I would like to recommend these films, some of them are underrated, but they are quite good. Unfortunately, they just lacked the hype that some other big films had. The films that I would recommend would be:

-Monster
-The Talented Mr. Ripley
-Big Nothing
-Insidious
-Shutter
-Let Me In

(I will edit this list from time to time to add new movies that I want to recommend)

Have you seen the original Let the Right One In? Both the book and film are fantastic.

Monster is great. Charlize Theron is probably my favourite actress.

I actually enjoyed the original Let Me In as opposed to the remake. Haven't read the book, though...

Agreed for Charlize! Great actress and a very interesting person.

I was never interested in seeing The Internship. Beyond the blatant product placement, it looked horrible and it didn't seem like there was even a market or a demand for it.

In other words, no one seems to have given a shit about it.

Like all of Vince Vaughn's films?

His new one The Delivery Man looks shit too.

Look at Vince Vaughn with his Vince Vaughn acting doing his Vince Vaughn face Grin.
the Internship isnt a good movie. I almost fell asleep while watching it. And I havent seen many of his movies.

I thought that it was okay. Sure it was always going to be about product placement and basically kissing Google's ass, but Tiya Sircar made it watchable Wink

Just finished a French film by the name of Les Poupées Russes (Russian Dolls). I had seen it a couple of years ago but didn't remember much. Sequel to L'auberge Espagnole for those who know that one.

Other than hating the main character and it being slightly too long, it's still a fun little exploration of love and relationships in different countries.

It's actually a remake of a French-Canadian film called Starbuck. The original was actually pretty funny and charming.

As for the remake, it has the same director but with Vaughn, I don't know... I have a hard time cheering for him in movies. Except maybe in Lost World: Jurassic Park. But even then...

Watched Rush. Being an F1 fan, that was a fantastic picture, as well as some great all round.
Just surprised why was it ignored for the Oscars.

I watched "The Internship" last night: you know, the one that was created to promote Googles products and services via the comic duo: Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

Did Vince Vaughn do his Vince Vaughn acting with His Vince Vaughn voice and his Vince Vaughn face?

Haha, look at his Vince Vaughn face.

Did Owen Wilson do His Owen Wilson acting? I bet together they make a hilarious team! Has anyone seen them both in "Some Sort of Disagreement"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JofDOQjHxP0

Aside from a few laugh out loud moments, the only real highlight (for me at least) was this beauty:

Watched Blue Jasmine last night. Great portrayal of someone descending into complete madness... There were even some scenes that were a bit awkward to watch.

Andrew Dice Clay was well utilized, too.

Does anyone else not feel the least bit surprised at the Oscar nominations today?

I still have a couple of movies to take off my list (most notably Her and Nebraska though the latter doesn't interest me too much) but I'm fairly happy to see Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle and Captain Phillips getting a good amount of nods.

Not that Oscars really mean anything, but still.

Has anyone seen Rush or Captain Phillips? Was thinking of watching one of these soon

I've seen both...

Rush was surprisingly good. I wasn't too excited about it but the story kept me involved the entire way through. I'm not an F1 fan either, if it makes a difference.

Captain Phillips: I knew the whole plot going in but was still on the edge of my seat. If you like Paul Greengrass' style, I think you'll appreciate it.

Guys

can anyone recommend a properly scary film?

With a good ending?

Doesnt have to be new can be oldish

thanks
beatup666

If by properly scary film, you mean something that's actually scared grown men into submission, I'd nominate .Rec. It's a Spanish film and it gets quite freaky. The sequels suck and the American remake sucks even more, though.

It's the first that comes to mind randomly, but if you tell me which other horror films you like, I can give you a couple of other recommendations as well.

beatup666 -- not sure what you mean by "properly scary" because there are really no films these days that are actually scary, maybe because I'm not a kid anymore... but I'm still a fan of the genre because it's thrilling and keeps me in the edge. REC is a good one and can be slightly scary to some people.

If you like thrillers and slashers High Tension, À l'intérieur and Sinister were good too. The Conjuring was not bad, I didn't find it scary though.

Sinister was pretty good and quite eerie, but was spoiled by the ending. I reckon it would've been better as a reality-based psychological horror and not some supernatural crap.

REC2 didn't suck, it was actually pretty good.

I just watched a movie called You're Next and it was actually really enjoyable and had some twists that made it above average imo... would watch with a girl who enjoys this stuff.
