Massa went through legal channels to ask for the world title which was illegally taken from him in 2008.

After what Briatore confessed a few months ago Felipe went on the attack, we'll see how it ends.

I don't know what Massa wants but it would be really funny if FIA decided to hand him over the title of 2008 where Hamilton won the title with a weaker car than Ferrari then.I still remember very well that day when Glock had that problem, the rain and all the problems,I will never forget that the Brazilian fans gifted him the shirt of Vasco de Gama football team where they thought that these are the eternal second place as they had a lot of runner up finishes, yet Hamilton accepted it and didn't give a damn about that superstition,in fact it brought him luck the opposite of what Brazilian fans wanted.

Wups...  Wow.  If he wins the case and is given the 2008 driver's championship then it would be just 6 world titles for Lewis Hamilton?  Hmmm..  That would be a hard one for him.  He won't be able to retire before 2030 now.  He'll still have to chase a couple more titles to break Schumacher's record.  Cheesy  Yes!  Lol.

I wouldn't really be surprised of he was poked to do it by...  You know...  Grin

Anyway still a couple of weeks more before the next race.  Anybody got any news?

I've already been in favor of Felipe Massa once, but I admit this case is pretty complete and there's no easy answer. On the one hand, it is true that McLaren was caught manipulating the race, a clear contradiction of the rules, but it was not the first and not the last... there were other serious violations and the result of the competition was not annulled. On the other hand, Hamilton was also a brilliant driver who had an exceptional season, would it be fair to punish him with the withdrawal of that title when he was the most consistent driver of the season?

Certainly the FIA should, at the very least, have better considered some important factors before deciding whether or not to cancel this race, such as the seriousness of this violation of the rules by McLaren and the impact it had on the results of the season, in addition to Hamilton's performance throughout the season and also the impact of annulling his title.

Anyway... instead of debating this issue and trying to reach a fair and impartial decision, the FIA decided to take the easy way out and unfortunately left everything as it is. So, in my opinion I believe that Felipe Massa was very right to file a lawsuit against the FIA and I hope he wins! Is there any site accepting bets on top of that? Tongue

Red Bull came with a car that was a little faster than their usual self, which I was a bit shocked considering I thought they were focusing on next seasons car already and even a bit 2026 I am sure, but the fact that they improved on already the best car means that they will keep the title. This isn't good news, it's always fun to see new teams get better, and the fact that there aren't that many improvements reported means it's going to be a bit boring.

Any improvements on the current iteration of Red Bull's car is like a mockery against other teams. They have the best car across the board, across all races, and yet they continued to push with the car that helped them win many races. At this point, we don't know how good their car would be for the next season if this current season's car still has some room for improvements. Even if McLaren, Ferrari, or Mercedes get lots of improvements with their cars, i don't think it can still come close with Red Bull's.

Brad Binder's victory on slick tyres was also a great ride, which can't be classified as a normal race win. It was pure risk, and the commentary didn't mean "Big Balls Binder" for nothing.
Yes, victory with slippery tires in rainy conditions must be considered extraordinary because Brad Binder was able to survive with these tires without having to change his motorbike at that time. In addition, the riders who tried to change their motorbikes at that time were also unable to win even though they were already wearing the tires that should have been when the rain started to flush the circuit.

As far as I know, Dorna has also refused to free up the one place for a new manufacturer, and I assume that the salary for KTM would be too high for Marc Marquez (unless RedBull would take over).
Your assumption might be correct, but from some news that has been circulating now that Marc Marquez also does not have a place at KTM after Dorna confirmed not to free up another place for the KTM team. So this makes KTM reluctant to care about other things except for himself at the moment and apart from that the contracts of the riders who are at KTM for now are still quite long.

F1 will continue very soon hopefully and by the looks of it there aren't all that many imporvements reported so far. The latest one that Mclaren ended up being a bit better than how they started the season, in fact they have their best car in the past 2 seasons and that seems like the only improvement so far.

I also hope there are no weather surprises at this weekend's Race.
The Austrian Red Bull Ring always presents fierce races so we really cannot predict it with certainty, Ducati has always been the favorite this season, they are very strong but I agree with you that KTM should be reckoned with in its own home and also KTM this season is slowly getting better better than last season.
There is likely to be tough competition between Ducati, KTM and even Aprillia for the title at the Austrian Red Bull Ring Race this weekend.
In general, manufacturers from Europe will still dominate in this weekend's race, but KTM will probably put up quite an extra fight to stop Ducati's domination at the Red Bull Ring. Even though the potential might not be that big because Ducati has a lot of very competitive bikes so other manufacturers will always have a hard time passing them one by one, but I also think that Aprilia could make a surprise at the Red Bull Ring as it has done in the previous races.

