memes from formula dank page making fun of him but he drove really well today and past expectations from all of us.

Ferrari and Aston Martin looks like the big losers of today race.

Another easy win for RBR, also this track as always was underwhelming with no action at all.

I think we need to wait 2026 for the new cars, RBR seems to be invincible.

McLaren is on the rise in the recent times. This is another spectacular qualifying performance by them. Norris is already one of the most skilled drivers on the grid. But it is also nice to see Piastri getting used to the tracks and having a faster car to show his skills more clearly. This time he is starting as 4th.

Piastri lost his position on podium to Hamilton the last time. I wonder if we will see a revenge here. However Hamilton was incredible in qualifying. He was the fastest of the session by a small gap to Verstappen. The expectations will be big from him in the race as well. We are likely to have another podium with the same drivers after the British GP.

Piastri is phenomenal. Not a lot of people see him as a great driver but he is actually doing great drives recently. Norris is also getting the hang of the new McLaren car and it's showing on the results of the recent races. Whatever they're doing in the team is working, and hopefully they bring in consistent results even on the British GP.

Ferrari however...

I would love for Hamilton to get out first from the first corner as this would spark the interest of all fans to watch a super beautiful race. This because if Verstappen will try to pass Hamilton here it means he will have extreme difficulties to do so in this track where is near impossible to overtake. This will in turn let Norris and Piastri play their cards for a win as Hamilton will hold Verstappen and in the first pit stop we can see spectacular change of positions, for example we can see a Piastri be first and leading the race if he opts to be racing some more laps than the other leaders. Can't wait for this hour to pass so we can see the race.

Perez once again hit the grass on Friday and caused damage and their floor to be open to public, that's not good and causes other teams to get better because of it as well. I mean right now they are getting high pressure from Mercedes and McLaren at the same time, don't know if it's an engine upgrade, but it's definitely obvious. Look at Friday and Saturday practice results, they are getting the top spots.

In the end, I feel like Max will beat anyone, but Perez is doing so bad that the constructors could have been an issue if other teams were consistently good. This season is basically over for the first place, red bull and max, but it's still amazingly fun to watch who would be the second team in the end, and I believe Mercedes could do well.

I also believe this,it is near impossible to overtake in this track and the guys who did so did exactly after the long straight with DRS and in the next couple of corners where it takes lots of courage to try and do so.While many in the previous race have been successful in such overtakes many many others during the years have paid an expensive price by crashing or losing a lot of positions as they have lost control of the car trying to overtake.

You talk about the difficulty of overtaking, I agree that this circuit does not really favor many drivers, but I would like to remind you that it was at the Hungarian GP that one of the most beautiful overtakings in the history of the category took place (which is corroborated by several polls made with fans over the years).

This beautiful overtaking I'm talking about happened in 1986 (I wasn't even born) when the Brazilian Piquet put the car aside to overcome Senna at turn 1, in the inaugural race at the Hungaroring, took the lead of the race and won the race afterwards.

Not to say I'm lying, here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgrWsd5QXF0

Since then, the Hungaroring circuit has received drivers uninterruptedly until then and has the second longest sequence of races in F1, second only to Monza, which also receives F1 consecutively since 1981 (five years earlier).

I'm looking forward to this next Hungaroring race, I'm sure new surprises await us.

Honestly the qualifying results made me really happy. Because it feels really good to see different things sometimes as the whole season is under Verstappen's dominance for a long time. I didn't believe in Hamilton to get the pole position honestly but he made me really surprised. I even still thought about whether Verstappen was going for one more attempt but thankfully he didn't.  Grin

It was a really small gap maybe but the most important thing is to get that pole. The start is likely to be quite interesting. I hope we don't see a crash between these two like in the old times. I just want to see a good competition at least at the start. After a while it shouldn't be hard for Verstappen to win the race comfortably.

A lot of second drivers ended up not providing what they should have, we have seen Russell and Sainz end up way lower than they should. Perez once again not what Red Bull hoped for, which they are used to it by now, at least it wasn't a Q1 exit. Norris and Hamilton did wonderful, the fact that Norris is doing this well looks like a talent thing but also a car thing as well, they have improved the car magnificently and been providing proof of that all the time. However, what Hamilton did looks like pure talent, I mean his teammate was out as 18th, sure there were traffic and I agree that he could have been in Q2 without that, but still its a show of force for Hamilton without a doubt.

It is a weekend where Hamilton made people smile with his first pole in a long time. I wish that tomorrow norris and piastri will be included in the race, a race where the ego of this verstappen will be broken a little. I wish a good race to Perez also. Athough what happened already, even if he has problems, we can say that Max is champion. Redbull probably is going to be the champion again also. I don't think Mercedes has the condition to win a race. If he doesn't have any problems at take off, Max will easily pass Hamilton in couple of laps. I'm afraid that is the harsh truth.

They have nothing to lose, they will try to win for sure.
The problem is this track, even if you are fast it will be improbable to overtake.

The only chance is with mistakes or end of life for the tyres.

For tomorrow for Hamilton it will be important to get first in the first corner and he is greatly advantaged to do so because he starts on the clean part of the track and then it is up to him and the team to develop a strategy that will try and fend off Redbull which would be extremely difficult for tomorrow.

It's very unexpected to see Hamilton taking pole. It's already his 9th pole on this track if I'm not mistaken, so, it's his track and he managed to do it even with bad car. Offcourse, big factor was that Verstappen didn't managed to make good lap on his last attempt. And when it comes to race, it probably won't cause problems for Max to win race. And Perez - well, at least he managed to get in Q3.

I think it is like that as this track makes more emphasized the drivers skill rather than the car,if I am not mistaken Russell started from pole also last year here so maybe it is that Mercedes is very suitable for this track.McLaren is being consistent in their performance and it is hopeful to see such nice times again from a legendary team which deserves to be always fighting for the win as they have done throughout all their history except this last decade where they have been absent from winning races except a few.For Perez I would also consider an achievement to have made it to Q3 even though he has the best car on the grid.

3rd hour has gone and it is not so clear if Max will do the pole.

RBR seems to have some problems with cooling down the tires so they don't have the perfect grip for the entire lap.

If they can't fix the problem, they will risk it.

Also interested in the new format of they qualify.

Life, Love and Laughter...

This picture LOL. I can feel how much pressure Checo is facing right now. It must have been stressful enough for him to see his teammates in first place and Daniel's performance which was quite good which could replace him at any time. Plus the very harsh environment of Red Bull who are very quick to change their drivers. Checo must be really stressed right now.

^  Lolol.  I'm laughing rn cos you're laughing.  Glad somebody itt got the joke.  I feel like most of the funny memes I post in here got ignored most of the time.

Anyway here  the results for FP3.  Hamilton got three sections in purple.  :/  Could be a potential threat for Verstappen...  Yes please.  Grin  We need an more exciting race for a chance.