After the long summer break, MotoGP is back on track in Austria, with the current weather forecast predicting very nice and hot weather, the Red Bull Ring is traditionally a Ducati track and I think Ducati will dominate there again. KTM will have a hard time keeping up, there should be no weather surprises this weekend.
Austria's Spielberg Red Bull Ring Circuit is located in a very friendly and comfortable environment so the atmosphere will probably be very good this weekend. Speaking of the Red Bull Ring in Austria, it's actually KTM's home race and KTM itself won there in 2020 via its satellite team and in 2021 via Brad Binder who was on the factory team at the time. Although overall the Ducati is still the dominating bike there, but since the small corner changes on the long straight, it looks like the competition will be even tougher this weekend as traction and braking will be used more during the race.

By the way, KTM (Pit Beirer) has already confirmed that Marc Marquez will not be joining KTM in 2024.
KTM still respects its current riders and will not make any mistakes with the existing contracts so that KTM had tried to ask Dorna for another slot to create a new team so that it could accommodate Pedro Acosta and Marc Marquez. But this was not approved by Dorna so that KTM did not intend to help other teams such as Yamaha and Honda even though Marc Marquez himself had also started praising KTM recently.

Hamilton is intending to race for a few more years at least. He is still ambitious about getting his 8th world title before his retirement. But there is a big question at this point: Can Mercedes give what he wants?
-snip-

It's great to see Hamilton still pumped up to compete and chase his eighth title. Even though Max and RBR are dominating right now, it seems that Hamilton is still confident and still believes that there is a chance for him to get his eighth world title.
But from the news I heard that Ferrari is currently approaching him to be able to bring him to the Ferrari team and become Charles's teammate. Even Ferrari are ready to give £ 40m for Hamilton to join their team. But I think Hamilton seems to have rejected this offer because he still believes in what Mercedes is doing, maybe until he can get his eighth world title he will stay at Mercedes, or not(?)

@retreat I feel that Hamilton should move on from Mercedes because I sincerely doubt that he can win the record 8th title while racing with Mercedes and with Ferrari he’ll have a better chance. Also I’m surprised that he’s yet keen to race for few more year’s because he’s not performing that well and he could yet retire before constantly losing out to other driver’s and spoiling his reputation of being a serial winner.
It is strange that Hamilton stays with Mercedes. He has been very loyal, especially when Toto Wolff has made questionable choices, like not changing the car very much. Could it be that Hamilton's weakness is his trust in Mercedes? That, against all odds, he thinks he can win his eighth title there? He has won a lot of races with Mercedes, but why would he move to Red Bull? Completely crazy! But he could also surprise everyone. After all, logic isn't what makes games what they are

RBR boss said they already ended the progress on this car.

They will now only work in the 2024, that means they will have some updated on this year car but they will com from the next car and they will not projected for the 2023 car

True and now they do have A LOT of time to focus in the 2024 and I don't see them failing in any aspect of the car.

The 2023 car is already a championship one and Max will make sure he will win both championships as early as he can because this is his style, to win as early as possible.  Grin

Seeing how the car they have this season, it's very interesting to be able to see how the RBR car will be in 2024. Surely they will bring a lot of things from this season and improve them to be able to bring up new "monster cars" which might dominate the race again in the coming seasons.

RBR should be again under investigation for violating the salary cap a new penalty may take a part on next car.

I think that a radical rule change that will affect everyone in the middle of the season is absolutely wrong. As I mentioned before, DRS is the sick part of this sport. Would removing the use of DRS in qualifying increase competition? It definitely increases. We saw this in the rainy qualifying rounds. Results are much closer with DRS off in Q1 and Q2, while RB flaps with DRS on in Q3.

The important thing is the struggle not the transition. This should be the purpose of viewing pleasure. Sergio Perez is by far the most overrated player this season. Last time i checked, Perez had passed, like a half times his closest competitor. Is this now Perez's success? Perez is the most unsuccessful driver of this season on the contrary. Perez has this statistic as he drove one by one through the DRS zone during the race on Sunday after terrible qualifying laps. I would rather watch the "trulli train" a thousand times over the pilot who hit the DRS button and won ten places.

Basically this is not football which means you can't just get the best drivers and hope for the best Grin. Hamilton is at Mercedes and the best team right now is Red Bull, unless Hamilton finds himself a situation where he leaves for Red Bull to get Perez out, then there is no way that he could go to a team that will be better than Mercedes.

Sure, Aston martin looked good for a minute, and McLaren seems decent for now, Ferrari is always troubled but at the end of the day Mercedes where Hamilton became who he is today thanks to their dominating car, and now that they lost that domination, if he leaves for Red Bull which we should be honest know that it is not going to happen, then he would not be considered a good driver at all and a coward instead.
